[54.5 lb] I was excited for this audio interface to come out because of the two headphone outputs for monitoring, multiple output port options on the back, in-built additional USB-A ports, and that it operates by USB-C. Also I heard great reviews online. The in-built usb ports are great, so that I don't have to have as many adapters from USB C to USB A for my laptop with other devices. I first heard of Arturia when I was in the market for a midi keyboard, and so far, they do not disappoint. A massive bonus for me is how this interface is much smaller than I expected, which is amazing. Plus, it comes with power plugs for different countries. It doesn't HAVE to be plugged in to power (unless you want to use the interface's additional in-built usb ports for something like a midi keyboard), so that is nice, but also good to have the ability for extra usb ports. It would be even better if it didn't have the need to be plugged in to get power to the usb ports to power my midi keyboard, but I can live with that compromise because I think that's just literally a physical necessity (I don't think there's anything out there at the time of writing that could do that without a power supply). The small form factor is great for me since I travel a lot, and I don't expect to need to replace this interface for a long time since it's perfect for my needs.

[Black] I took a lighting class last Spring, where cinematographer taught us to light various types of scenes. He turned us on to the usefulness of China Ball type lights, for interior scenes where you are trying to create a warm, flattering sort of look. I bought a couple of the Chimera Lanterns and have been very pleased with them. Put a dimmer on them, and they have become my go to lights for these types of scenes. Not only do they give you a bright and very diffuse light, but there is something about the spherical shape that is also very pleasing. They can mimic a motivated ceiling light for example. They are not necessarily intuitive to assemble, but once you get used to it, they are not too bad. I'm very very pleased with the Cimera Lanterns.

[54.5 lb] There's more that one Zoom out there. The U-44 solved my problem with the the iMac 10.15.5 audio anti-feedback system that caused this old guy (with hearing loss) getting headphone signals of both incoming and outgoing audio during video conferencing. USB connection to the computer, no added drivers or apps needed. I use the U-44 with a phantom-powered Shure lavalier mic (A-D in) and any of several headphones (D-A out). No audio delay and adequate gain. Handy indeed.

[Black] The Sony XLR-H1 XLR Handle Unit is priced at $599 and this Zoom U-44 at $189 as of the writing of this review. Basically a third of the cost and you get so much more functionality out of this device with a much better, cleaner pre-amp. Unless your a running and gunning, there's not justification to pay 600 bucks for Sony's way overpriced XLR-H1.

I am powering my U-44 with a 5V USB sourced cable connected to a power strip with USB ports, but having the option to power it with two AA batteries is certainly a plus (remember you could always buy a
Zoom AD-17 AC Adapter to power it as well). My Sennheiser MKH 416 gets its signal through the U-44's pre-amp directly into my Sony FX3 without a problem and without any extra noise. I have my U-44 set to 'Stand Alone AD/DA' at 48 to hit my video's audio track with the right frequency. It is a bit bulky on my FX3 rig, but not too large to make it problematic. It is super light in weight and really well built.

I also got a Zoom AIH-1 Audio Interface Holder to clamp it onto my rig and I gotta say it is a must if you are planning on riging it up because the AIH-1 is specifically made for this device as well as for the
U-22 and the U-24.

I have two more FX30s and needed another XLR handle but didn't want to spend that ridiculous amount of money for just that flimsy XLR handle unit, so I found this beauty and it solved my problem with quality and style. Highly recommended!
