Q: 1. What is the field of view with the ATX 115 mm?

A: The field of view is the same as the 95mm 57 " to 104' at 1,000 yds.

Q: 2. 1- could you let me know the size of the filter I can put in front of the 95mm objective?

A: Hello Jeremiah - My apologies for the delay in responding - I did not get the notification. The 95mm Modular Objective can accept a 97mm filter size, which is a VERY uncommon size. Here is the bottom line, even if you were able to source out a 97mm filter, or use a 105mm filter and a step-down ring: there are no filters currently on the market that will not adversely affect the optical performance of the spotting scope. Thinking this through: a $400 filter used on a Canon 800mm f/5/6 lens is only having to work with a 16x lens magnification. It is a perfectly good optical system. That same filter quality attached to the 95mm scope now has to deliver top optical quality at 70x!!! If you want to use the filter as protection for the scope front element, you will be adversely affecting image quality by doing so. My tip - slide out the retractable sunshade when you are using the spotting scope in the field, and it will be less likely for you to scratch or damage the scope lens.

Q: 3. What's the magnification with the ATX/STX and BTX eyepieces when used with the 115mm objective?

A: Good Afternoon, ATX/STX have a magnification range of 30-70x for the 115 objective lens module. BTX has a fixed 35x magnification for the 115mm objective lens module. Best Regards, David Eickelmann

Q: 4. Reviewer Cynthia said, "and you can't carry it attached to your tripod like you can with other scopes". Is this true? I need a scope I can carry on the tripod constantly, and weight is not an issue. Would this scope qualify? Thank you for any info you can provide.

A: You can carry it on a tripod. The scope weighs 3 lbs without the eyepiece. I would not suggest it because of it being more prone to being hit while carrying it.

Q: 5. What is the minimum focus distance with the STX eyepiece at 30x? Thanks!

A: The minimum focus distance with the Swarovski STX Spotting Scope Modular Zoom Eyepiece (Straight Viewing) BH #SWSTXMES • MFR #49902 is the same for the 95mm: 15.7' / 4.8 m

Q: 6. does it work with Leica 25-50 ww asph?

A: No it's a Swarovski Eye Cup for ATX/STX Spotting Scopes.

Q: 7. it's come Empty or Filled with Sunflower Seeds?

A: It comes empty. We filled with plastic chips we bought at Hobby Lobby. Took quite a few bags. Kinda expensive but they won't mold or grow anything. ( you could look for larger bags online or eBay )

Q: 8. Is there any difference in image quality between an angled or straight viewing eye piece?

A: Hello, There is no difference in image quality, only in how you place your eye to look through the spotter. The straight eyepiece is coaxial with the field of view, so it's more intuitive, but the angled is more forgiving in field positions. Best Regards, David Eickelmann, Swarovski Optik North America.

Q: 9. Which tripod head works with the 115mm scope?

A: A wide variety of tripod heads will work with the Swarovski ATX/STX/BTX 115mm Objective Lens Module. here are (2) suggestions: Gitzo 2-Way Fluid Head BH #GIGHF2W • MFR #GHF2W or the Swarovski CTH Compact Tripod Head BH #SWCTH • MFR #49078

Q: 10. Would this fit an opticron gs665s?

A: It only fits Swarovski scopes.

[0.125 lb] If you can afford it, get it! You won't be disappointed. Excellent clarity and light. Paired with the ATX, it get a little soft at 70x when looking at very long distances but I suspect that would be the case for any optics due to the air disturbances growing with distance. No regrets!

[0.125 lb] Great glass. It truly excels in all areas but especially in low light. Big and heavy so might not be ideal for packing in somewhere. I got the angled eyepiece and a heavy tripod for it. It's great.

[0.125 lb] The binocular like setup makes it very comfortable In use. I paired it with the ATX 95mm objective and the image is bright even though the light is split into two paths. The image quality is as expected for a top shelf spotting scope. There is not much else I can add to ota optical performance. I will just mention a few things about it when in use.

I compared with the Leica scope in B & H and what made the sale was the focusing ring, it is so smooth and easy to grab and adjust when compared with the tiny and tight shell on the Leica Televid.

The focus aid works fine to help with aiming the acope but it seems cheap being entirely made of plastic, and the forehead rest, for me, is useless.

The BTX and 95mm ATX combination is a large scope and on the tripod, it is not very balanced when mounted on the balance rail.
It feels awful on a ballhead as it "wants" to drop off in all different sides all the time if I don't hold on to it tight while moving it around. So trying to following a moving object does not work with a ball head. It works fine on a video pan and tilt head but I think a gimball head may be better.

I am still looking for a set of tripod legs for this setup. I used a big manfrotto and a medium sized Gitzo but both have annoying vibrations. I am planning to test it on a set of wooden telescope legs.

A minor complaint: the covers for the oculars are on a leash, which is great, but that for the objective is not and I struggle to find a place to store that large front cover when in use.

[0.125 lb] I replaced an older, spotting scope. If you want a high quality lens this is a really top flight one. Yesterday I was using the 60 X high magnification to view bald eagles perched in trees nearly a mile away. Really clear, high quality image. Also the 25 X wide angle works well to locate waterfowl at 200-500 M. Then you can zoom in without losing focus.

[Neoprene] I had the 95mm lens for 3 years and upgraded as soon as this 115mm lens was available. Early morning and late evening light capture is phenomenal! Well worth the dollars to upgrade.

[0.125 lb] I selected this objective lens to combine with the angled viewing eyepiece to primarily use with birding. This was the perfect size lens to meet most of my birding needs--it has great field of view, particularly combined with the extender. This makes viewing birds, ducks, owls, and mergansers which are quite a distance out on/over the Lake or fields--providing ability to easily identify and even see images of high detail. It is heavier than my other scope to carry long distances, particularly with the tripod, though, even as a small, older woman, it is not too difficult. I do plan eventually to get the 65mm to heft around longer distances.

[0.125 lb] Very comfortable for long viewing sessions. Once you get your eyes adjusted from your previous scopes holds. Very confident in holding for mirage based wind holds. Using both eyes is a dream!

[Neoprene] While the images from the 115 are just ridiculously good, this objective lens is very substantial in size. I ordered the Gitzo GT5355LS on a Swarovski tripod head from B&H for the stability. The through-the-lens pictures as part of this review are me hand-holding a smart-phone, so the blur is from hand-shake. The eagle is 200 yards at 70X. The shoreline is 2,800 yards at 30X. If image means everything and you're not intimidated by the size, this is state-of-the-art and arguably the best image money can buy for a spotting scope.
