Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I received this Domke F-2 but it's a couple inches shorter than my 17 year old Domke it's supposed to replace. Is there a Domke shoulder bag that's a bit larger than this F-2?

A: The Domke F1-X or the F-7 are both slightly larger than the F-2, and might be a good fit for you! https://bhpho.to/3gXcjuy https://bhpho.to/3zPMUeW

Q: 2. Would this fit a 1DX+lens ?

A: I don't know the dimensions of your camera and lens. The two removable inner compartments are designed to fit smaller gear. That being said, it fits my D7100 and long 150-600mm lens. You can remove the padded compartments to fit longer gear. That does, however, obviously leave you without padding. It would have been much better designed with configurable padding. The outside is great; the inside a disappointment. Five stars if you have small gear. Three stars if your gear is larger.

Q: 3. Looking at F2 Rugged and the nylon version. Do either come with any type of cover or is one more rain resistant than the other?

A: While neither version comes with a cover, they are equally water resistant.

Q: 4. Could this bag carry EFS-18-55mm macro lens,EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6III,EF 70-200mm F/4L IS USM Canon Rebel T5 1200D camera and accessory?

A: Yes, it will hold all your gear.

Q: 5. Can anyone suggest a light travel cart that would work with a full F2 (including side pockets)? Had recent shoulder surgery and can’t carry yet this is still one of the best camera cases for working on location.

A: The Travel Smart by Conair Folding Multiuse Cart (Black), BH # TRTS36C would be a suitable option for holding a Dome F2 that is fully packed. http://bhpho.to/3i1vCCU

Q: 6. Will this bag accommodate a 6x7 system?

A: I used it for my Pentax 67 system. It would accommodate a body and two or three lenses. The dividers were too small to hold four of those large lenses, but leaving at least one space free added some flexibility. There was plenty of room in the other pockets for film, filters, and other small accessories. I did not use a flash.

Q: 7. Does the shoulder strap still (April 2020) have rubber webbing as earlier Domke bags?

A: The shoulder strap on the Domke F-2 Original Shoulder Bag does have rubber webbing

Q: 8. Are the dividers inside the 4 compartment insert sewn to the walls or are they velcro?

A: Velcro and adjustable

Q: 9. Can this bag's shoulder strap go across my chest? Putting any kind of bag on my shoulder is a good way for it to fall off.

A: To accurately answer this question requires a bit more somatic information. I stand six feet and weight 162 pounds. The shoulder strap expands allowing me to place it across my chest. The bag will ride at waist level. This is my third F-2 in 35 years. I continue to use the other two. One I've had since the early nineties (the other from mid-eighties) is stretched out and hangs a bit lower. The older bags have only one point for strap adjustment this newer bag has two. I have lengthened the strap on one side to its maximum leaving about 6 inches remaining on the other side. The bag material new is stiff at first though over time and with use softens and stretches somewhat.

Q: 10. While going through the review, I read that ruggedwear bags are thinner than the original bag. I am not sure if it is true or not. Can you check on that? If that is the case, I will go for the original F-2 bag

A: Yes, I am sitting next to one of each right now. The ruggedwear bag seems to be a slightly different material than the original. But it is coated with a waterproof coating that still makes it very tough (and repels moisture, which the original really doesn't much). I also received a tin of additional waterproofing (they call it refinishing wax), so you can reapply as necessary).

[Handle] I am a part-time photojournalist. the Domke is great for on the go. My F-2 has plenty of room for all I need. I shoot a Canon 5D II and 2 to 3 lenses flash and necessary goodies. It big enough for what I need and keeps me mobile. it is very rugged, easy to carry and stays on my shoulder well, well thought-out design.

[Military Green] First, I want to thank B&H for having great service, great prices and fast shipping. Regarding this light, I use it on my boat all the time. It's rugged, bright, easy to handle and waterproof. On a boat you need to always have safety gear (flashlight) in functioning order. No corrosion on this light whatever. This is the second one I own. First is still going strong after 3 years. Although on my first, the switch can sometimes be a little finicky...

[Handle] Very nice implementation of the F2 bag, looks great. Only concern is that material seems rather thin/ lightweight compared to the standard canvas. Not an immediate concern, but time and usage will tell.

[Military Green] After trying a total of six different modern backpacks/slings for everyday carry, I unexpectedly found myself thinking maybe I should try Domke. The modern bunch are nice in many ways, but what they suffer from, for me at least, it really quick access to your stuff. Sure, a sling is quick, but most of the time it's too darn small.

Did I really want to go back a carry style I first used years ago when schlepping 35mm SLRs? Not really. But then I saw a photojournalist using an F2 and I realized there's a reason why folks in the news business have used Domke for decades. So, I ordered one.

I don't regret it. No dismounting a backpack; no getting on hands and knees to search for that hidden compartment. Everything is right there on my shoulder, within easy reach. And with the 2-inch, non-slide shoulder strap, it's surprisingly comfortable. And it's built like a tank.

Is it perfect? No, but it has taken center stage in my carry bag collection.

[Handle] This is my 8th Domke Bag over the years. I bought my first F-2 directly from Jim Domke in Philadelphia. I still have it, but it is officially retired after many years of hard use. Domke bags are still my favorite bag.
