This 138mm Revar Cine Compression Diopter 138mm +0.50 Close-Upfrom Revar Cine Compression Diopter 138mm +0.50 Close-Upis crafted using high-quality Schott BK7 glass. With a 30mm polished center and +0.50 magnification, this filter creates a zoom rack effect that causes the edges of the images to be blurred while the center retains the in-focus image. A: The Brilliant Tray Mount Close-Up Lenses fit directly in 4"x5.65" matte boxes. The +1/4, +1/2 and +1 diopter strengths fit in 1 matte box slot. The +2 strength uses 2 slots in the matte box. The +3 diopter strength uses three matte box slots. The permanently mounted 138mm Close-Up Lenses provide a 5.1 inch clear aperture for use even with large diameter wide angle and zoom lenses.

Q: 3. Will this work in the RedRock mattebox?

A: The Brilliant diopters fit in Arri, Bright Tangerine, Chrosziel and Vocas matte boxes. They do not work with RedRock Micro matte boxes.

[+1/2] With filters that cost $400 - $500, investing in these cases makes a ton of sense. Not only do they protect the filters far better than the sleeves they usually ship with, it's much easier to remove the filters without getting them all smudged up with fingerprints. I wish they'd make one for my 138mm Pola! 5

[Close-Up] Make sure your mattebox can hold a double-thick undivided 2 filter stage! Once you have that you are ready to go. This a hefty piece of glass, but really produces a sharp and clean image. Doesn't seem to add excessive aberration to the image. 5

[1.14 lb] I tested the focal length and it is right on. It's not clear to me whey movie makers need these big weak lenses. I needed them for a different type of project and this is the only source I've found for this type of lens. 5

[Close-Up] Best 4x5 variable ND setup I've used to date nearly no color cast all the way through from 2-8stops, just a tiny lil bit as you get to 8 stops but blows away nearly all other variables I've ever used. Mostly use with the Tilta MB12 and works like a charm. 5
