[Steel] My Nexstar 8SE (and most other GOTO telescopes) eats batteries alive. If you plan to use your computerized telescope in the back yard, this is probably your best power solution. If you plan to use your scope mostly in the field, buy a powertank as well.

This piece saves us from having to purchase TONS of AA batteries for the mounts. As we have several portable power supplies with A/C output, this was a perfect match for our specific needs. If you’re someone who’s just using their telescope in the backyard, this will be perfect with an extension cord.

[Black] guided by previous reviewers I purchased this adaptor to eliminate the constant renewing of batteries and of course it does what it is design to do. It came with US type AC plug but converting it to local plug was not a problem, have used over several hours on many nights lately and highly recommend

[Steel] I do a lot of my viewing from my yard or friends cabins and having a AC power sources at those locations makes using my scope worry free. It uses a lot of batteries otherwise. I am building a portable power supply for off the grid viewing as I am not sold on single cell battery power.

[Steel] If you hate batteries and have access to a 110V outlet this is for you! When the telescope rotates you have to be mindful of it or the cord will become tangled around the tripod legs and come unplugged.
