The silver Pyle Pro PDMICR42 Retro Cardioid Vocal Microphoneis a cardioid vocal microphone that brings that iconic, "old school" look and feel, along with a warm vintage sound to your singing performance on stage and in the studio, or in karaoke settings.

Apart from the look, the PDMICR42 combines all the great features that make classic mics ideal for active stage performances. The mic is equipped with a dynamic moving-coil capsule, an integral plosive-reducing pop filter, an adjustable self-tensioning swivel mount, a steel mesh grille, a convenient On/Off switch for muting from the stage, and a universal mic-stand adapter.

With low-noise circuitry, a wide frequency response, and a cardioid polar pattern that lessens the pickup of unwanted off-axis sound such as room reflections, the PDMICR42 delivers clear and present vocal tone. An internal cartridge shockmount reduces vibrations from the stand, which would otherwise muddy your sound.

To get you started right away, the PDMICR42 comes with a 16' XLR to 1/4" TS mic cable for connection to portable PA systems and mixing boards.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it always necessary to push to talk? Can the mic stay on?

A: No, it is a toggle switch not momentary. It will stay on the on position in which the ring around the button lights up as well as a ring around the microphone. If you hit the button again all lights go off and the microphone should be in the off position.

Q: 2. "You can power the mic with 48V phantom power." This sentence is in the description for this product. I don't understand. Is it necessary to buy an additional accessory to use this mic?

A: In order to use this mic, you will need a mixer, interface, or hardware recorder with an XLR mic input, and the ability to provide 48v phantom power. As well, you would need an XLR mic cable to connect it to either of those sources, a mic stand to attach it to, and a pop filter if recording vocals.

Q: 3. Does this work with the blue yeti microphone?

A: Only if you can mount it on a mic stand.

Q: 4. Does this work with a Rode NT1A microphone?

A: Yes. This will work with any mic.

Q: 5. What is the maximum distance the speaker can be from the mic?

A: For best results with the Pyle Pro PDMIKC5 and similar mics, it would be recommended to be positioned no more than a foot or so from the capsule of the mic.

Q: 6. Is it working well (no noises on signal) with 48v phantom power? I need a simple talkback mic to a unit with 48v phantom power which is on while recording with a condenser mic.

A: It doesn't work with phantom power. It takes a 9v battery in the base and needs the battery in order to operate. There is an audible click/pop when the switch is pushed (the volume of which is moderate - neither particularly loud or soft).

Q: 7. Can I use this Sennheiser XS 1 with a mirror less camera?

A: If your camera has an 1/8'' mic input on it, you can use the Kopul XRSM cable (BH #KOXRSM15B) to connect the Sennheiser XS 1 handheld XLR connection microphone to it.

Q: 8. Can this be used with a Comica Boom X-D Transmitter?

A: Yes, the transmitter for the Comica Audio Boom X-D Transmitter has an 1/8'' TRS mic input for direct compatibility with the Pyle Pro Cardioid Condenser Headset Microphone with Flexible Wired Boom.

Q: 9. How about feedback? Does it get much feedback?

A: No, the PGA58 is not prone to feedback. Its cardioid polar pattern focuses on the user's voice while rejecting unwanted background noise and delivers a clear and natural tone.

Q: 10. Do you need to connect it to a speaker

A: Yes

[On/Off] I compared the sound quality of the PGA58 vs the Shure PG48 and the Zoom XYH-5 X/Y Mic capsule by simultaneously recording a baritone singing acapella with the Zoom H5. The PGA58 was clearly superior in the warmth and richness of its sound. Other characteristics were similar. We have used it in church service recordings with good results, including a close-up recording of a piano -- producing more natural sound than the PG48. None of this is surprising and is what you would expect given the product information from Shure and B&H, but its nice to have it confirmed by ear!

[Cardioid] Superior look, sound, aesthetic. Great choice of colors AND includes a very usable cable! You won't find a better retail experience than these Pro's. Absolutely no problems ordering from them, they checked on my purchase to be sure I was happy. I'll be back.

[On/Off] I was on a tight budget and needed two additional mics. I would ordinarily buy the standard Shure SM58, but a B&H rep pointed out that the PGA58 Is a similar professional level model, and 60% of the price. I used an SM58 and the two new PGA58s in an outdoor concert, and could not tell the difference. The SM58 may be a bit more sturdy (it's known to be indestructible), but the PGA58 was excellent for the occasion!

[Side Address] I bought these Mic's for a upgrade with a purchase of a Pyle Pro PT210 120W PA Mixer/Amplifier. I can say they work well with each other, Quality, voice was 100% . This was used in our club house for our meetings which consist of about 100 people. Thanks again B&H for the Great service. Frank W.
