[RGB] Love this little light! Fresnel lens, spot or flood, just wish it was bicolor so I don't have to worry about gels and filters.

[RGB] I've now been using this light regularly for the last 5 months and can confidently say it's paying itself off.



Few things of note...


- Built quality is holding and I'm happy with how its working. The most minor complaint is that it can be a tight fit to get the lamphead onto the Yoke but it does give me confidence that it's not going to come lose.

- The Carry case that is made of hardened plastic covered with fabric is working great. I've rented this light a few times and haven't developed any tears. Years of use may prove me wrong but it's still in good shape.
- Phone app: I know many people won't believe me but I've been quite happy with the Nanlite app and using it on set. I own 8 different Nanlite fixtures and having everything working on a single phone app is really helpful.
- Output: As for the usefulness of this fixture in Studio and on set environments... I use this in combination with x2 720b's, x2 500's, and a few other smaller lights and this holds its place with being able to fill any space I need to light and very often being set outside a window to fill up an interior daytime scene. It's got enough punch that I'm able fill a 8x8 with Magic Cloth and have enough output for the camera.

[940 W ] Was honestly so ecstatic to find these kinds as I've been trying to build up my lighting collection and found these at an extremely cheap rate. I was concerned when I first got them that there might have been a problem, but they perform so much better than I could have ever hoped!

[RGB] Well I left a review back in 2017 after I bought it. Im still quite happy with the Fixture. I recently tested the CRI using my Sekonic C-700, the results hovered around 94.0 to 95.0 depending on temperature. I would say Litepanels general claim of a High CRI rings true but the output is no where near a 575w HMI. There are cheaper lights on the market now like the Aputure Storm 300d II that do output the equivalent of the 575w HMI, however I have not tested the CRI as of yet.

[Yes] I use this light for still photographs, video and even some 8mm and 16mm film production. It has the famous German made Arriflex quality. It's very sturdy and heavy. The focusing fresnel lens turns smoothly and you can focus from pinpoint to flood light. The Arri lenses have that rich warm old school Hollywood glow. THe power cord is included and long enough for most sets and studios. This light gets HOT! Not just warm but VERY HOT! Bring a pair of gloves to adjust the barn doors on front and be careful where you touch the housing. It's not well known but you CAN put a lower watt lamp in here, like a 350 watt to cut down on heat, power consumption and light intensity. The warm light output can be an advantage if working with nudes as it's about as warm as an average space heater! Be sure to get a very good and sturdy set of legs or light stand for this. It's heavy and a cheap stand will topple over and destroy your light or worse, land on a model. There are cheaper fresnel lights out there but build quality is lacking and you will be frustrated in the long run. Old school tungsten lights have a look that cannot be duplicated by LED lights or strobes. Make certain that's the look you want before buying this.

[940 W ] The FL-28 mates to the 1200 and 2400. It's frankly too small on the 24 but is perfect for the 1200. Output diminishes a lot over running a 45° reflector, but the fresnel produces a lovely beam that feels more like the sun - harder shadow and less fringing. I love the build quality and it isn't gigantic like the FL-35.

[RGB] I bought this Sola 4+ fresnel for use as a back light in a typical 3 point lighting scenario. It fits the bill quite well I think. I considered the ARRI L5 for this because it is bi-color, but my budget didn't quite allow for it, so the Sola 4+ was the next best option. The Sola 4+ is light enough to place on a boom without excessive counterweights and allows for easy rigging. The fixture is mostly plastic which gives it a bit of a cheap feel however. The barn doors have plastic hinges but the doors are aluminum. Considering the plastic makes it light weight, which is a huge bonus if you are travelling with this fixture, I think it is a reasonable trade off. The focus range allows fine tuning and quite a narrow spot. Fan is quite enough that most audio situations would not pick it up. The fixture has a small form factor but it packs a pretty good punch for its size. Because it is only daylight balanced, I purchased the 5 piece CTO pack which includes a opal frost diffusion. Not sure I will use the DMX function but it's nice to know it's there incase I do. Overall, I think this light is a pretty good value but it needs to be handled and packed carefully to avoid possible damage. I gave the Sola 4+ five stars because it met my expectations based on the advertising and published specs. Now Litepanels needs to make a bi-color version of this fresnel to truly perfect it!

[60°] At Univ. of Florida, in the production program, we work with the 2x650w, 2x300w kit and I have fallen in love with ARRI lights. The 650w is definitely my go-to light. The build is SOLID. You can use it to light the subject or the background (with a cucoloris ex.). It wont punch through gels and diffusions like the T1, but if you need to do that then get a T1. This is a must for filmmakers whether you rent it or buy it; you can never go wrong with a 650w fresnel on set. You'll need it for something sooner or later!

[940 W ] First of all you can use Sony NPF batteries to power this light. You need a NPF battery plate with 12vdc out. It runs about 3 hours in full power. Rechargeable AA batteries also work great but half the light power (runs about an hour and 20min). It is a perfect size and weight fresnel light. You can shape the light with barn doors if it is used at 50 to 75 degree. It doesn’t get hot so you can run it all day.
