Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is this head compatible with bogey 3021 tripod

A: It accepts a standard 1/4in male tripod thread on the bottom (the smaller size), if your tripod has the larger 3/8in thread size you will need some sort of adapter

Q: 2. Does this head come with a quick release plate? If not, which plate should I buy? I own Nikon D800.

A: A quick release plate is not included. For the D800 I recommend the Arca-Swiss Universal Quick Release Plate with 1/4 Screw (40mm) and Rubber Surface. http://bhpho.to/9g0L6O

Q: 3. What is the base diameter of the P0?

A: I measured mine at 2.125 inches or 53mm. I use it with a Sirui N-2204x and it fits really well.

Q: 4. Back again, after a plate for my Olympus OM-D E-M5 to fit the MonoballFix ZI SP Arca-Swiss Ballhead...What model and number should I order. Kind Regards, Christopher.

A: There are many plates that will work with the OM-D E-M5 camera. This is one option that is designed for that camera without a battery grip,Acratech Arca-Type Quick-Release Plate for Olympus OMD E-M5 and E-M1B&H # ACARPOOMDE5 Mfr # 2183http://bhpho.to/1zt7KcHAnd if you have a grip on that camera this is one,Acratech 2184 Arca-Type Quick Release Plate for Olympus OMD E5 w/HLD6 Battery GripB&H # ACARPOOMDE5H Mfr # 2184http://bhpho.to/1ls8iyE

Q: 7. Good day Gents.. just want to be sure whether the PO ballhead w/ the Classic Quick Release work w/ the RRS L plates and Camera plates ?? Thanks in advance

A: Yes it does. i use a RRS L plate on my canon 5dmlll. Works great. Great ballhead!

Q: 8. Hi, After a Arca-Swiss ball head for my Leica Televid 77 Spotting scope,it will be used in cold mountainous snowy conditions (cold hands) would the MonoballFix be better than the other quick release Monoball ZI to use in these conditions. Also what plate will I order for my spotting scope. Kind Regards, Christopher.

A: The knobs on the Monoballfix will be easier to operate in the cold when wearing gloves or cold bare fingers due to their shape. As for a plate, I suggest the Arca-Swiss VarioKit Universal Quick Release Camera Plate: http://bhpho.to/1ohX7Do

Q: 9. hi,is there a clamp with a escale engraved on it?

A: There aren't any clamps with scales engraved on them. However, there are many Arca-compatible panoramic rails with degrees engraved on them that you could use, such as the Sunwayfoto DPG-3016 Stereography Rail: http://bhpho.to/1cUTch9

Q: 10. Hi thereI definitely want to purchase the p0 bullhead and possibly in the near future the cube, but for now just the p0. The problem I have is that I am coming from manfrotto and have absolutely no knowledge of the quick release plates made by arca swiss. It appears that there are several different types of arca swiss quick release plate i can order from your store. Which is the best all round? Which would give me the best integration if i purchased a different tripod head (such as the cube ) in the future? We cannot purchase arca swiss in New Zealand so i can't physically see what i am buying. I want a long term solution that would cover multiple heads and as many accessories as possible. Which of the p0 quick release /plate combinations would you most recommend? Thanks very much

A: The Arca-Swiss tripod/quick release system is more or less a universal quick release system for many different tripod manufacturers that do not use their own proprietary quick release system (e.g., Manfrotto). I advise the P0 ballhead with the classic quick release, as this quick release system will be adaptable to numerous heads.

[Yes] at 3-5 settings, camera movement is easy, but firm enough. Increasing setting to 10 locks the ball very firmly with out any moement

[Ball Head] dp comes in handy, especially when in vertical or non-level ground. solid product, highly recommend it- you get what you pay for! it does weight a bit, but I guess that expected from the high quality materials? (to make it sturdy)

[Yes] This is the only ball head you need for your DSLR cameras. This model is the dp version, which features double panning. It can keep the camera perfectly vertical to the swinging plane (and vertical), and is ideal for perfect panoramic stitching. The I prefer the screw type quick release over the lever quick release. It's just so much easier, accessible and more rigid. Although you can tilt it 90 you might want an L-bracket too to keep the camera in the center.

[Yes] I agonized over which ball head to order after doing way too much research. I saw the Arca Swiss recommended online, and after my first big shoot with it, it was a great purchase. I've used another well known brand's ball head in the past, but didn't like how the camera could easily flop over when loosening the ball. The Arca Swiss maintains some tension due to the egg-shaped design and is very smooth to operate. The hard part was deciding whether to go with the lever-type quick release system or this one's screw quick release. While I tend to like lever quick releases, the lever on the Arca Swiss looked a little bit too cumbersome to use with too many safety catches to wrangle. The screw type on this one looks to be reliable and will work with a bigger variety of plates without needing adjustment, and it doesn't take many turns of the knob to lock it down. The other hard decision was deciding whether to pay the extra money for the double pan option on this dp version. I'm glad I did because on my first shoot it proved to be a big time saver when framing shots. You don't have to shoot panoramas to get a benefit out of the extra panning. It's nice once you have it leveled to make an an adjustment to pan quickly. If you're getting paid to make photos, saving time is critical, and the extra pan helps out quite a bit in my opinion. I thought it might make the ball head more unwieldy having the extra pan option, but it's pretty unobtrusive. Yes, this is more expensive than some other options out there, but I hate going too cheap and having to re-buy stuff that isn't working. This Arca Swiss I believe will last a long time.

[Yes] This is my second of these heads - I use them on Gitzo tripods with 35mm and medium format cameras. Great quality, smooth and reliable.

[Yes] I've been debating making this investment for over six months. Reviews at B&H as well my photo blog had nothing but high reviews. So I took the jump and waited for Santa to appear (dressd in a brown uniform). It arrived and carefully unwrapped my gift to me. The double panning ball head was engineered to precision - nothing but outstanding quality. The quick release was firm and held my Canon Mark III with the f2.8 70-200 mm lens without any movement. . When the camera & lens were attached to the monoball head it was rock solid. While ownership is costly, the long term benefits will outweigh the intial cost. Can't wait to use my Canon DIII with the the Canon marco lens.

[1.585 lb] I use this to hold a D800/grip with an L-bracket. My heaviest lens is a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 but it will handle much heavier with ease. The tension adjustment allows very smooth ball head movement and the aspheric ball does away with worrying about camera flop It locks with no camera movement or sag. Exquisite workmanship. Well worth the money.

[Yes] I have used a couple of other brand ball heads, but they didn't close to the quality of this head. The head is rock solid when locked or adjustable with a twist of a dial. Arca-Swiss plates makes quick change a breeze.
