Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this bag accommodate two Sachtler Ace video tripods side by side, with or without the heads attached? Is it compliant with normal airline luggage guidelines for checked luggage?

A: You should be able to get two of the Sachtler Ace into the Think Tank Photo Production Manager 40 V2 Rolling Gear Case BH #THPMRC40V2. You will need to check with your carrier for the current size allowances.

Q: 2. Would this bag fit 2 Aputure 300D II, and 1 Aputure 120D II?

A: Yes those items can fit with adjustments of the dividers.

Q: 3. Can you use this as a carry-on on a flight?

A: The Think Tank Photo Production Manager 50 V2 Rolling Gear Case is a high-quality and high-capacity case designed with ballistic nylon. A hard case will always be more durable; however, this is very well made and a great alternative with positive customer feedback.

Q: 8. Would this bag be considered safe as checked baggage? Comparing with a pelican hard case, but would love to lose the weight.

A: The Think Tank Photo Production Manager 40 V2 would not be considered an air-shippable case.

Q: 9. What are the differences of 50 v2, to the previous, now discontinued 50 model?

A: According to Think Tank, the V2 has upgrades in the materials on it and is now lighter in weight versus the original.

Q: 10. How many Profoto D1/B1's would this carry?

A: The partitions that come with the Think Tank Photo Production Manager 40 V2 Rolling Gear Case are not a perfect match for those lights. But not using that as a measure but the actual interior size of the case which is 13.8 x 38 x 9.8". You can squeeze about 3 lights of the b1x or about 6 of the D1. But it will be tight and this is not using the partitions.

[Black] This case had the right size for what we needed. It’s very slight weight while being super solid. Looks well crafted and I hope it’ll last a long time. It came with plenty of extra padding so the options on how to configure the case are endless. Recommended!

[36 lb] Seriously impressed, exceeded my expectations. It's so well built, very tough and quick to assemble and disassemble.

Be sure to add air to the tires when it arrives, all the way up to the recommended 50psi. Also be careful not to completely loosen the grips or attachment bars as the interior screw can fall out. Otherwise an excellent cart.

[Zipper] Ok so this case is amazing. I get tons of gear in it for video production jobs. I could have gotten the larger size but I'm most likely going to travel with it so don't want to haul a 100 lb case around. I know I could probably get even more gear in the larger but this is perfect for my interview setup. I can get my 300x with ballast, 4ft westcott rapid softbox, 2 large light stand and 2 small westcott stands, two 2 ft amaran tube lights, a tripod, and a boom pole with mic. It's a snug fit but it's roll in and roll out for jobs. Definitely worth the price!!

[Zipper] I love my Production Manager 50v2 case and I'm so glad B&H had it in stock! It's extremely durable and can be built out to meet just about any production/travel need. I'm still figuring out how to BEST setup and use my case, but I'm excited about all of the possibilities. It has already been a huge help on the productions I've traveled to since its arrival. I'm already debating buying another one!

I searched everywhere for this case and B&H was the only place that had it in stock. Thanks B&H!!!

[Yes] Was looking for a slightly smaller bag than my large ORCA bag and this one fit the bill perfectly. This bag is designed very similarly to larger ORCA bags. Quality and feature set are great, no complaints. I highly recommend this bag!

[Zipper] This is a bargain...as solid as expected...I replaced all the knobs with #8 metric hex bolts to create a few inches of space at the edges of the shelves... everything from my Innovativ fits this cart. Made is India obviously by folks aware of set work and Innovativ cart design. If you need a solid cart and portability and breakdown are not a big priority, then this stuff works.

[36 lb] I waited many months to be able to order the Production Manager 50 while it was out of stock everywhere. During that time I considered getting the 40 instead while it was in stock but had serious concerns it would not have enough capacity for my particular need. Now that I have the 50 it was worth the wait and all of my mobile studio Portrait Lighting, modifiers, and extra tools/accessories fill out the case perfectly. The 40 would have been too small as expected. Quality is top notch like all my other ThinkTank gear. The price is a lot up front but shopping around it is very hard to find these specs and this durability in the competition. This will take a lot of wear and I'd rather pay the high price up front once rather than constantly pay to replace cheaper and less functional bags, spending more in the long run.

[Black] Firstly, getting a production cart was something I should have done ages ago..

I literally could not have done my last shoot without it. I needed to swap between gimbal, stick, and handheld while going from multiple locations around a fair, throughout day & night.. which required bringing lighting, reflectors, etc...

The 42 cart allowed me to have a place to transfer media from the camera, hold lenses, hold c-stands, etc..

There are other carts, but they are wayyy more expensive, and do essentially the same thing..

The only advantage of some of the other carts is that they offer more options for attachments... but for the money, this is the best one..

Attachments I can STILL get:
C-stand, tripods, Camera Holders, Cup holders, Trays, umbrellas... I'm sure I could also get a monitor stand, but haven't looked..

at 42 it's JUST big/small enough to fit inside of a Dodge caravan standing up straight... of course, can fit almost anywhere if broken down.

PROs:
- it's price is so much better than every other cart..
- it still gets all the attachments
- can hold a large weight capacity
- tires roll across every kind of surface

CONS:
- it will make you instantly regret not having one your whole life
- you will want to get plenty more attachments
- can't fit a 3rd shelf, but that might be a plus in some cases

[Zipper] This bag is a beast.
The allure was that, as a location photographer that essentially carries a studio around, I could fit almost everything in one bag.
This thing is TALL, and very robust.
You will get exactly what you want out of it with the classic, long-lasting, think tank quality.
But you can't get this bag without being ready for some serious weight and space limitations.
I avoid studios with stairs-only at all costs, and standard size elevators / narrow hallways can be a bit of a struggle.
I've been going back and forth regarding whether or not this trade off is worth it, but find myself not wanting to let go of the intuitive organization / customization-friendly inside.
Overall I do recommend, I just suggest taking inventory of what you plan on storing and deciding from there if it's feasible to carry around.

[Zipper] These Think Tank bags are so great. Sturdy and durable. Large. They aren't going to fall apart going through the airports over and over. I put my whole light kit in there and everything has a place and is protected really well. I want to buy another one but everything is back ordered. Love these bags!
