Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with a Sony A7Cr?

A: Yes, the Arca-Swiss Monoball Fix Anti-Twist Mini L-Bracket is compatible with the Sony A7Cr. It only fits tripod heads that have a monoball fix clamp though. It does not work with classic arca clamps.

Q: 2. Will it fit on fuji camera xt2?

A: This bracket is too small. We suggest another bracket as one that should fit right. Sorry, not guaranteed since we cannot test. Arca-Swiss L-Bracket B&H # ARVHLH. For further information, here is the link to the Mini L's web page. https://bit.ly/2LK63Fn

Q: 3. On this MonoballFix version can you rotate the top clamp plate. If you can is there any alignment guide to help align the axis of the clamp exactly 0 0r 90 degrees from the rails?

A: The QR clamp on this system cannot be rotated.

Q: 4. Can the clamp be oriented to a 90 degree angle than that pictured?

A: Yes, the quick release can be rotated to 90 degrees. It has guides so it will be square when you do that to the rail.

Q: 5. What tripod mounting plate is required to mount this system on a standard tripod head?

A: You need an Arca Swiss Z1 plate

Q: 6. What is the width of this rail? I have a Monoball P0 which can take a 32mm rail only. Is there a cheaper alternative that is 32mm wide that you can recommend?

A: The nodal set is for the PO head and is the width of that quick release system. So it should work fine on the head you have. For that head, Monoball P0 this is the only one we are aware of that will work.

Q: 7. What plate and clamp do I use with the Monoball to attach it to my camera and tripod?

A: Since it has a clamp on top, all you would need is an Arca Swiss type camera plate for the bottom of your camera or a lens plate for the bottom of your lens, if it has a lens collar.

Q: 8. How do I attach it to my tripod?

A: We purchased this item and had the same question. Here is what we purchased to make it work, Arca-Swiss Monoball X-Table System B&H # ARMBXTS MFR # 802330, (1)Arca-Swiss SlideFix Quickset Device (1/4 , 0.6 cm)B&H # ARQR14DS MFR # 802012Arca-Swiss Cameraplate 75 for MonoballFix (75mm)B&H # ARCPMB75 MFR # 802284

Q: 9. What does "monoball fix receiver" mean? Would be nice if the jargon was interpreted back to standard vocabulary.

A: The Arca-Swiss Monoball P1+ with Quick Set Pan and Monoball Fix Receiver uses a different type of Arca-Swiss plate than the standard one that most use. Here is a link to the standard Arca-Swiss plate option: https://bhpho.to/2Wpncv4.

Q: 10. Can I remove the top clamp and replace it with a normal classic arca swiss clamp plate?

A: While no reports of doing this have been made and we cannot test it, it is our opinion that the Arca-Swiss MonoballFix Quickset Device that is on top and which holds the quick release plate that it should be easily removable.

[0.49 lb] This is a first rate mono focusing set up. To mount it on a tripod you either need an Arca-Swiss X-system tripod head (or clamp that fits to your tripod) or to convert it to fit a standard Arca-Swiss (not X-system) plate. I used a hexagonal wrench to remove the top clamp shown in the picture and used this clamp, which has a standard 1/4 inch threaded screw hole in it to attach a standard Arca Swiss plate (e.g. Arca-Swiss Cameraplate 75 for MonoballFix). To the top I then attached a standard Arca-swiss compatible clamp (Kirk QRC-2 Quick Release Clamp for Arca-Type Plates - 2 Base). It looks like other people purchased this nodal rail that will take an x-table system mount directly (attach to the bottom rail of macro rail system) and then can be attached to a standard Arca-Swiss mount tripod head. Once set up it works extremely well with adjustable tension and a nice geared system. I chose this product based on weight and length of the rails.

[0.49 lb] I tend to shoot small objects indoors, so purchasing this head worked out well for me. First of all, the change in the field of view by gear operation is small. Secondly, the head itself is small and simple to operate.
If you're using a mirrorless camera or DSLR, this head is rigid enough. I didn't test it on a large format camera.
The feel of the operation is very good. The exterior design is also solid and beautiful.
I can confidently recommend it.

The good points stand out, but there are also a few complaints...
- The Arca-Swiss unique mount (Fix) makes it difficult to set the camera. (It seems to be solved by making a simple spacer by yourself.)
- I also want a pan gear.
- The gears are too solid and my fingers hurt.

[0.49 lb] The action is not the smoothest but works well enough. It is very light and compact but more than strong enough to hold a D3s with a 300/4 on and a Z7ii with the 50/1.2 with the body mounted on the head. I think it will work well on a monopod as well.

It does need an arca Swiss mount on it. I tried to save weight by using the 1/4" mount directly and it is very clumsy.

[0.49 lb] I was worried that the packaged box was slightly damaged, but there was no problem with the stuff.
It has a very good performance, as it is known for, and I liked the very sturdy structure.
Hasselblad x1d ii +35-75 is fixed easily. very good

[5.3 x 3.9 x 2"] Part II

When I first read about this unique ball head from Arca Swiss, I lusted after one. Arca Swiss has placed its smooth, aspherical ball at its bottom and panning above, enabling effective camera leveling without having to tediously level the tripod. It utilizes only two quick and easily identifiable controls which strikes me as the ultimate in simplicity and smooth, intelligent operation without having to give momentary mental energy to deciding ‘now, which knob does what?’ when the light on my subject is shifting by the second.

The Arca Swiss architecture makes leveling the camera an effortless task, requiring nearly no time, nor attention, when preparing for video or still panning.

So this head would be the obvious choice for a kit specially designed for iPhone photography by a photographer who would prefer as few needless distractions from capturing an ephemeral image as possible.

Given that this head would be topped off by a smartphone adaptor, another attraction of the Arca Swiss is its precise slot for 90˚ orientation—perfect for smoothly and effortlessly switching from horizontal to vertical image orientation (or vice versa) with supreme control and without a lot of flopping or fiddling corrections. Perfect for my Aries wife’s birthday!

[5.3 x 3.9 x 2"] This is a great tripod head. I've used this head since November of 2018. I used the Arca Swiss d4 head before this. Both of my heads have the classic Quick Release. The p0 is easier to use than the d4. When the d4 is first set up, both of the knobs must be loosened for general positioning. With the p0, one simple loosing of the the ball head is all that's needed. Then, fine movements are made using the geared knobs, similar to the d4. The ball head and fine geared movements are all secure. The Arc Swiss d4 is a great head too, I just like this one better. Either head is a must for any landscape photographer.

[5.3 x 3.9 x 2"] This is the best option for a ball head if you shoot panoramic's. It negates the need for a leveling base on your tripod. The lockup is convenient and solid. It weighs less than a pound even after an Arca clamp of your choosing is installed. I installed a SS 3/8 x 1-1/2 fender washer between the P0 and Arca clamp so that the clamp knob would clear the Panning knob on the P0. Highly recommended.....
