Q: 1. Someone said... Sony's G Master 24-70 IQ is better than Zeiss 55 f/. 1.8... My question is: How much IQ will be this 70-200 f/. 2.8...? I can't imagine this powerful lens!

A: This lens will give you excellent image quality and sharpness.

Q: 2. will this lens hold focus while zooming?

A: Im not finding any information stating that this is parafocal. If it was, I would think that Sony would have advertised this.

Q: 3. Does this lens focus by wire? Or is it a mechanical focus? How is the focusing when you manually focus? (For video -rack focus, tracking, tactile feel)

A: It is focus by wire.

Q: 4. Could you theoretically attach treads and a Tilta Nucleus-M to this to manually control zoom and focus for video?

A: Yes, this is possible. Gearing can be attached to the Zoom and Focus Rings to enable control via a Follow Focus system.

Q: 5. Is the new g master lens focus by wire ?

A: While yes, it is focus by wire, and while yes, I hate focus by wire, I recently picked up the 24-70/2.8 GM. That lens is also focus by wire, but unlike all it's little brothers and sisters, this one is not accelerated. If you spin the ring to a specific point on the lens, it will focus the same distance every time. I think Sony realized that they had made a huge mistake with all the preceding lenses (especially since they were marketing these cameras to the video community as well; the video community is heavily manual focus), and adjusted some parameters to do away with the whole acceleration thing because NO ONE LIKES IT. I'm so happy that this was addressed with the GM series. It had me super worried about my purchase until I held it in my hands.

Q: 6. I just purchased this lens for use on my new Sony A7R III. Very heavy and hard to imagine using a camera shoulder strap that allows this lens to pull down on the camera? Damage to the camera? What solutions are there for straps while carrying this lens on the A7R while walking around? This is a new system for me. I just converted from Nikon D810. Thank you in advance.

A: I come from a Canon 5D world, moved into a Sony alpha 6500 for a lot of reasons, but weight and size were a big one. That being said, I have always used an over shoulder sling type that secures to the tripod connection point on base of camera body. It swivels and it can literally dangle behind you, hang and all of the weight is distributed up and over opposite should and it wont slip off.

Q: 7. How durable is this lense in weather like rain or dust?

A: I've had it out for Friday Night Lights through many light mist to pouring rain circumstances. I do use a Rain Sleeve & I've not had a problem. When It's been a great lens that pairs wonderfully with my Sony a9. When I get home, I do undo everything & let everything dry overnight. I do not keep it in my bag. When you're investing that much money, I tend to do a bit more to ensure it's worth

Q: 8. Is this lens compatible with the Sony A 6000

A: Yes. This lens is fully compatible with the Sony Alpha a6000.

Q: 9. Is this lens available with a canon mount?

A: No.

Q: 10. Just got it today. Is it normal that the lens twisting just a tiny little once locked on mount. It seems to be a little loose , I guess that is what I meant to say.

A: My FE 2.8 70-200 GM OSS will wiggle back and forth very slightly when mounted on my a7RII.

[0.235 lb] I've been getting LensCoat covers for my big glass for awhile now. Lots of little pieces for this zoom lens but it all works. I actually appreciate that the big piece to cover the barrel at the 400 zoom extension has a Velcro fastener so you can easily decide to wrap the barrel IF you're just using the lens at the longest focal length. Hopefully, I won't lose track of it. Good products.

[0.235 lb] Some say these are very expensive. My feeling is they are well made, fit great, and offer good protection to the lens. Plus the added bonus of camo, your choice! Wouldnt take a big lens in the field without one.

[0.235 lb] When you pay $12,000 for a lens, you want to do all you can to protect it. LensCoat lens covers are the real deal. This is the third super telephoto lens I have covered with a LensCoat cover. All the pieces were cut to fit and the assembly process was quick and painless. Everything fit as it was intended. When you use a lens that is almost two feet long, it tends to get bumped from time to time. The LensCoat cover does an excellent job of protecting the lens from scratches and dings. I recently sold a lens that had been protected with a LensCoat cover. When the cover was removed, the lens looked like it did the day it was purchased. Besides protection, the LensCoat cover provides camouflage and a warm touch on cold days. I would not use a long telephoto without it.

[0.235 lb] I changed camera systems in the last year and had not yet purchased LensCovers for my long lenses. The LensCoat covers do a great job of camouflaging my lens, and protect it from scratches from trees and bushes and the elements. They are great and highly recommend.
