A: I believe yes. I have an older Samsung DVR that came with a 500 meg hard drive. The new 1 terabyte drive worked perfectly OK right out of the box.

A: This is regular BARE drive. If your DVR requires some special embedded software, you need drive from manufacturer of DVR. It works for most of the DVRs I use for.

A: This was made and built for a surveillance system, but you would be able to format it and use it with Mac OS.

[550 TB] I purchased the Western Digital 2TD Purple surveillance hard drive to replace the one that came with my camera surveillance system. The price was reasonable and it very easy to install. It works great and the customer service at Western Digital is great. I definitely recommend it! 5
