Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does its external power supply work with 220V and 50Hz?

A: Yes, this Ubiquiti Networks UniFi XG 6-Port 802.3bt PoE++ Enterprise Network Switch does work with 220v with the included power supply. https://bit.ly/3SvkYpG

Q: 2. how many poe ports does it have?

A: All 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports are auto-sensing PoE+ IEEE 802.3at/af ports by default or can be configured for 24V Passive PoE. The maximum wattage per port when in 802.3at/af mode is 34.2W. The maximum wattage per port when configured for 24V Passive PoE is 17W. The combined power draw of all 48 ports in any configuration combination may not exceed 436W (the switch itself consumes 64W of the 500W provided by the power supply for operation).

Q: 3. Can it be powered from the second port of UAP-AC-PRO?

A: No, the second port on the UAP-AC-PRO would not pass the power through to the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch BH #UBUSWFLEX.

Q: 4. What power adapter can I use with the USW-Flex Switch? I think the PoE-50-60W. Yes?

A: Yes, that is correct.

Q: 5. Pardon my ignorance but I'm not an IT guy. I am purchasing three Sony PTZ cameras that will power with POE. Normally you would look all three via cat 5 but there are many times when the distance of all three combined would be over 100m which is the typical max length of POE from what I gather. If I take the control cable from the PTZ cameras into this box, cam I simultaneously feed 3 cat 5 POE to each camera 100M each? Or is this strictly a switched output rather than using it as a splitter.

A: I would recommend using a Ubiquiti Networks 50V PoE Adapter with Gigabit LAN Port at each desired end location. Injecting power at the site of the PTZ camera at a closer point dropping the distance limitations.

Q: 6. Does this unit support Layer 3 functions such as inter-VLAN routing, static routing?

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Enterprise 8 8-Port 2.5Gb PoE+ Compliant Managed Network Switch with SFP+ is a layer 3 switch.

Q: 7. Can a port be downgraded to 24v passive while other ports remain 802.3af like the larger Unify switches or only able to do 48v?

A: Depending on the mode the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch BH #UBUSWFLEX supports 44-57v PoE.

Q: 8. can i use this with Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Managed PoE+ Gigabit 8 Port Switch with SFP (150 W) if not any advice which one can i use ?

A: Per Ubiquiti's datasheet for this product, the recommended power methods are the Unifi 50V/60W PoE adapter (not included; BH #UBPOE5060W), and the Unifi USW-24-POE and USW-Pro-24-POE switches. You could use it with the switched you indicated as long as you also use the PoE adapter.

Q: 9. Can it deliver power to the UAP-AC-LITE UniFi Access Point?

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch BH #UBUSWFLEX can power a single UAP-AC-LITE.

Q: 10. Can an individual POE port on this switch be scheduled to turn on and/or off automatically (based on a schedule that you setup)?

A: Unless scheduling has been added as a feature in the Unifi Controller, PoE status can not be scheduled. It is either on or off, with additional features such as indicating whether passive or active PoE and such.

[238.1 Mpps] The Ubiquiti / Unifi 48-Port Gbps PoE managed switch is so easy to install, even cavemen say its easy! No serious networking skills required to install. Just have a basic knowledge of network fundamentals, know where your feed is from your broadband modem/router is, plug it in and hang your devices from it. This is even better if you have Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC PRO (PoE) 802.11ac Scalable Enterprise Wi-Fi Access Points wired to the switch so you can easily manage your wifi access points. The 48-Port Gb PoE switch is managed by downloading the Unifi Network Server software which by plugging-in your laptop's ethernet port to a port on switch and then running the software lets you adopt the managed switch, then adopt the access points (AP), assign them wifi names and select which AP gets all or specific wifi access which you can control guest and private access points. Ubiquiti has a long history of producing GREAT products and online support videos and tutorials for everyone to follow and figure out in minutes/hours based on your knowledge and skills. GET THIS SWITCH for current and future networking needs!

[720 W] This was my first time shopping with B&H. Only good things to say. For a price below MSRP, I was able to get this switch when it wasn't in stock on the UniFi website! Packed with care. Has been functioning well for past few weeks of use w/ 2 2.5GB access points 10GB RJ45 connection. Will definitely be buying again from B&H.

[150.00 W (Max)] Overall love Unifi line products including this switch. Works great for an office or small business. Will be using POE for desk phones, cameras, and APs.

[17.42 lb] If your in need a managed switch with full Nbase-T and 10Gbase-T support with POE this is gonna be hard to beat. You will need a Unifi controller to run this switch as it does not have an independent GUI for management. But if your already in the Unifi ecosystem or your interested in buying into it, this makes a solid 10G copper and SFP switch for a home office, home lab, or small to medium office. The controller makes configuration simple and fast. It has full VLAN support and can be used as either a small core switch or a multi gig AP / client switch.

My use case was to provide 2.5Gbps links to a router and PC, and 10G to a NAS. Then I use a downstream switch for the rest of the network. So far, aim very happy. However I will say the port negotiation for speeds above 1G is flaky. I ended up setting the port speeds manually which prevents the temporary port disconnects I was experiencing. This is the only com only complaint I have. Build quality is excellent. It is not fanless but virtually silent though I'm not pulling any POE out of it.

[Yes] My basic suggestion for a 5 user or less network. Always Buy the Biggest One the Budget will allow for Growth.

[34.2 W] We have two of these switches in deployment at a small business. One is primarily for handling PoE security cameras, while the other is for workstations. Has been very reliable and not given us any issues in about 3 years we've had these units.

[Yes] We love these switches for our clients. VoIP phones can be powered with this unit.

[Steel] Ubiquity makes some great hardware with a polished Apple look and their prices are very competitive. The UWS-Enterprise-48-PoE is a 1U switch and the only one in the current lineup to provide a total of 52 ports w/ 48 of them @ 2.5Gb and 4 of them @ 10Gb (SFP+).
The best thing about this layer 2 switch is that each of the 48 ports is not only 2.5Gb speed but also PoE+ with a total aggregated PoE capacity of 700W. Great for the new WiFi 6E Access Points that need 2.5Gb per port. The switch also supports Ubiquiti's proprietary redundant power system as well as a locking system for a standard power cord.
Like all UniFi gear, adoption is a breeze via bluetooth from their Network App, or from the cloud console, provided you are running the Network App on your own server (it's free) or on one of their appliances (UDR, UDM-Pro or UDM-SE).
For cooling the switch has 3 small fans in the center back. Upon power-up, the switch is surprisingly quiet, unlike Cisco switches that push the fans to maximum. Also unlike Cisco and most others, the price is very reasonable. Per-port speed and PoE controls, diagnostics via Network App, LACP and other advanced networking features round off this great offering. The only challenge with this switch is finding one in stock.
