Dual Thunderbolt 3 ports allow you to daisy-chain up to five additional devices through a single cable to your computer.

This array comes preinstalled with two 24TB 7200 rpm Enterprise-class hard drives for a total storage capacity of 48TB. Supporting speeds up to 550 MB/s, the Blackbox PRO RAID is built for demanding workflows and mission-critical projects.

Blackbox PRO RAID supports hardware RAID 0, 1, JBOD, and SPAN, giving you the flexibility to choose RAID 0 for speed or RAID 1 for redundancy. Set it and forget it without needing to deal with finicky and slow software-based RAID.

Streamline your workflow with onboard CFast 2.0 and SD UHS-II card readers. Use the USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port to connect fast SSD storage or charge peripherals.

Connect a 4K monitor directly to your Blackbox PRO RAID Thunderbolt 3 and streamline your desk setup.

Blackbox PRO RAID is formatted for macOS computers and is Time Machine compatible right out of the box. Plus, it can be easily reformatted for use with Windows.

Don't be afraid to put the Blackbox PRO RAID to work. The rugged aluminum shell acts as a heatsink keeping the internal hard drive at its optimal temperature to deliver higher sustained speeds.

Get peace of mind with a 3-year limited warranty with full hardware coverage, including the cables, as well as 2-year level 1 data recovery and one year of advanced replacement.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the display port work as like normal dock to extend the monitor with macbook air?

A: Yes, the DisplayPort on the Glyph Technologies Blackbox PRO 8TB 2-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array with Hub (2 x 4TB) can be used to connect your MacBook Air to a monitor.

Q: 2. Can you use this array with two separate computers at once using the two Thunderbolt ports?

A: No, you can not use the SanDisk Professional 96TB G-RAID Shuttle 8 8-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array (8 x 12TB) with two separate computers at once using the two Thunderbolt ports.

Q: 3. What is the difference between the 20tb and 16tb. Seems to be a jump in speed from roughly 500mb/sec to 1000mb/sec is this true in a raid 5?

A: I just looked at the benchmarks for the 20TB model, and I do not see anything that suggests 1000MB/sec performance under any circumstance. Both of these should be in the mid 500MB/sec range in RAID 5.

Q: 4. What is the difference between Raid 5 and Raid 5 Enterprise. Also does it come with a cable?

A: The Enterprise version comes with server grade hard drives. These are built for 24/7 operations with drives that are designed to run continuously. Cable is included.

Q: 5. Is the rugged shell removable? It's just a hair too tall to fit on my desk...wish it was at the height of my Mac Studio :(

A: The outer casing of the Glyph Technologies Blackbox PRO is not designed to be removed.

Q: 6. Where do you buy replacement hard drives for this model?

A: You can choose any SATA III 2.5" or 3.5" hard disk drives (HDD) or solid-state drives (SSD) to install. If creating RAID sets, be sure to use the same spec'ed drives.

Q: 7. Does it work with windows ?

A: The ThunderBay 4 is not supported on a Windows computer. Please note that it is also not supported in Windows when running on a Mac in BootCamp.

Q: 8. what is the difference between the RAID 5 and the RAID 5 Enterprise HDD?

A: The enterprise model comes equipped with higher quality drives thus making the manufactures warranty a Limited 5-Year Warranty vs Limited 3-Year Warranty on the non enterprise model. The enterprise model also offers a Free 1-Year, Level-1 Data Recovery.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with M1 chip computers? If no, will there be a firmware update?

A: Yes, the SanDisk Professional 96TB G-RAID Shuttle 8 8-Bay RAID Array is fully compatible with Macs on the M1 platform.

Q: 10. Do the Softraid software is included, and with an unlimited license, no annual fee ou renewal?

A: I just received this and the SoftRAID says it is only good for 14-day trial. So NOT free. And for RAID 5, you need the Pro version at $249... Not free.

[48 TB] Bought raid to handle over two weeks worth of shooting 4k. Working well so far, and definitely a bit faster/efficient than my previous way of working with a bunch of drives daisy chained together!

[48 TB] Works very well. Arrived in a triple packed and buffered box. This little 4 drive bay Array is surprisingly heavy. Has rubber feet to stand on and wont scratch the desk or wood flooring. The fan is a bit audible if this unit sits on your desk and you are used to the quiet. Overall a good choice.

[1x Fan] This is the first RAID system I have set up. I settled on the OWC with included drives because I felt like it would be less hassle. I did have a few problems setting it up but the OWC customer service team was great and worked with me until I had I it set up the way I want it.

This is super fast and holds a lot of data (even though I went with a RAID 1 0 configuration). I will definitely buy another one when I need to daisy chain for more storage. A big thumbs up!

[1x Fan] Fantastic product! Relatively quiet for what it is; goes great under my desk instead of on top of it. Ready to use right out of the box. I do wish the cord was a little longer.

BUT kind of annoying that after paying for such a great item I also have to go buy software to run an actual RAID on it. Sure people do different things on these enclosures. But tacking on another 50 or 100 bucks to the price to get it to the most common functions of the advertised process feels cheap or better nickel-and-dimed.

[Aluminum] Lot's of space, very fast, fans and drives are quite for spinning drives... Setup is easy. It comes with trial software and then it asks you to purchase them for a large fee.

[48 TB] Dead simple setup with my new Mac Studio. OWC's support is excellent, from the initial purchase decision to installation (and I presume support down the road). Only minor complaint is the fan noise. A lot quieter than my old Promise Pegasus raid but still noticeable.

[2x 3.5"] As a video editor, I need a system that has quick read/write speeds, is secure with its data backup, is easy to set up/use/upgrade, and, ideally, is affordable. This RAID system has given me all of these elements. Some users mention having problems with noise from the fan. As in most cases, it depends on your needs. If you need absolute silence to do audio recording, you may want to find a separate space to store this unit. But the fan is really not too loud, to be honest. It's a great product, especially for the price.
