Q: 1. I would like to attach a camera to this and shoot straight down. Camera must stay absolutely stable and in position. What else do I need?

A: Take a look at this...Impact Flex Arm Super Clamp Kit B&H # IMBHE102K MFR # BHE-102K

Q: 2. What is the diameter of the pipe?

A: It's metric, 3.1 cm (a bit over 1 3/16 ).

Q: 3. Can I bring this as a carry on item on a flight?

A: Yes, the Manfrotto 244N Variable Friction Magic Arm may be carried in a carry-on case for flight travel.

Q: 4. Is there an adapter that allows it to be attached to a light stand?

A: There may be some adapter out there that could be used but it would be a sloppy fit. I have mine mounted to a Manfrotto tripod that has a geared center post. This setup is ROCK SOLID when taking photos with studio lighting.

Q: 5. will this work for a canon fx 300 video camera or is it designed for smaller dslrs?

A: As long as your camcorder has 3/8 -16 female tripod sockets to connect the camera to the Manfrotto 131DD Tripod Accessory Arm (or you will be using a tripod head on the threads to convert to the smaller 1/4 -20 threads, and as long as the tripod can support the weight of the arm and the camcorders you wish to connect to the arm, it should be compatible for your usage needs.

Q: 6. Would this hold the weight of a 27 inch Imac?

A: No, Manfrotto 131DDB Tripod Accessory Arm for Four Heads (Black) is made to support the weigh of most cameras. It can work with a laptop. But the weight of a 27 inch iMac is to heavy.

Q: 7. Can the arcs quick release bracket be completely removed from the magic arm?

A: The RC2 quick release on this Magic Arm can be removed if needed.

Q: 8. How far from the tripod mount can one of the top mounts be positioned?

A: From the center of the center mount to the center of the end mount it can be up to around 16 inches.

Q: 9. Could this fit safely on a manfrotto befree (weight limit around 8lbs)? Or is there a safe weight limit?

A: The befree supports 17lbs, so it should be ok.

Q: 10. Could this item be used to attach a small shelf or mouse tray to a tether table? I need to find a solution that will support the weight of the mouse and my arm.

A: No, this isn't designed to hold your arm. Please call or chat with us to discuss how we can help you to meet your needs.

[2] I bought several of these mounts already, but let me start by stating that I did NOT buy them for their intended purpose (which is for mounting small cameras like a personal handheld or a GoPro to a stationary base, or perhaps even lighter professional cameras)... Instead my use of them (misuse of them) was to attach arrow quivers to the side of high-powered hunting crossbows (I wanted to be able to infinitely customize the position of the quiver assemblies). And for my purpose this mount ALMOST worked beautifully. It easily supports the added weight (more than that of any of my cameras) and it seamed very solid and appeared to hold up to the much greater leverage presented by a 22 inch long arrow package against its tiny 1/4 inch balls (which made for a rather extreme fulcrum point), but field testing revealed that it would slip slightly from recoil-shock when actually shooting (which in my case created a potentially hazardous condition that could get someone hurt). And so in the end I upgraded the bows much larger 1 inch steel and rubber ball motorcycle camera mounts intended to take road vibration and shock of potholes (and this worked perfectly)... Anyhow, that is not what THIS tiny 1/4 inch all-metal mount was ever intended for to begin with. But I can tell you that my misuse presented real-world test conditions which were way-way more extreme than you should ever encounter when using it for its true purpose. So I'd expect it to work out absolutely great as an actual static camera mount. It really is a solid design; very compact, all metal, precision machined parts, even the turn knobs are metal, so you can really torque this thing down very tightly without it failing; there is no plastic in any of the design. It is very clearly well worth the money. And I will definitely still use the 2 I have to set up stationary cameras in the field. In fact, they are so nice that I will likely buy more to use with all of my trail-cams.

[1/4"-20 Male ] I use it to hold camera remotes exactly where I need them. A pin in the 1/4 thread holes allowed me to add a Varizoom rocker on the same assembly. This is a versatile problem-solving widget.

[1/4"-20 Male ] Really, really tiny, which is great because I'm just throwing it in my camera bag as an extra monitor mount. Seems solidly built!

[1/4"-20 Male ] I purchased a few of these to make a custom mount for my car to hold the iPhone I use for navigation away from the dashboard to keep my phone from overheating in the summer. Works perfectly. Stays tight and exactly where I want it. They also seem to be made well.

[0.18 lb] Looked at a bunch of different arms and landing on this one. My old Hollyland kit came with a similar arm and I was looking for one just like it. This works and it is sturdy. I am using it to mount my teradek transmitter to my camera.

[1/4"-20 Male ] The magic arm is pretty easy to use, the whole thing loosens and tightens with a single clamp which is really nice.

[0.18 lb] Beefy enough for what I needed it for. Knob has a good bite to tighten it down.

[Aluminum] I've got two of these and plan on buying more soon. They're nice and small but still strong enough to hold my Ninja V with no issues.

[2] Very well built magic arm. Wish they have a 3/8 to 1/4-20 because very few things actually have a 1/4-20 mount with locking pins.
