Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I own a Pentax K20D dSLR. How is this Pentax 1.4x teleconverter better than the Tamron 1.4x teleconverter I already own for this (older) camera?

A: I don't know anything about the Tamron 1.4x, but I too had an earlier 1.4x for which I paid $99. I forget the brand off the top of my head. In comparison, the Pentax is vastly superior (with my K-3; I'm not sure about how well it will work with a K20D). The picture quality is superb (while the cheaper device produced images that were no better than what Photoshop could do in post-processing). The in-lens auto-focus is supported in both my Pentax 300 and Sigma 150-500 and it works well and quickly with both. It does not work so well with my Sigma 18-250 lens (tends to overshoot and flip back and forth while trying to focus -- this can be overcome by using Live View). Also, with the Pentax lens, but not the Sigmas, the presence of the teleconverter is detected and included in the metadata, so, for example, the 300mm lens is shown as shooting at 420mm.

Q: 2. Will it work with a D500?

A: Yes, the Lensbaby Velvet 28mm f/2.5 Lens for Nikon F would be compatible for use on the Nikon D500 DSLR camera. Do note that this is a fully manual lens with no electronic contacts to communicate with the camera, so you will have to focus the lens manually and set the aperture using the aperture ring built onto the camera.

Q: 3. are these brand new in a sealed box?

A: Yes, the new Lensbaby Velvet 28mm f/2.5 Lens for Canon EF (Silver) BH #LEV2825CEFS are brand new in a sealed box from the factory.

Q: 4. Wouldn't I be able to get the same effect using a filter on my 28mm lens?

A: It might be possible to find a similar filter but it would be hard. Specially an effect where the subject looks soft and the background highlights look rounded and bloomed.

Q: 5. Where are lensbaby lenses made or assembled? Thanks, in advance for your reply.

A: The Lensbaby lenses are made in China.

Q: 6. Will this lens work on a Pentax 55-300 lens? Thanks. Steve

A: You may or may not be happy with the results. Bear in mind that teleconverters are designed to work properly with prime (fixed) fast lenses...f4 or faster. On zooms, even on fast zooms like 70-200f2.8, the results will not be that great. 55-300mm.... Probably not worth spending $$500 for a TC since the performance and quality will be marginal. I don't like it in my 70-200 f4 or f2.8

Q: 7. I own a Pentax K-3 with several lenses. Two of them are Sigma's. I am planning to use this coverter on my Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro. Is this a viable choice to extend my capabilities? Sharpness? Loss of stops? Thank you!

A: I use the converter with a K-3 & a Pentax 300 mm F4 lens. As everything is Pentax all the lens functions are maintained and the camera recognizes the set up as a 420 lens. The set up dropped 1.6 F stops. Images are tac sharp!

Q: 8. Is the EF version of this lens compatible with my Canon 90D?

A: The EF version is compatible with the Canon 90D.

Q: 9. Which is a good lens for jewelry? For canon rebel T6s

A: The Sigma 70mm macro would be a great lens for jewelry with the Canon T6s camera. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/2BNkC9q

Q: 10. Is the focal length transmitted to the camera corrected? For example, if used with a 200mm, is the combination 200mm + 1.4x converter transmitting the info 'focal length = 280mm' to the camera? (Important for stabilization)

A: It does register if you use it with a Pentax lens. It shows 420mm with my DA*300mm F4 and 140mm with my Pentax 100mm WR. Not sure about the rest. Probably so if you you a fast lens. Dont know about non Pentax lenses.

[12] I like the way this optic makes your subject stand out from a background. Shooting in live-view helps with focus and being able to see just how much background blur/bokeh you are getting. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking at adding this to their bag.

[Pentax K] I am a huge fan of anything Lensbaby and the twist 60 is no exception. The focus is sharp when you find it and the Bokeh is beautiful and unique to the cameras of the past.

[46 mm (Front)] I've only had this lens a few days, but it's going to become a new favorite. The thing one has to understand is there is a sweet spot for focus and you have to find it. When the brass colored element is extended and the aperture is wide open to 2.5, I zoom with my feet or make tiny focus adjustments on the black focus ring. After a bit of practice, one gets to know how to find that sweet spot quickly. It makes gorgeous images.

[f/22] I just bought this lens a couple of weeks ago and have been really enjoying it! I mainly shoot people and it has created some beautiful family and children's portraits. It is a manual focus so that is the only thing that can sometimes throw the image off, but I am not finding that to be too much of an issue. Love the swirling effect and am getting a great response to the images created by it from clients and friends. For the price I think it is worth it!

[f/22] This optic does exactly what is says. Really makes your subject stand out from the background with it opened up. Pay attention to the manufactures suggested usage and try to use live view for best focus.
