You may also introduce vignetting in the corners. Its better to use the square Lee ND and Lee Grad filters in a Lee holder which is attach to your 77mm lens via a Lee 77mm adapter ring. Then place the Grad first to balance/darken the sky with the below scene, then add a ND to make a long exposure. Depending how dark is your ND Filter is, you will need calculate the number of stops introduced to your base exposure.Hope that helps.
