  • Whether you’re an owner/operator looking to build a compact system, or a rental company with existing Allen & Heath stock, the SLink connection on Avantis Solo allows true flexibility by connecting to the entire range of Allen & Heath audio expander hardware.
  • Add a Dante card to your system, and you’ve got even more options with A&H's dedicated Dante expanders, DT168 and DT164-W.

  • For local I/O, Avantis Solo is well equipped with XLR analog inputs and outputs, plus AES (stereo in, stereo out).
  • Two additional I/O Ports allow Avantis Solo to benefit from the full range of current dLive option cards, including Dante (64×64 and 128×128), Waves, gigaACE, MADI, and more, expanding the scope for system integration, FoH / monitor splits, and multitrack recording.

  • Avantis Director—Avantis Director is a free Windows and Mac OS application enabling offline editing and online control capabilities.
  • Avantis MixPad—Avantis MixPad is an engineer’s mixing tool, providing wireless mobile control for Allen & Heath Avantis digital mixers. It gives you the freedom to walk the room or stage and control the sound right where it is needed. Avantis MixPad and the Avantis mixer can work together to provide simultaneous control of independent functions, for example one engineer using the mixer to mix front-of-house sound, and another using the iPad to mix monitors onstage. Several iPads can be connected, each providing independent control.
  • Avantis OneMix—OneMix is a cut-down version of the Avantis MixPad app that locks control to a single Aux (monitor) mix. Multiple iPads may be set up by the Admin user to give each musician customized personal monitor control via Wi-Fi connection to Avantis without the risk of affecting the other monitors or the FOH main mix. Avantis OneMix can be configured to provide as much or as little control as needed.
  • IP Controllers—Avantis is compatible with our range of networkable, PoE compatible remote controllers, which can be programmed via the Avantis mixer or Director software, and configured to control any aspect of the system.
  • Custom Control—Customizable cross-platform control app providing elegant, bespoke control over Avantis, dLive and AHM audio systems.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do you select mic/line Hi-z inputs? I played with the 18T at my local dealer and could not find these settings in the menus.

A: The XLR inputs on channels 1-8 and XLR-1/4" inputs on channels 9-16 can be used for mic- or line-level input on the Allen & Heath CQ-18T Compact 18-Channel Digital Mixer with Touchscreen, but DI is required for Hi-Z input (instruments like a guitar and bass). Only the CQ-20T has Hi-Z inputs on channels 15-16.

Q: 2. Can this connect to a digital stage box running cat5 instead of a snake?

A: No, the Allen & Heath CQ-18T will only adapt to a stage box that runs off a snake. the cat5 input is only for the ability to input and output digital signals in parallel to a computer. Please review which stage boxes we have avaliable. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/accessories/Stage-Boxes-for-the-Allen--Heath-CQ-18T/1782750-REG-49489

Q: 3. Are the line inputs pro level +4 dBu or consumer level -10? Thanks. Really liking how this looks.

A: The Allen & Heath CQ-18T Compact 18-Channel Digital Mixer's balanced outputs are +4 dBu.

Q: 4. Wgat us the latency while using as an audio interface?

A: The system latency for the Allen & Heath CQ-20B Digital Mixer is rated at less than 0.7 milliseconds from the local mic input to the main XLR output, with all processing in or out.

Q: 5. Can we operate it with battery in the field?

A: The Allen & Heath CQ-12T Compact 12-Channel Digital Mixer with Touchscreen is not battery-powered.

Q: 6. Does the CQ have midi?

A: No, the Allen & Heath CQ-20B Ultracompact 20-Channel Digital Mixer does not support MIDI.

Q: 7. What's the internal processing resolution 96kHz, 48kHz or something else?

A: The internal processing for the Allen & Heath CQ-20B runs at a 96kHz sample rate.

Q: 8. Since the 18T offers its own wifi, does it provide dhcp? That is, could it become the network hub for a portable production?

A: No, the Allen & Heath CQ-18T cannot be used as a network hub.

Q: 9. With this recording mixer, do i still need a DAW (such as an avid mbox) or a microphone pre amp?

A: A USB connector delivers direct integration with Mac and Windows computers, and a copy of Sonar LE recording software is included. So no additional purchase is necessary for computer integration. There are 6 line/mic inputs available as well.

Q: 10. Is there an AUX Send for doing mix-minus setups?

A: The Allen & Heath CQ-12T Compact 12-Channel Digital Mixer with Touchscreen does not have a mix-minus feature.

[109 dB ] The SQ-5 is really well laid out. For a 48 input frame (16 local mic inputs, all the rest via digital stage boxes) that fits in a 19" rack space this board is packed. Its on screen features, functionality and software are very similar to the Midas M32. Unlike other rack mount mixers this one has a full 7 inch touch screen. The knobs are laid out symmetrically and the faders are very fast and responsive when switching between layers. The software's intuitive layout makes it easy to navigate complex mixes. I almost bought a Midas, but like the layout, additional channels and the built-in light bar on this unit better. The only issue I've noticed is the screen rotary knob (which adjust the values of the on-screen parameters) isn't as responsive is the rest of the rotaries. For example, if you scroll it too fast, the numbers will hiccup and skew. I've asked around in groups and have found this problem seems to be inherent in other A&H digital boards. It's likely a fix that can be accomplished via firmware upgrade. If you don't want to hard mount in a rack, but prefer a foam lined case like I do, B&H sells a ProX rack case for the M32R that will also fit this board...but you'll have to save the hard packing Styrofoam that comes with the SQ-5 to adapt to the case. I also notice B&H now sells a ProX rack to fit the SQ-5. The cost of this rack case is nearly double the M32R case, so if you have the skillsets to cut foam and fit, you can save some money. I've uploaded a picture guide for the foam conversion in my review of the ProX M32R case (XS-MIDM32R) on B&H. Overall, I am very happy with the SQ-5. Small, lightweight, full size screen, affordable. You won't be unhappy.

[USB Drive] I have owned the Xone 22 as well, and I think this one is laid out better. A&H always has a great sound. Definitely a great value for your buck.

[USB Drive] I bought this mixer for my mobile backyard setup. I was having issues over gain control and gain output matching.

I have to say, the build and quality is great as many have mentioned. It sounds amazing as well, I hear and see a quality product as I use this item.

The only thing I did not like with the product was that with the DC Power Supply, it comes with a EU plug (CEE 7) to
IEC 60320 C13. It was not mentioned anywhere. Luckily I have a typical IEC 60320 C13 to US style plug (NEMA 5-15P) laying around so it wasn't too big a deal for me. I would have been disheartened to really need to use the product but not know and not have purchased the correct plug in time.

Besides that, I totally recommend this mixer!

[2x I/O Card] This console is by far the best sub $5k console out currently.

I own an M32, and take this SQ5 desk out 100% of the time unless a band specifically requested the M or X series.

Completely future proof with its DSP power, plugin options, full 96k, all in a 19” rack is very impressive.

It’s physical design borrows some things off Digico and it’s user interaction takes some notes from Avid’s S6L line (touch anything on the screen and it moves onto the rotary encoders).

Very fast and fluid console with a great option card selection already available, and a great plugin package for those in need. Porter over from the flagship Dlive consoles, Allen & Heath really has a winner with this desk.

[Yes] Let me start by saying that it arrived 2:30 in the afternoon. I had 2 hours before I was leaving for a gig. I decided to break the golden rule of DO NOT take a sophisticated piece of gear straight to a gig. Within one hour, I had it set up for my 6 piece band. Customized and individual monitors all set up. I took my DL32R for just in case but the A&H performed beautifully with no issues. Yes, I did download the app before the mixer arrived so I could play with it and learn the workflow.

THIS IS AN AMAZING mixer. The auto for gain and feedback really does work. Mic preamps sounds great. I barely did any eq’ing. It’s super compact and light weight. I did buy the rack ears and now have it in my rack. I spend the next day after the gig and did a bunch of tweaking just to learn it better. I am super happy with this mixer (much better than the competition). Looking forward to the next gig and the next...

And B&H is great.
