Q: 2. Does this come with any cables?

A: Yes, the Samsung T5 EVO USB 3.2 Gen 1 Portable SSD drives do include a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box.

Q: 3. What real-world speeds can I expect writing to these drives? (large sustained transfer speeds, 128GB-512GB written to the drive sequentialy at a time)

A: As per the manufacture the PNY Technologies 4TB EliteX-Pro USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C Portable SSD could operate at read and write of roughly 1,500 MB/s. However the limiting factor is often the media that the PNY Technologies 4TB EliteX-Pro USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C Portable SSD is transferring from.

Q: 4. Does this slow down to super slow speeds when its 75% full?

A: It is common for drives, such as the Samsung 8TB T5 EVO USB 3.2 Gen 1 Portable SSD, to slow down when nearing full capacity. However, we can't say how much the drive would slow down nor at what capacity level this would happen.

Q: 5. Can you password protect this 1TB LaCie SDD (or any other LaCie SDDs)?

A: The LaCie 1TB Portable USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C External SSD v2 can not be password protected. The LaCie 1TB Rugged USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C External SSD BH #LASTHR100080 has hardware Seagate Secure self-encrypting technology and a password system.

We just purchased 2 of the original version of the 2TB SSD - and I was considering buying a 3rd tonight when I saw that it had been discontinued - and apparently replaced by this version 2 - other than cosmetics, what dirrerences are there between the two versions. I have already loaded about one TB into the first unit and it appears to be functioning very well indeed?

A: V2 is faster and smaller than the older version.

Q: 8. Can one use lightning to usb c adapter on the crucial cable and if so what is the compromised speed of up and download ?

A: The performance of the Crucial 2TB X9 Pro USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD for Mac, B&H # CR2X9PRMAC9B, would be limited to USB 2.0 Speeds (480mbps) if you use it with a Lightning to USB adapter so it would be significantly slower than using it with a device that has USB C 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) connection.

Q: 9. Is this able to be formatted to APFS?

A: Yes, you can reformat the LaCie 2TB Portable USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C External SSD to APFS.

Q: 10. I'm hoping to use this as a boot on my late 2015 iMac. Is there a way to connect it to a Thunderbolt 2 port?

[0.85 lb] I bought this drive to replace a rugged La Cie whose ports were going bad. It doesn't have the rubber protection of the La Cie, but it's so small, you can easily slip it into your pocket and protect it like that. It comes with ExFat formatting , which although compatible with Monterey OS, is NOT compatible with Time Machine. So step one: reformat to APFS. Then it works great and can be backed up to Time Machine along with my other drives. If for some reason you decide to keep the ExFat formatting, be aware that it is a data hog, causing your files to take up 1.5 to 2 times more space than APFS requires.

[Bus Powered] I needed another external USB SSD to handle all of the raw image files I need to work on. I use it primarily as a vehicle for taking my raw files on the road and, when I am traveling, as a means for storing those files.

I bought my first Crucial external SSD (the X6 version) for the same purpose and, when I ran out of space (it has a 2 TB capacity), I decided I needed a larger drive that was faster, if that was possible - so I bought my first 4TB XT10 Pro drive. Well, after finding that it's a real screamer and filling that drive with raw files, I decided I needed another one, so here I am, with the second 4TB drive I'm now reviewing.

So, what do I like about my two 4TB X10 drives? They are FAST! And they're compact. With their USB 3.2/C connections, I can have both connected to either my workstation or my laptop at the same time, giving me 8TB of extra capacity, especially important on my laptop, which has only a 1TB internal SSD. And, when I'm out shooting, 50GB of raw files isn't uncommon.

How fast are these drives? Fast enough so I can edit raw files on my 14-core i7 laptop rapidly without a single second of slow performance.

While I'm totally satisfied with my Crucial SSDs, I wish they were larger. Frankly, when those larger drives are available, I'll be buying them.

If anyone is wondering what I'm doing with my 2TB X6 SSD, I'm using it for JPG files. So, when I travel, I carry my three external SSDs with me.

[50 G / 11.00 ms] This is my first SSD and I love it! Speeds are great and more than enough for me, I love that it comes with USB A and C cables, its a very nice touch for those of us who still have USB A ports to use and not ONLY USB C ports.

[3.3 VDC] For SSD's I've mostly used SanDisk (and a few Lacie drives) but decided to try this one since it is a bit lower priced. It's very fast and I've used it for three edit projects so far in the past three months with no issues. I'm able to play 6K RAW video back in real time, do complex After Effects renders (UHD resolution, using a second drive for cache), and just about anything else post-production related with all the assets on this drive.

Plan on getting more of these but after this first trial run with the Transcend 2TB USB 3.2 I have nothing but a positive experience.

Works perfectly with both, zero glitch.

I don't use Windows so can't comment on it.
