Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. how round is it? trying to figure out how chunky it is in the hand.

A: The diameter of the Leofoto Spider MT-04 Aluminum Mini Tripod with LH-30 Ball Head excluding knobs, is roughly 1.85" / 47mm. The legs themselves are squared off, and not round, so it would not be a totally smooth feel.

Q: 2. What is the weight of this ball head?

A: The RRS BH-30 with compact lever-release clamp weighs 11.2oz / 318 g.

Q: 3. Can this ballhead be used with Platypod Ultra?

A: will this head work with a manfrotto cx055 tripod?

Q: 4. What is the ball size?

A: The diameter of the ball on the Leofoto LH-40LR Low-Profile Ball Head with Lever Release Clamp is 40mm. The "40" in "LH-40LR" refers to the ball diameter.

Q: 5. I want to use this with a Gitzo 1555 (Traveller). Does the head with lever clamp allow legs to fold up around it? What about with full size lever plate?

A: Yes they will

Q: 6. Is thee BH-30 made in the USA?

A: Yes, the Matthews BH-30 is made in the United States.

Q: 7. Is this ball head ok w/o friction control?

A: Yes, it actually works quite well without friction.

Q: 8. Will a Wiimberley 500PF foot fit/work with this bullhead?

A: Yes the Wimberley AP-500 Quick Release Replacement Foot for Nikon AF-S 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR should fit on the Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head with Compact Lever-Release Clamp.

Q: 9. Whats the difference between BH-30 LR and BH-30 PRO II? Which is newer? thanks

A: The Pro-II has a screw clamp while the other has a lever release. Lever's are faster but the screw clamp is more adjustable especially for non-RRS brand plates.

Q: 10. the BH-30 with lever clamp comes with a RRS B2-LR-II clamp. I already own that clamp. If I buy the BH-30 without a clamp do I need anything else to mount my B2-LR-II to the BH-30?

A: You don't need any other parts no.

[Black] I've been in search for the perfect table top tripod for many years now and I think I've finally found it. There's only so many ways to reinvent the tripod and this unique 3 stage design really caught my eye. It's beyond sturdy, the included ball head is a steal to get bundled with this tripod, and my only con is that it's not the lightest tripod but it doesn't claim to be. Overall, would highly recommend!

[Black] I bought this Switchpod ball head because it is solid
metal and strong!! I have machined a special tightening
adapter so I can tighten the mount the way we did in
the 70's on our older tripods. I really like this head!

[0.75 lb] The Leofoto is a game changer for solo travelers. It is strong enough to hold in position my Hasselblad X2D 100c and my XCD lenses. The infinitely adjustable legs make it easy to level on rock terrain during hikes or fasten and hang from a fence for night photography.
Highly recommended

[Black] This is a good quality ball head. It able to load 15kg or 33 lbs which suggested from the manufacturer website.

I tested on my Canon 24-70 f/2.8L and Canon 70-200 f/2.8L w/o any issue.

I like to use this ball head on my Platypod Ultra Plate, when I don't want to carry too much for scouting.

[Black] The Impact MC-03 Magic Clamp not only is very useful for desks, but also very useful for bed frames! This is going to be my primary use, watching YouTube and movies hands free while I lay down facing up nice and comfortable with my pillow.

This reduces fatigue holding a phone in bed for hours and trying to watch my content sideways and still having to hold the phone. Not anymore!

The gooseneck is made of metal, everything else is plastic.
There are two types of people, the ones that break everything they touch, others who like to add a little finesse handling things.

The ABS plastic is a hard plastic material, so the plastic clamp that attaches to surfaces, I find it sturdy, has a strong bite.

The phone holder being made of plastic, even loading with a heavy iPhone ProMax, it holds the phone fine, there is NO NEED to over tighten the ball mount. That is the ONLY part that requires a little finesse. This in my hands will last a long time.

Yes, it would be nice if the whole unit was made of metal. but it's going to cost more of course.

Pros:
1-Very flexible (and metal) gooseneck, and even mounting in a bed frame which gravity will want to pull the gooseneck down, it stays!

The phone holder can tilt a little, allowing minor adjustments to be exactly parallel to my face mounting it on my bedframe frame and at a perfect height.

2-Clamp has a nice bite.

Cons:
1- Phone mount plastic parts may be a little fragile for some users.

Just be gentle with the phone holder ball mount and you'll be fine. You do NOT need to over tighten.

[0.75 lb] Overall I have been very impressed by this little ball head. It is clearly a copy of the RRS version, but don't expect to get THAT level of quality. However, for the price, the head is smooth, has great friction, looks great, and will accomplish everything you expect from it. I am using it for spotting scopes, binoculars, a Sony A7RIII, as well as for a heavy thing that makes loud noises. Would highly recommend this if you don't have the coin to get the RRS.

[0.75 lb] Great ballhead that performs as well as ball head that I paid 4x the cost. Very pleased. Rock solid with my Nikon Z6-II and 500 PF lens.

[0.75 lb] I bought this ball head with a Leofoto table tripod MT-04. I live the legs but the head is truly exceptional. Much better than the heads in some of my expensive tripods. I am using it with a Leica SL2 and the 24-90 heavy Leica lens. It holds very well. Highly recommended.
