Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with a novoflex magic ball?

A: It should is my guess. BUT. finger access under the mounting plate and ball handle might be an issue. Take it to a big camera store to check if it works. The huge issue with your ball head is- given the weight of the camera, is it good enough to clamp the load firmly?

Q: 2. May I use this clamp on the Cube C1?

A: Yes Arca-Swiss C1 Cube Geared Head with Arca Classic Quick Release is compatible with Really Right Stuff PC-LR Round Panning Clamp with Lever-Release Release

Q: 3. Will this release system work with arca-swiss p0 ball head?

A: I bought this plate along with the Arca-Swiss P0 Ball Head this past week and it works perfectly.

Q: 4. The box includes any screw to fix the clamp to ball head?

A: There are no screws included in the box. The RRS clamp has one 3/8-16 female thread and 2 1/4-20 threads.

Q: 5. With RRS switching to R mount, could the clamp still be able to replace normal clamp on other ballheads?

A: To use legacy clamps such as Really Right Stuff B2-LR-II Lever-Release Clamp (60mm) on an R mount head you would need the RRS Ball Head Rosette Adapter RRS-9000001. At this time B&H does not list it for sale since it is new, but we should list it soon.

Q: 6. Does this accommodate the 38mm Arca-Swiss camera plates?

A: Yes it is compatible with standard Arca Swiss compatible plates.

Q: 7. Is this work on Manfrotto MSQ6PL?

A: Yes, this would work with that plate.

Q: 8. Will this fit my Feisol CB-50D ballhead?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 9. Could this be mounted on a manfrotto style 501pl using 2 1/4” screws?

A: The Really Right Stuff PC-LR Round Panning Clamp with Lever-Release Release can accept either a 3/8"-16 or 1/4"-20 screw so mounting on a Manfrotto style 501PL using 2 1/4” screws will not be possible.

Q: 10. can i use this on the BH30?

A: Yes, the Really Right Stuff PC-LR-40 Compact Panning Clamp features a built-in, patent-pending R-Mount, allowing you to rigidly mount it onto any Really Right Stuff ball head stem including the Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head. Alternatively one can mount the Really Right Stuff TH-DVTL-40 Round Dovetail Plate to the bottom of the Panning Clamp to quickly attach and detach to the existing clamp.

[Aluminum] Typically excellent build from RRS. It provides good clamping force despite the small area. Works perfectly with the BH-40.

[Aluminum] I purchased the Peak Design travel tripod which comes with a very compact ball head. However, the ball head does not pan. The Really Right Stuff PC-LR-40 is perfect for this need. I mounted an Acra plate to the bottom of the panning clamp and now it pops right onto my ball head. The small diameter of the PC-LR-40 is perfect for smaller heads. The PC-LR-40s lever clamp is a little hard to close, but it does make the unit more compact. The degree markings are great for consistent pans and the locking screw is both convenient and compact.

[0.255 lb] I have had an RRS panning clamp for some years, and love its quality an ease of use. I needed something similar but smaller and lighter for my hiking rig, so when I saw this product I jumped on it. I put it on top of my BH-30 ball head as the default clamp. Yes, it is expensive, but the great quality and ease of use are there as you would expect. It is very strong and can easily hold more than anything I will need to put on it. Worth the price!

[Strap] I installed this on my Leica Geovid R 10x42. Works perfectly! Binos still fit in the Leica bag. The fit and finish is flawless and performs as it should.

[0.255 lb] I got the Polymer RRS Cinch Adapter to use with 10x42 Binos. It handles them great. I couldn't decide between the the Polymer or Aluminum but in the end decided to give this a try. It's great. Binos are balanced well in the Adapter and there is no flex whatsoever.

[Aluminum] The elite version of this adapter is worth the price premium over the basic (plastic) version. Stiffer and more solid overall.

[Aluminum] My application for this product is a bit eccentric, but it works perfectly, for me at least. Atop my light weight Feisol CT-3342 tripod with integral leveling base I've placed the tilting base of a RRS MH-01 monopod head (though a less expensive alternative would probably work just as well) and atop that this panning base with clamp. After leveling the tripod platform, leveling the clamp (with camera and lens) requires simply tilting the monopod head until level per the clamp bubble. Pan and tilt functions are individually adjustable with better control than with a ball head. Changing tilt function for a camera (with Arca-Swiss mount) to a telephoto lens with long foot similarly equipped is accomplished quickly by simply rotating the panning section 90 degrees. In addition to better pan and tilt control, the monopod head-panning clamp combo is more compact and lighter than most ball heads of comparable load capacity (which would likely also include a now redundant panning function at its base).

This panning clamp is a quality product, as would be expected from RRS. The clamp lever is a bit stiffer to operate than my other RRS lever lock clamps, but that's not a deal breaker. In spite of the small size of the clamping surface, it grips solidly. The pan locking screw seems dainty but it securely stops the rotating clamp platform; it also cannot fall out when unscrewed.

I'm really pleased with the setup this RRS PC-LR-40 compact panning clamp has made possible. It's replaced a quite heavy large ball head. It may not be for everyone, but I thought I'd mention it in some detail to stimulate some thinking outside of the box.

[Aluminum] I originally had the RRS PC-LR B, but when I sold my DSLRs and switched to mirrorless, it felt like overkill. I sold it, and bought the PC-LR-40 which is half the weight and works perfectly with my mirrorless system. Pans smoothly, locks solidly. Like all RRS gear, it's pricey, but it's made with full attention to precision and detail.
