Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How can customers make informed decisions when buying headphones from B&H ($500 or otherwise) when frequency response plots aren't provided, let alone +/- on the frequency specs?

A: These are the only hard specs provided by AKG. Frequency Bandwidth: 10 Hz to 39.8 kHzSensitivity: 105 dB/VMaximum Input Power: 200 mWImpedance: 62 ? Truly the best determining factor is an actual audition of the product. B&H offers a 30-day return policy if these headphones are not suitable for any reason at all. AKG does offer a thorough review: a href= http://bit.ly/1yR2NyS target= _blank http://bit.ly/1yR2NyS/a

Q: 2. Does the RTA mic come with a case?

A: Yes

Q: 3. Will the supplied S-Hook work as a stand on the larger 3.5 x 6" G7 card?

A: If you can get it to stand up and support it, yes, but it would be very easy to fall over.

Q: 4. Can a dj-style mixer be connected directly to these monitors? Do they need an amplifier or DSP in between? I was thinking about using these for my small home sound system. I have a turntable and a CD player connected to a mixer, which currently feeds into an enormous old Pioneer Digital Signal Processor unit (that gets pretty hot), and I have big old passive event-sized speakers connected to the DSP. I would like to replace the giant speakers with something smaller that will sound good for the space, and I'd *like* to eliminate the DSP unit if possible. But I can't tell from the product info here or on the manufacturer's website if I'm thinking about this correctly or not.

A: These speakers can be connected directly to the outputs of a dj mixer via the two TRS 1/4'' jacks, or the rca inputs on the back. These can also be connected to a DSP units outputs in the same way. Please note, these speakers are already powered by a built in amp, and can not take a connection from a speaker amplifier.

Q: 5. Please advise if the Genelec 8020.LSE ESPRESSO Active 5.1 Monitoring System has a 220V power supply?

A: Our units ship as 120 VAC units only and cannot be externally switched.

Q: 6. what are the exterior dimensions?

A: The exterior dimensions of each speaker are: 6.9 x 10.2 x 9.3 inches, or 17.5 x 25.9 x 23.6 cm .

Q: 7. I've read some reviews on Amazon that Whibal cards aren't made the way they used to. Are they still made of solid plastic where the neutral grey color goes all the way through? Thanks

A: The WhiBal G7 White Balance Reference Gray Card is plastic and physically rugged--waterproof and scratchproof (color goes all the way through, not just a coating on top).

Q: 8. What are the dimensions of the unit? I only saw the dimensions of the shipping box.

A: The dimensions of the Mackie CR8S-XBT Creative Reference Series 8" Multimedia Subwoofer with Bluetooth and Volume Controller would be as follows 12.6"w x 14.0"h x 16.2"d).

Q: 9. Is there a pocket for cables: power & XLR?

A: The Genelec 8010-424 Soft Carrying Bag for Select Genelec Monitors has a front pocket, which could be used for cables depending on their size.

Q: 10. Is this an 18% gray?

A: According to Michael Tapes the designer, he states that it is an 18% gray.

[>-110 dB] Provides all the connections needed for most setups. I love the remote for the volume controls, it makes it very easy to adjust the settings on the fly. The bass is deep and punchy, perfectly added the extra punch I wanted with my Studio monitors. The only con is the sub does not have auto on/off for power. I fixed this by adding an inline power switch at the surge protector at the Powerstrip plugin so I don't have to go behind it to shut it off.

[LCD] I sold my Barefoot Footprint 01 for this sub and a pair of 8330A and 7350A sub and I couldn't be happier! Let me explain why I made this decision.
In the recent months, Sonarworks' SoundID Reference has gotten increasingly unreliable on my M1 Max Mac to the point of constantly having to troubleshoot it. On top of that, the Barefoots have shown some issues producing accurate low end in my small-ish mixing space and I knew that having an independent sub will help a great deal with low-end precision.

Another big deal is GLM, Genelec's own speaker calibration and management system that costs pretty much the same as SoundID BUT is natively integrated in the speakers, gets free updates, allows for MIDI yard stream deck control, and pretty much means that you'll NEVER need a monitor controller again - unless you're planning to get another pair of speakers that aren't part of Genelec's SAM series.

This added value and piece of mind, Genelec's sustainability approach, the 8330s having lower overall distortion than the Footprints, and my low-end now extending all the way to 21 Hz at -1 dB (almost an extra octave compared to the Footprints) all mean that this is pretty much as good as it gets for a sub $4k set of speakers.

the 7350 does an awesome job at extending the 8330A's low-end without making itself known and the automatic phase alignment, variable bass mgmt frequency, GLM, and 7+LFE channel bass management I/O are unmatched at this price.

The ultimate cherry on top is that all the integrated technologies mean that the eventual upgrade to a Dolby Atmos system just means getting more speakers... no extra subs, monitor controllers, etc. My wallet sure appreciates the GLM ecosystem

[>-110 dB] This subwoofer is an easy, powerful addition to the 4 monitors I already had. The control puck does a good job adjusting volume levels for the woofer and the speakers separately. Connecting bluetooth was super easy to do and worked just like bluetooth should. I have zero complaints.

[>-110 dB] This subwoofer is fantastic! This isn't a house-shaking subwoofer like your inner teenager may be hoping for, but that's not it's purpose. The purpose of this sub is to provide those nice deep low tones. If you want something that'll shake your core, look for a home theater sub.

This sub provides excellent low tones and just enough shake to not be obnoxious, but enough that if you're editing music or video, you have good reference of the lows.

It's pretty big too! I was pretty surprised. I didn't look at the dimensions before purchasing, but having the CX-5 monitors, I expected it to be something like 8x8 or 10x10 in size. It's pretty massive for a computer monitor sub. I'm not complaining about this though. It's really nice and the construction of it seems really good too.

[>-110 dB] I ordered this to go with my new mackie flex and it couldn't be a better match. Relatively light weight yet enough boom to nearly shake the windows I couldn't ask for a more perfect sub for home use. Been a fan of mackies since experiencing then in the desert in the late 90s and they consistently hit the spot.

[Up to 46 kHz] I purchased this unit to add to 2 pairs of Mackie monitors, the 5" and 8". It was the perfect addition to complete the full range of the music. It came welcome packaged and delivery was as always very timely. Setup was easy and it offered a variety of connection options, love it.

[2.95 lb] The producer grey aluminum Genelecs are gorgeous. It almost seems designed to go with my space grey MacBook Pro and Universal Audio X8p audio interface for Logic/Luna. The compact form factor still sounds as good as it looks and has a big sound for my small bedroom home studio. I also have the tiny 8010s for remote recording projects and playing back from a Roland RD88 keyboard

[LCD] I have it setup with my 8341a monitors and they work great. Really opens up the sound space and fills in dips on the freq of the 8341a. You can calibrate it with cross over at 100hz and using symmetrical eq. Before using this setting I didn't realize how congested it sounded by comparison. Must have sub if you are using genelecs with glm. Without it, you are missing a ton of sound, and really you will hear it wimpy without it if you try to go back without a sub.

[Black] Yes, Genelec are pricey and yet, it's difficult to compare them to any other studio monitor.
The clarity and consistency of their reproduction is overwhelming.
I notice now details in songs I heard for many years, that I never noticed before.
Highly recommended.

[Up to 46 kHz] Yes, it was and additional considerable investment.
But this subwoofer with my 8330a work in total harmony.
Whether you use the digital or analog inputs they both sound fantastic.
Highly recommended.
