The National Optical 205-RLED Cordless Microscopefrom National Optical 205-RLED Cordless Microscopeis a three-objective cordless microscope with a 45° inclined monocular, and a 10x eyepiece with an 18 mm wide field of view. The three objectives are 4x, 10x, and 40xR, and feature achromatic lenses which reduce color distortions introduced by imperfections of optical elements. Reducing these color distortions allows you to see sharper images with better color fidelity. The retractable 40xR objective has a spring-loaded lens which will retract when it touches the slide thereby protecting the lens and the slide. The parfocalled and parcentered design allows for switching objectives without having to realign your sample and without losing focus. The microscope also features a fine and coarse focusing and a platform stage with two spring-loaded coupled slide clips.

To see details of your specimens more easily, the microscope has an LED illumination system with adjustable brightness. The light intensity it delivers is equivalent to that of a 20W incandescent bulb. The white light from the bottom LED emitter is collimated by a 0.65 NA Abbe condenser. Located underneath the stage is a disc diaphragm with apertures of different sizes. It allows you to change the width of the illumination beam which helps you tune the image contrast when using different magnifying powers.

Included with the microscope are three rechargeable AA NiMH batteries, a wall power adapter, a dustcover, and two Allen wrenches for rack stop and eyepiece socket tension adjustment. To recharge your microscope's batteries, just connect the microscope to the wall power adapter.

Q: 10. Want to buy the Celestron Digital Microscope, but advertised shipping cost starts at US 12.26 to Australia, but when in cart, shipping price is much higher. What is the cheapest shipping cost as I can not afford high prices? Thanks, Jan Osinga.

A: You may calculate your actual shipping options/order totals by adding the items you want to a shopping cart. It will then list the shipping options, descriptions, ETA's and fees to your location. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to reduce the international shipping fees you see listed on our website for any product. We understand that sometimes we may not be the most prudent choice to shop with in regards to shipping a single small item overseas. The rates posted on our site are the rates posed to us by the respective carriers we use. You may wish to wait until you have a larger order to place so that the shipping cost would be absorbed, or try to get a few colleagues to place a single order together so that the shipping costs would then be absorbed.

[10x] Infiniview LCD Digital Microscope was present for my grandson. It was a winner. He loves looking at the clear acrylic bug specimens I got for him. The scope is a very nice introduction to the microscopic world. The LCD screen has a very nice picture. I am having as much fun with it as he is!!

[Aluminum] This is an excellent field microscope. It's easy to use, the images are clear and the unit seems to be built very well. At this point I can find nothing to list on the downside; only time will tell.

[10x] Somebody had a question whether this works with a Mac. It does. Simple to set up. Optics seem decent. I think one of these would satisfy a kids curiousity. I'm going to use it to look at styli for wear.

[Aluminum] The digital camera and viewer are second to none. It is better than what is available to me in my science department. As to its limits, I can dimly make out fuzzy bacterial cells on a professionally prepared bacterial microscope slide - as one would expect for 400x without phase contrast or an oil immersion lense. The image quality for eukaryotic cells is crystal clear and outstanding. The batteries fit in the battery compartment just fine and the electric plug also works just fine. The light on the tetraview cannot penetrate a leaf but I have worked with professional scopes whose lighting is powerful enough to penetrate a leaf without further sectioning to make it thinner. Overall, it seems to be a very good product that is professional grade in most of its components and optics. The digital components are outstanding. The light is sufficient, but I think some professional scopes have a more powerful light. Some of the parts, such as the little metal arm that holds a slide in place, seem a little bit more flimsy than a professional scope. I would still rate this scope very highly and it certainly exceeded my expectations.

[4x, 10x, 40x] Item was shipped fast and promptly. The microscopes works as advertised. You will need to buy blank slides. The lcd screen works much better than standard eye pieces. It is very lightweight and does not take up much space in your home. Don't believe all the negative reviews about this scope. You can see all kinds of living organisms in one drop of pond water. The attached images are some kind of egg sack. (Not sure what it is) that I found in a drop of pond water. Photos were taken from the Pentaview. You can also record video. Comes with a 4 GB SD memory card.
