The National Optical 210-RLED Cordless Microscopefrom National Optical 210-RLED Cordless Microscopeis a three-objective single viewing microscope with a 45° inclined monocular. The three objectives are 4x, 10x, and 40xR, and feature achromatic lenses which reduce color distortions introduced by imperfections in optical elements. Reducing these color distortions allows you to see sharper images with better color fidelity. The retractable 40xR objective has a spring-loaded lens which will retract when it touches the slide thereby protecting the lens and the slide. The parfocalled and parcentered design allows for switching objectives without having to realign your sample and without losing focus. Both the turret and the included objectives adhere to the DIN microscope objective standard. This means that you can use any DIN objective with your microscope worrying about it ever becoming obsolete. The focusing system performs fine and coarse adjustments. The turret has four holes and can accommodate a fourth objective.

To see details of your specimens more easily, the microscope has an LED illumination system with adjustable brightness. The light intensity it delivers is equivalent to that of a 20W incandescent bulb. The white light from the bottom LED emitter is focused on the sample with a 0.65 NA Abbe condenser. The iris diaphragm located underneath the stage allows you to tune the contrast of your images while using different magnifying powers.

The microscope also features a 5.3 x 5.3" platform with an adjustable height and has two clips which hold your slides securely in place. The frame of the microscope is made of cast metal with gray enamel finish.

Included with the microscope are three rechargeable AA NiMH batteries, a wall adapter, a dustcover, and two Allen wrenches for rack stop and eyepiece socket tension adjustment. To recharge your microscope's batteries, just connect the microscope to the wall power adapter.

[Metal] The digital camera and viewer are second to none. It is better than what is available to me in my science department. As to its limits, I can dimly make out fuzzy bacterial cells on a professionally prepared bacterial microscope slide - as one would expect for 400x without phase contrast or an oil immersion lense. The image quality for eukaryotic cells is crystal clear and outstanding. The batteries fit in the battery compartment just fine and the electric plug also works just fine. The light on the tetraview cannot penetrate a leaf but I have worked with professional scopes whose lighting is powerful enough to penetrate a leaf without further sectioning to make it thinner. Overall, it seems to be a very good product that is professional grade in most of its components and optics. The digital components are outstanding. The light is sufficient, but I think some professional scopes have a more powerful light. Some of the parts, such as the little metal arm that holds a slide in place, seem a little bit more flimsy than a professional scope. I would still rate this scope very highly and it certainly exceeded my expectations.

[Battery] I bought LCD microscope for my school-age children. Son and daughter studied all the collections of insects and minerals in one week. Their eyes are burning interest in new discoveries. Microscope worth the money. B&H guys many thanks!

[40x, 100x, 400x] This is an excellent field microscope. It's easy to use, the images are clear and the unit seems to be built very well. At this point I can find nothing to list on the downside; only time will tell.

[Battery] Somebody had a question whether this works with a Mac. It does. Simple to set up. Optics seem decent. I think one of these would satisfy a kids curiousity. I'm going to use it to look at styli for wear.

[4x, 10x, 40x] Infiniview LCD Digital Microscope was present for my grandson. It was a winner. He loves looking at the clear acrylic bug specimens I got for him. The scope is a very nice introduction to the microscopic world. The LCD screen has a very nice picture. I am having as much fun with it as he is!!
