  • Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the tripod legs be splayed out for low to the ground shooting?

A: The tripod legs on the SmallRig AP-10 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Ball Head can't be spread out for low to the ground shooting. The tripod has a minimum working height of 21.3" / 54 cm.

Q: 2. What is the total weight of the tripod and the ball head?

A: Mine weighed in at 3.01 lbs. The description is misleading as it implies that the system only weighs 2.2 lbs. Even the legs alone weighed 2.4 lbs. The ball head weighed about 0.6 lbs.

Q: 3. Can someone at B&H physically weigh this tripod in response to the multiple weights mentioned in the Q&A?

A: The weight of the Sirui A1205 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Y-11 Ball Head is 2.82 lbs, according to the Sirui website.

Q: 4. What kind of material the ball-head is made from?

A: Unfortunately, the specifications of the National Geographic Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod with Ball Head do not list what material the ball head is made of. It is made of metal, in my opinion it is aluminum.

Q: 5. Would the Leofoto PG-2S Compact Mini Folding Gimbal Head work with this tripod??

A: Yes, the Heipi W28 3-in-1 Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod with Ball Head can support the Leofoto PG-2S Compact Mini Folding Gimbal Head.

Q: 6. I just bought this tripod. I am trying to replace the rubber feet with metal spike. I haven't been able to remove rubber feet. Any tips or tricks? It seems like they are glued or something.

A: These feet are removable. They should not be glued or the like. Twist and pull counter-clockwise to get them off.

Q: 7. Aside from the included center column, is there an optional short column available?

A: Yes, the Benro CSC0 Carbon Fiber Short Center Column for 0 Series Tripods (BECSC0) is compatible with the Benro TSL08CN00 Slim Carbon-Fiber Tripod with Ball Head.

Q: 8. Can the center column be removed and the head attached directly to the apex of the legs? This tripod has a 2-section center column. Can the top section of the center column be removed and the head attached to the bottom section of the center column?

A: Unfortunately not. This is not a systematic tripod and will not allow for the head to mount directly to the legs.

Q: 9. can a gimble head be attached to this tripod?

A: Yes a gimbal head can be attached to this tripod.

Q: 10. Will this support the weight of my canon rebel with a sigma 150-600 lens?

A: The National Geographic Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod with Ball Head will be able to support the weight of the Canon Rebel DSLR camera with a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Canon EF, but we recommend a sturdier tripod (preferably with a gimbal head) for your set up.

[Yes] I needed a low profile ball head to handle a Sony FS7 on a Cinetics Axis Motion Control System and this one has proven very reliable.

[Yes] This seems to be a very good copy of RRS small bullhead. I use it on on Gitzo 0 series tripod as well as Sunwayfoto own table tripod also a RRS clone. It is a perfect setup for some occasions.

[1.255 lb] A sturdy, lightweight tripod that's tall enough for astrophotography and can be configured to get the camera down low, too. Easily converts to a monopod that's long enough to keep me from straining my back. Nice case, too.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I was surprised to read that this little ball head can take 10 pounds of gear.  Its really strong.  Im using it with my Nikon D500 with the
200-500 lens on a Manfrotto monopod.
Yes I would buy it again.

[Yes] I am using this ball head on a monopod with a micro 4/3 camera. I wanted the ability to take vertical photos. A ball head isn't usually the best choice for this (I would use a "L" bracket if I could find one that would work with my camera) but this unit has a bit of drag built into it that enables it to work well for this purpose. Combined with a very low profile, the ability to fit in a Pelican 1520 attached to the monopod, ARCA compatibility and a VERY IMPRESSIVE build quality for me it was the perfect product. This ball head is sold at a very low price point and it even includes with a small pouch for storage. While small it does lock securely and I would trust it with my D610 with a 70-300. (If it goes on back order again, be patient, B&H will ship it when it becomes available.)

[Yes] I wanted a compact ballhead to use with a Platypod Ultra and this meets my needs completely. Unless you use an L bracket portrait orientation would be an issue but as I have L brackets on both of my OMD EM-1s I don’t have that problem. I like the spring loaded mechanism that enables the repositioning of the ball release/lock lever to what best suits you.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] Nice ball head, especially at the price. Can do more than the cheapest Really Right Stuff ball head for much less money. Only fault I could force is that the clamp is not removable. I would recommend it to a friend.

[Ball Head] I have an A7Rv with some chunky lenses. This tripod handles everything like a champ! I have absolutely no hesitation loading this down with gear.

The Good:
Height!!! This thing goes WAY higher than I need. It's truly laughable; but is still solid.

The Meh:
The ball head works. The is slight sag when you're locking down the angle. But it's no worse (and likely better) than any other tripod with sag issues. I guess if you want to avoid clamping sag, you'll need to spring for a high-end ball head. But the tripod itself is a very decent performer.

The Conclusion:
I think I got this on sale for close to $100 (Maybe $110??). It seems like is constantly on sale.
Around $100, this is a no-brainer. At the listed price of $139, there are a few others that I would consider (3 Legged Things, SmallRig, Benro). I like this Neewer much better than the similar K&F.

It's a good studio-style tripod that's good for anything except long distance hiking. I'm loving it so far.
