Designed for file sharing in small business, remote work, education, research, and creative content, the OWC Jupiter Mini 80TB 5-Bay NAS Server 16TBfrom OWC Jupiter Mini 80TB 5-Bay NAS Server 16TBis a secure and centralized desktop-sized NAS. Built with a 16TB Toshiba MG08ACA 7200 rpm Enterprise hard drive in each of its five SATA III 3.5" drive bays, the Jupiter Mini features a capacity of 80TB as well as a 2.2 GHz Intel Xeon D-1518 4-Core processor and 32GB of 2666 MHz ECC Registered RAM. Connect to your network using the two 10 Gigabit Ethernet or two Gigabit Ethernet ports, while additional compatible peripherals may be connected using a VGA port or two USB-A 2.0 ports. Also available are two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports for a keyboard/mouse or an OS update, plus a Gigabit Ethernet IPMI port for remote management. For storage expansion via an optional 12 Gb/s SAS PCIe HBA, there is a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot.

To help futureproof your business, the Jupiter Mini uses an Enterprise-grade file system called ZFS RAID, which collects data on your hard drive status, records snapshots, and has built-in parity protection. Even in the case of a drive failure, ZFS keeps your file data available and, upon replacement of the failed drive, the system will repopulate the data that was on the original failed drive keeping your data available and your operation running smoothly. The Jupiter Mini comes preconfigured as RAID Z1 and may be reconfigured as RAID Z0, Z1, Z2, Z3, and ZFS Mirror. It runs using the TrueNAS OS and is compatible with Windows, Mac, Chrome, and Linux.

The Jupiter Mini's two 10GbE and two 1GbE Ethernet ports enable ultra-fast access to files across your team. You can connect users directly to the Mini's Ethernet ports, add a switch for supporting larger workgroups, or a wireless access point to enable wireless access.

It also includes networking features usually exclusive to Enterprise environments. The Ethernet ports can use subnets to act as virtual fences that separate different parts of your network (each subnet can have its own security measures). Or you can opt to combine the speeds of the ports on the Jupiter Mini with port bonding, providing a single high-bandwidth connection.

Subnetting improves network efficiency. Each subnet operates as an independent network with its own range of addresses, allowing more efficient routing and enhancing security by limiting broadcast traffic and controlling access between subnets.

Imagine a highway with multiple lanes merged into one. Similarly, bonding network ports combines their bandwidth into a single virtual port. This aggregated connection increases the overall network capacity and enables faster data transfer rates.

Your time is better spent running your business, not troubleshooting your shared storage. Luckily, OWC built the Jupiter Mini to operate with minimal oversight that doesn't require a 20-year IT background. After a quick initial setup, the Jupiter Mini operates in the background with no babysitting by you.

The Jupiter Mini is pre-loaded with TrueNAS, an open-source NAS OS that automatically protects and mirrors your data. TrueNAS is open source, meaning that it constantly receives security patches, feature updates, and has been refined to be as easy-to-use as possible. The TrueNAS dashboard can be accessed from any user's macOS, Windows, Linux, UNIX, iOS, and Android device.

The Jupiter Mini allows your teams in-office and remote to access your files from anywhere in the world. The Jupiter Mini is prepared for remote sharing with when combined with services such as OpenVPN, ZeroTier, or port-forwarding on your corporate firewall.

Backup and transfer files to your Dropbox, Google Cloud, Microsoft OneDrive, and other cloud services with built-in cloud sync on the Jupiter Mini.

Storing files amongst scattered, standalone hard drives risks data becoming lost, corrupted, and wastes valuable time searching. OWC takes the integrity of your data seriously. The Jupiter Mini utilizes an Enterprise-grade file system called ZFS RAID. ZFS RAID is a modern file system that goes beyond typical storage redundancy. ZFS routinely collects data on your hard drive status, records snapshots, and has built-in parity protection. Even in the case of a drive failure, ZFS keeps your file data available. Upon replacement of the failed drive, the system will repopulate the data that was on the original failed drive keeping your data available and your operation running smoothly.

Despite being packed with Enterprise-grade hardware and software, the Jupiter Mini operates quietly in a compact design that fits on any Desktop work environment.

OWC understands having confidence in gear reliability is paramount to professionals. That's why every Jupiter Mini solution goes through an intensive performance certification prior to shipping. This ensures your Jupiter Mini arrives operating properly and immediately ready for demanding use. Better yet, there's no need to contact multiple suppliers if you have questions or run into issues. The Jupiter Mini's components and hardware are fully warrantied through OWC that can be extended for up to 5 years.

[80 TB] High-speed, scalable storage server. Synology RS3618xs is a reliable network attached storage solution with ideal performance for midsize businesses and supports virtualization systems

[Yes] Set up as a 4TB available RAID 1 and it has excellent data transfer speeds as well as data security. As always, B&H pricing was tops!

[1x Fan] For all our storage needs - this is the solution! Not only is it reliable, it's one-stop shopping for our NAS and IP camera needs. Cloud storage is the new kid on the block - but this is the O.G when you want your data and videos in-house. I highly recommend it or its other siblings of different capacities.

[Yes] There's one main reason I chose this instead of the newer and updated models and it all comes down to the hard drive compatibility of the 2021-2022 models that have been rolling out. This rackstation lacks the dual power supply I really wanted but I decided I can live without it since I have all of my files backing up to an RS2818RP+ living in the same rack and then another server off site. Models with Xeon processors can go up to 1 petabyte volumes unlike the lower tier processors that are limited to about 107TB which I didn't consider when I picked up the RS2818RP+. I did not have the budget to rebuy Synology branded hard drives since they are nearly 50-100% higher in cost and not really proven to be any more reliable yet considering limited data on their track record so it made the most sense to get something compatible with Seagate and Samsung so I can create volumes and save a ton of cash to put into other areas that make more sense for a small photography team. Currently loaded with five 4TB Samsung SSD's I see speeds of over 800mb/s read and write for 45 megapixel images and I imagine I'm only limited by the 10 gbe network I have. Formatted with BTRFS and RAID F1.

[32 GB ECC DDR4] I'm an electrical engineer and work from home and this fit my need s perfectly. I have two networks, one secure network for business and the other for home. This NAS has 4 NICs (2x 10Gbe) and (2x2.5Gbe) which would allow me to manage the NAS for 4 independent networks. I configured it with (5) 4 TB drives configured for RAID 5 and I opted to install two 512 GB Samsung 970 Pro NVMe M.2 512 GB SSDs configured to operate as a cache for the RAID system.
