Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I want to connect a laptop to an Anchor AN-130. A direct patch gives me hiss. Connecting two laptops to a switcher and then onto the amp can degrade the signal to uselessness. Will this help with this problem?

A: Yes, the 318 will provide a balanced mic level output so if you use the mic level input on the Anchor it should help eliminate any noise caused by impedance mismatch. You may need to use the ground lift switch on the 318 if there's a hum. It may also be helpful to turn down the treble control on the Anchor speaker slightly.

Q: 2. Will this work to connect a Deity V.Lav mic to the XLR input on a Zoom H6?

A: Yes it wll.

Q: 3. I need to connect a Rode Go ll to a mixer board. What do I need cables or adapters

A: You can use a standard cable with 3.5mm TRS male and XLR male connectors such as the Kopul Stereo Right-Angle 1/8" Male Mini-Jack to XLR Male Cable - 1.5' (B&H # KORSMXM015) to connect the Rode Wireless GO II Receiver to the input on a mixer. Another option is to use an XLR adapter with the 3.5mm TRS cable that is included with the Wireless GO II System. For the XLR adapter, you can use the Rode VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter (B&H # ROVXLR).

Q: 4. Would this work for a Sennheiser mic k6/me66 to Sony PCM M10 and give balanced output to both L&R ?

A: Im afraid this will not work at all for what you want to do. As its the other way round. The 3.5mm is the input and the XLR is the mic level output. This would be used in a live situation for example where you may have a device that has a 3.5mm output which you plug in the Switchcraft 318 input. Now you can plug the XLR output of the Switchcraft 318 into a snake or stage box to go into the house mixer at mic level.

Q: 5. Does B&H sell a locking make 3.5trs to non-locking 3.5trs short cable, as this will be ideal for connecting this adapter to my preferred mic and maximizing connection integrity, at least on the adapter side. Thank you.

A: No. A locking 3.5mm male TRS to a "non-locking" 3.5mm female TRS would be as special order, made to order from a specialty shop, such as Whirlwind. B&H could order for you$$.....

Q: 6. Can I use a Sanken COS-11D with a Zoom FX3 using this adapter?

A: Yes, a Sanken COS-11D Lavalier Microphone that has a 3.5mm TRS connector can be used with the Zoom F3 Portable Field Recorder when connected with an adapter like the RODE VXLR Pro Transformer-Balanced 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom-Power Converter or the RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (B&H # ROVXLRP). You will need to turn on phantom power on F3 to power the mic.

Q: 7. Will it work with my Rode Rodelink filmmaker kit and my Zoom H6?

A: Yes it. will.

Q: 8. Will this work with a Deity V.Lav mic plugged in to the XLR socket on a Zoom H6?

A: Yes, the VXLR Pro adapter will work with the Deity V.Lav. Deity recommends their D-XLR 3.5mm to XLR Adapter with Phantom to Plug-In Power Conversion (B&H # DXLR) which provides the same type of conversions for the connector and voltage.

Q: 9. Will the Lav mic came with the "Sennheiser G3" work with the "Rode VXLR PRO" when connecting to a mixer-recorder such as the MixPre ? Does it accept the screw lock from the "G3's lav" TRS connector? Thank you for the answers.

A: Yes, the Rode VXLR PRO adapter can be used with a Sennheiser lavalier microphone to enable connection to an XLR mic input on a mixer/recorder such as a Sound Devices MixPre model. The VXLR PRO has a threaded female 3.5mm TRS connector on one side to attach the mic and a male XLR connector on the other end allows the mic to be plugged into an XLR input. Additionally, the adapter converts 48V phantom power into plug-in power so you can safely provide power to the mic.

Q: 10. Am I correct, when assuming that one could use a y-splitter and 2 of these to “symmetrize” the Sound Devices Mixpre 3/6 unbalanced trs outputs?

A: No, the VXLR Pro is not intended for use with a line level audio signal. It is intended for use with a microphone that has a 3.5mm TRS connector that requires plug-in power and enables connection to an XLR mic input that supplies phantom power and it will convert phantom power to plug-in power. It would certainly help to have more information about what type of device or input you will be connecting the line output from the MixPre-3 or 6 to. Since you are sending line level audio from a single 3.5mm TRS output and want to split it to two balanced XLR male connections, it sounds like what you need is a direct box like the Kopul SDI-PPC Stereo Multimedia Passive Direct Box (B&H # KOSDIPPC). This direct box has a stereo 3.5mm input and will allow you to split the output from the MixPre-3 or 6 to left and right balanced XLR outputs. [Black] I was having problems with my DMX lighting in the school auditorium and the wireless set up was not working properly. I decided to hardwire the catwalk lights with a cable from the light booth. The cable arrived very promptly and works wonderfully. Thanks!

[Yes] I chose Accu-cable due to the construction. The cable itself is pretty beefy. The connectors looked like Neutrik (My favorites). However, upon receiving the product, the connectors are not Neutrik, BUT appear to be similarly well constructed.
