Featuring a K47-style, center-terminated capsule and UK-made OEP/Carnhill transformer with a high-grade nickel-iron core, the TF11 FET is sonically bold with a punchy transient response, high SPL handling, and very low self-noise.

The TF11's extended low-frequency response, strong midranges, and smooth top end benefit voices, drums, electric guitars, and pianos, and its true cardioid polar pattern is ideal for recording in project studios, commercial facilities, or live onstage. Included is an M 703 elastic shockmount, M 782 hard mount, mic sleeve, and MC11 mic case.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this microphone works with Sony pxw-fs5m2

A: Yes. This microphone will let you record stereo audio into the camera.

Q: 2. what is the size 12 or 18???

A: 12

Q: 3. Is the Sony ECM-MS2 microphone compatible with the Sony HXR-NX100?

A: Yes the Sony ECM-MS2 microphone is compatible with the Sony HXR-NX100 camcorder.

Q: 4. Is there a super cardioid or a hyper cardioid capsule available for this mic?

A: No -the included dual-capsule design is not inter-changeable.

Q: 5. what is the main difference between ECM-MS2 and ECM-VG1?

A: The ECM-MS2 has Stereo (M-S) and Mono capabilities, and the ECM-VG is Mono only. The ECM-MS2 is much shorter in length ( 5.5"), making it more suitable for placing on a smaller camera and the ECM-VG is over 8" in length. Both of these microphones require phantom power (40-52 V DC).

Q: 6. I recently purchased the SONY PXW-X70 PROFESSIONAL XDCAM CAMCORDER. It comes with an XLR handle with microphone holder, but no mic. Is this the right one to pair with it? Are there other (better) options? I want to outfit the camera right. Thanks.

A: I purchased this microphone over a year ago for my PD150; and I've been very happy with it's performance and ease of use.

Q: 7. What could I use for wind protection for this? Something like a rycote is preferred.

A: If being used on stereo bar for a Spaced Pair or ORTF setup, you could use two of the Rycote Baby Ball Gag's and their additional windjammers, B&H # RYBBG20 and BH #RYBBGWJ. If looking to do an XY inside of a blimp, the closest option we offer is the Rycote Stereo Cyclone Kit 1,B&H # RYCXYK1. However please note it is sized for a 3'' in length mic and the KSM are 5.75'' and may not fit properly.

Q: 8. Is anyone successfully using this mic along side a USB MIDI controller with GarageBand and the like?

A: That mic should work fine with Garageband while using a USB MIDI controller.

Q: 9. Is this mic compatible with the Sony HXR-NX3/1?

A: Yes it is. The camera will provide the phantom power that the mic requires. You might want to get these o-rings (SAROCS) to keep it in place if you mount it on the camera's mount.

Q: 10. How long are the XLR cables?

A: The ECM-MS2 from Sony features a permanently attached 15 cable.

[Phantom Power] I was a bit worried about ordering this mic since I couldn't really find many reviews of it online, but it's everything I was hoping for and more. This is my 3rd mic for recording and first Large Diaphragm mic, it's hands down the best one I own.

[13.7 x 6 x 3.3"] I couldn't be happier with this product. Telefunken truly hit the mark in delivering something that brings professional grade quality to us laypeople. Yes. $1,000 is still a lot of money for a microphone, especially for me, but this TF-11 was worth it, even if it means top ramen for the next couple of months. Thanks for making this happen Telefunken. B&H you're ok too.

[Gray] Excellent mic, works as advertised, and looks like the mic, on which, God said, Fiat Lux!

[Phantom Power] In terms of noise, distortion, sensitivity, coloration and (as far as I could tell, polar pattern) there's nothing to fault. It's a very good LDC mic.

Such high fidelity reveals everything in the recording environment too. I would have to spend a fortune on acoustic treatment and sacrifice other uses for my room before I could tolerate the sounds it produces here.

Analogy: an ultra hi-res camera reveals all the things impairing the focus and contrast in your photos: defocus and motion blur, lens deficiencies, etc.

[Side Address] I already have two mics: AKG C 214 and C 2000. This new one gives me a new color to my small collection, transparent sound, almost no noise, great natural sounding timbre... for sure, the right choice avoiding similar sound among my mics.

[3.005 lb] I picked this Mic up for use in a home based performance practice room. This room is setup with Behringer EPA900 PA sound system and a TC-Helico VoiceLive3 along with several Fender guitar amps. This is my first condenser mic and I am well pleased with the sound and quality of this Mic. As mentioned, very high quality build and comes in a very nice travel carrying case and the mic itself housed in a custom wooden box that fits inside the travel case. This mic is what I was after and turning your head to look at your guitar neck does not cut down the sound output level to the degree it does with a dynamic mic. The other thing noticeable the first time you use the mic is you can sing softly and the mic picks up your voice very will where-as with a dynamic mic it would not pick up a very low voice at all. I would certainly recommend this mic to anyone wishing a professional quality sound either in a live performance of used as a studio mic for recording purposes.

[Phantom Power] I bought a pair of these about a year ago to use as piano close mics for a jazz duo album, and Ive been impressed every time Ive used them after that.

Since then, Ive used these whenever I have an instrument which needs just a little more warmth and a little less brilliance (oboes, recorders, piccolos, sax players desiring a dark tone, etc.). Not only that, the WA-47jr has become my voice-over mic of choice. It suits baritone and bass voices extremely well.

Think of this mic as a perfect contrast to the modern ideal female vocal mics- a round, warm tone, but with vastly better-defined highs than even the best ribbons. When someone wants a dark tone, this is it!

The only issues I had with the mic were-
- The default shockmounts are absolutely terrible- the thumbscrew mechanism was barely able to hold the mic in place. I understand why they included them, but the first thing I did was order of a pair of replacement mounts.
- My old Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (1st Gen) had trouble with background noise. Not sure if it was an impedance, phantom power, or other issue, but using a higher-end preamp, these work flawlessly. I guess its just however those two devices are designed doesnt quite play nice.

Hands-down, this is easily my top recommendation for a LDC under $300, especially for male/low voice and acoustic instruments. Multiple polar patterns, highs that dont sound like garbage, good off-axis coloration, and solid noise performance.

[Cardioid] I've used the SM58 for years and decided it was time for an upgrade after doing a show where my vocals just didn't cut through. The clarity of the M80 is far superior to the SM58 and it feels like it is built rock solid. I'm still getting used to the nuances of this mic during live performances, but haven't had any issues with the change. I've read lots of reviews that these are great for recording, etc but I haven't used it for that so I cannot comment.

[Phantom Power] If I had my choice, I would use all DPA vocal mics, but using $1000 vocal mics on eveeryday shows is impractical. I bought one M80 a couple years back to play with , and it is far superior to an SM or B58 in the monitors and at FOH. I am all d&b so I'm working with top shelf products and I notice a big difference in this mic. It's built like a tank. After 35 years, almost every national still requests SM58 , but I have made the M80 my personal use mics, and anyone I put it in front of loves it. The SM58 is so engrained into peoples minds that many hesitate to try something new, but they are always thrilled with the quality after giving in.

[Mono] By far one of the coolest mics on the market. I was skeptical at first. I used it, and instantly become fan. I can use this mic on literally anything! My clients love the glow of the tube in the mic. It creates a great vibe. You also have full twin topology. If you don't like the way it sounds with the tube engaged, switch it over to FET. Still not satisfied, you can blend between the Tube and FET. It also has an auto-pad feature. This feature alone is AWESOME! It helps out with those clients who do not have mic discipline or just bob from side to side, or just get way too into the song. Great sounding mic, with all the bells and whistles you can imagine! Very flexible and versatile! Must have in your microphone arsenal.
