Q: 4. Im trying to record a friends band and the audio from the video cameras is kinda distorted from one camera to the other when editing clips. Can I use this microphone with a usb to lightning adapter for my iPhone 7plus and record the audio or should I use my mac?

A: The Blue Snowball iCE is a great mic but it's mono and ideal for voice-overs or podcasts. I would highly recommend you consider the Zoom IQ7 (B&H# ZOIQ7). It has the ability to connect directly to the lighting port of your iPhone and record high quality stereo audio.

Q: 5. does this cancel out background noise?

A: Microphones typically do not cancel out sound. The microphone cannot determine or distinguish noise from the desired audio. The cardioid pattern of this mic is designed for close use and will generally pick-up sound mainly from the front. Sound that is reflected off walls, ceilings, and floors may still be picked-up. Some unwanted noise or sounds can often be edited out of the final mix as well using DAW software on your computer.

Q: 6. Does this microphone amplify background sounds?

A: The Snowball does not amplify background sound, however when used with the Omni pattern selection will pickup up equally on all sides of the mic covering a wide area. Cardioid pattern will offer the most directional pickup without capturing much surrounding ambience.

[Black] I was flatfooted for so long on deciding what USB mic to get. I upgraded from a Blue Snowball which was getting old. Lots of choices out there nowadays with Rode, Blue, Samson, etc. Senheiser has always made quality products and this is no exception. Out of the box, I plugged it in and it was game on. By the way I plugged it into a MBP M1. I use it for Zoom and Teams calls with customers and colleagues. Everyone has told me the voice quality is great. All the controls are well designed and placed. The only minor glitch is I wished the mic arm was a bit longer but it’s so minor I dont know why I’m mentioning it unless you really need a long arm, you might consider a 3rd party arm, but don’t pass up the mic. 5

[Black] We purchased this piece to mic a guitar amp and we are VERY pleased with the results. Thick, clear sound quality with lots of dbs before any distortion is evident. The price was excellent but honestly I would have paid full retail to get the results. Great microphone! 5

[Straight Stand] I'm using a 4-mic drum recording/monitoring setup and I wanted a dedicated bass drum mic so I could free up the one I was using and at the same time have a mic designed specifically for bass drums. I watched some comparison videos and this one had the sound characteristics that I was looking for. Did a test recording at home and it sounds great. As it stands im very happy with this purchase. 2 things to note: the 3/8 to 5/8 gold adapter that it came with only has (extraction) grooves cut into one side. I removed it then accidentally put it back into the mount reversed and I was unable to remove it until I screwed something into it with loctite, waited 4 hours, then was able to unscrew it from the mount. Not sure if others received a 2-side grooved adapter or if this is just how they do it. Anyway I'll probably cut grooves into it with a dremel. The second thing: I tightened down the pivot screw that attaches the body of the mic to the mount and it still never got that tight. Even with those 2 minor issues I still really like this microphone and I'm glad I bought it. 5

[Black] I bought to of these to run as a stereo pair for guitar amplifiers in a live environment. They are terrific! They handle whatever two 100 watt amps can throw at them and do not color the sound in any sort of negative manner. They definitely let the amps tone shine right through. I went from two classic Sm57s to these and I just notice more clarity and detail than I did with the 57s. Mic placement is a breeze. I spent all of 5 minutes with a pre-recorded loop figuring out the most natural sound and its very easy to find the large sweetspot with these mics. Again, the 57 does not have a huge sweet spot. 5
