[Neoprene] The size and weight make this spotting scope easy to pack and it gives up little to nothing in performance to much larger units. This one will not get left behind. Since the unit is so light, a heavy tripod is not necessary also saving weight in your pack. Bought the anniversary version which came with a cover and even with the cover it only weighs about 2 lbs.

This was half the price of a Swarovski and is very comparable quality in its performance. I’ll always have this in my pack, B&H had the best pricing of anywhere that sells this spotting scope. Can’t go wrong with this spotter if you’re looking for something lightweight, compact, and top tier quality.

[Neoprene] Great light weight scope. Absolutely competes with all the bigger,heavier more expensive spotters. If you are hiking, hunting etc... this is the scope 100%. It is much brighter , clearer and sharper than the size would indicate. If shooting from one spot only and no need for mobility then the bigger scopes do have a slight advantage. This scope clearly shows animals details/rack size points etc... out past 1500 yards easily. At this price point I expected excellence. It has exceeded those expectations. Wonderful optics !!!

[Neoprene] Great price and fast delivery on this Kowa spotter. I was happy to get the anniversary addition since it is in black vs green finish. Optics are stellar and focus mechanisms are very easy to use. My only complaint on this spotter is the armoring. Not at all nice finish, super rough texture that feels like it will hold dirt and is difficult to clean since it grabs microfiber cloth. I'd love to see Kowa move to something rubberized. That being said the weight vs optical quality is really outstanding here A++.

[Neoprene] Great scope. Clear and sharp to the edges. Lightweight and compact. Some say the body feels cheap as it is a polycarbonate body but this is what makes it lightweight. Flourite glass is amazing! Price is right - much cheaper than Zeiss, Leica or Swaro but performance is on par or better. 15-45x 55mm objective is perfect combination....had a 60x Swaro never used 60x unless conditions were perfect as clarity suffered: And, given the weight, quality of glass, price and how often I went above 50x, Kowa is perfect.

[Neoprene] This is the best Spotting scope I have owned! It is replacing one that cost almost double last year. The Kowa is crystal clear to the edge and is great in low light conditions. I went with a straight 30x eye piece and couldn't be happier. I use the spotting scope on back country hunts because it is light weight and an unbelievable piece of glass. I will be adding more Kowa to my list of fine optics.

[Neoprene] High quality optics in a lightweight portable package. I am very impressed with the quality of this product. Construction is first rate and very solid with good ergonomic features. The optics are amazing with no color fringing or distortion. I use the scope with a KOWA TSE-Z9B 20-60x eyepiece, another quality item. I am amazed every time I use this scope at the distances I can see, with such detail! I can spend hours looking through the scope enjoying all the detail that has been hiding in plain sight. You can even get photos using and iPhone held up the eyepiece The image is surrounded by a black circle but the detail is amazing. I would recommend the CNW-10 Kowa Cordura Carrying Case. The case is great and is very fast to open and offers protection from bumps and scrapes. You will also need a solid tripod and head as any vibration is easily seen at the high magnification this scope is capable of.

[Neoprene] I have the sibling, angled version, of the TSN-664M and decided that for certain applications, this straight viewing model was something I needed to have.


It seems at this time the TSN-664M and 663M are being phased out for a new model. I am hopeful this line won't go the way of the Dodo. I think Kowa is a premier spotting scope manufacturer, and this model is a great way to get into a premium spotting scope. My preference is the 30x wide-angle eyepiece. It is super comfortable for long-term viewing especially if you wear glasses.
