Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this lens weather-sealed?

A: The OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4-5.6 II Lens (Micro Four Thirds) is not a weather sealed lens. This 7-14mm version is weather sealed: https://bit.ly/3w8CY2G

Q: 2. Does the HLD-7 include the battery, or is that a separate purchase?

A: That is a separate purchase since a battery does not come with the grip. In my case I opted for several of the third party batteries which included a nice wall charger too and after a couple of years of regular everyday use work quite well.

Q: 3. Will this lens work with the Nikon D3300? Didn't see it on the list.

A: Yes, the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 Series II Lens for Nikon F would be compatible for use on the Nikon D3300 DSLR camera. Do note that the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 Series II Lens for Nikon F is a fully manual lens, and as such, you would have to focus the lens manually and set your exposure manually using the aperture ring built onto the lens.

Q: 4. How do you get it to work? I have one and it won't turn on at all.

A: Hi Lupita, Additionally, make sure you disengage the lock switch on the grip.

Q: 5. Is the HLD-7 Battery Grip rechargeable

A: No.The grip is able to hold one extra battery inside it, but it is not possible to charge the battery in the grip. You would have to use your standard external charger to charge it. The grip does have an optional AC adapter to power it for studio type applications, but the AC power adapter will not charge the battery.

Q: 6. Will a Sigma lens with OM Mount work ?

A: If the lens mounts on OM bodies (OM 1-2-3-4 and 2 SP) the OM mount will work.As noted in the specs you loose auto focus. I have many original OM lenses anda 90MM non Olympus (Tamron?) with an OM mount. They work on my 620 and Micro fourthirds bodies. Great advantages are faster lenses and 2X magnification (f1.8 80mm becomesa 160mm.) There are online test reports for the various original OM lenses on digital bodieswith adaptors. If you shot in the old days, focusing is not a difficult skill. You can readexposure over/under on digital bodies and set it using internal meter.

Q: 7. Does the camera use one battery and then switch to the other? in other words can i take an unattended 6 hours live composite exposure?

A: If you go to the Custom menu and select K utility;select battery priority, then select pbh battery. This will use the battery in the power battery holder first, it will automatically switch to the body battery next. Should get what you are looking for

Q: 8. Is there a tripod socket on the bottom, and if so, is the socket aligned with the lens axis, or is it still off-axis?

A: The HLD-7 Battery Grip does have a tripod socket on the bottom, which is aligned under the lens.

Q: 9. I have many old Olympus lenses, would this make those lenses work on my OM-1 Mark ii?

A: The Vello Olympus OM Lens to Micro Four Thirds-Mount Camera Lens Adapter with Macro will work on the OM1 Mark II. It does accept Olympus lenses from the old OM film cameras. They are screw on lenses.

Q: 10. Does this lens accept ND filters?

A: Yes, the AstrHori 10mm f/8 II Lens (Sony E, Black) has a filter thread of 62mm.

[0.575 lb] I was hesitant at first getting my OM-D, because I had some high quality lenses already, but this did the trick. The depth-of-field conversion from stacking these lenses on is pretty cool, too. Just make sure you're aware of the effect.

[Autofocus] I have a 1970's Olympus zuiko f1.4, 50mm lens I wanted to use on my OM-D E-M1 digital camera. The FotodioX Pro adapter is a fully professional grade adaptor. The body and lens mounts are beautifully machined. The fit to both body and lens is precise. Not too tight, and no looseness at all.

[52 mm (Front)] This lets me use my vintage Zuiko lenses on my OM-D. Works great.

[0.1x] This product adapts OM manual focus lenses to micro four thirds(m43) bodies. Must use an auto exposure setting as there are no electronics in/on adapter. The machining, fit, and finish of this product apear to be top notch. Fit to lens and camera are snug but not to tight, with no play on either side. I am using mine on an OM-D EM-5, and I am excited to say once the camera is configured for manual focusing it is very satisfying to use. The Olympus's 5-axis stabilization combined with the high resolution electronic view finder truly make using the fine old Olympus glass a pleasure. Seems to be at its best with normal to telephoto lenses. In short it's a must for me. I love it.

[f/4 to 5.6] I recently purchased this lens as the price has gone down a bit since its first launch, so I decided to try this together with my OM System OM-5. I do have the Olympus 12-40 f/2.8 Pro lens so I was debating with myself if I should get this lens or not, as the reach is just a little more (90mm 35mm equivalent). Once the price dropped, I couldn't help myself from getting it! -I'm very happy I did though as the f/1.2 aperture gets that extra bit of light and has a much better Bokeh effect than the 12-40mm f/2.8 pro lens. Taking photos of my girls was easy even when moving around a lot and even stopped down to f/1.2 the eye focus is fast and sharp. at f/2 this lens is very sharp but f/1.2 its still plenty sharp. Another thing to be aware of is that it is almost exactly the same size as the 12-40mm f/2.8 OM System lens. So I have a storage case that you can easily have several lenses all the same size
and depth, another reason why I love the OM System (Olympus) lenses. The build quality is really impressive and the clutch focus ring feels good in the hand. Keep in mind this is much larger that the 45mm f/1.8. I tried both lenses in the Olympus store in Taipei (which is awesome) and the bokeh is truly at another level in this lens and the reason why I purchased it.

[f/4 to 5.6] I'm a recent convert from Canon full frame mirrorless. This 45mm lens creates bokeh similar to the RF 85mm 1.2 DS lens, but you aren't losing 1.3 stops of light gathering. The lens is definitely tack sharp, but has extremely smooth falloff. It's pleasantly tiny compared to fill frame equivalent lenses, and is also pleasantly less expensive. I'm very pleased with this lens!

[52 mm (Front)] The adapter has a great fit and finish. This adapter gives me the ability to reuse my old OM1 lenses. I am looking forward to using this adapter with my telephoto at airshows.

[4 x 3.8 x 3.6"] Its a good price for an adapter that I was not intending to use very often. BUT, it turned out that the use of my old OM lenses with a m4/3 body is very exciting and I am using it more then anticipated.
