Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the D&S warranty on this tripod?

A: The will come with a Limited 10-Year Warranty form Davis & Sanford.

Q: 2. Is Maximum Height: 65" with or without centre-column extension? It is not clear from the description or the pictures.

A: The 65" (165.1 cm) maximum height of the Davis & Sanford TR654C-36 Traverse Carbon Fiber Grounder Tripod would be with the center column extended/raised.

Q: 3. Can I switch the head and put one for video use?

A: YOu can remove the head and switch to another head, or just purchase our video equivelant of this tripod:a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1351217-REG/davis_sanford_tr653c_v9_traverse_carbon_with_v9.html target= _blank https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1351217-REG/davis_sanford_tr653c_v9_traverse_carbon_with_v9.html/a

Q: 4. Can you insert the center column upside down with the camera below?

A: This tripod comes with a separate short center column for low profile shooting.

Q: 5. Can the legs lock in a narrow position? like I would put this behind a desk where the legs cant be spread out all the way

A: Im not optimistic that you would be able to do so. The minimum locking angle of the legs is about 30 degrees. A bit of trigonometry would allow you to calculate the spread of the tripod with legs extended. Not the answer you necessarily were seeking but hope it helps.

Q: 6. How tall for the tripod without center column?

A: We measured the Davis and Sanford TR654C-36 to be 55 3/8" tall without the center column.

Q: 7. can I turn the center leg horizontally like vanguard tripods?

A: No. You cannot

Q: 8. does the tripod have a hook at the bottom of the center column for holding extra weight?

A: Yes it does.

Q: 9. Where is this tripod made?

A: The country of origin for this tripod would be the country of China

Q: 10. would this tripod be a good first tripod or would the TR553-228 be a better choice?

A: There are general rules that are good to use when picking out a tripod.1.Maximum height: A tripod should be at least as tall as you.2.Maximum Load: The camera, lens, flash and any other accessories combined should be considered. And the general rule is that a tripod should hold around double.3.Tripods heads: Depending on the type of photography being shot some heads are better than others. There are video heads, Pan/tilt heads and Ball heads. The tripods you listed are both ball heads and those are good in general for most photography but video. They are both good beginner tripods but do have differences.TR645C-36 has a load capacity of 12 lbs verse the TR-553-228 has 10 lbs.And the TR6546-36 has a maximum height of 65 and the TR-553-228 is a somewhat shorter and at a maximum of 53 So I would out of these two pick the one that comes closes to your height or taller and that can support what you will be putting on it.

[Twist Lock] y first Tripod. I love it so far. Easy to use and lightweight. Carbon Fiber for this price is insane. Cannot comment on its longevity since I only owned it for 2 months. The build quality do feel solid.

[Carbon Fiber] I received my tripod in time for snow and ice in NJ. The tripod functioned flawlessly, even soaked with freezing cold water...(much better than I did). The ball head is much different than I'm use to but locks everything up tightly. I'm using a Canon 5DRs with several lenses in both portrait & landscape mode. One of the few products I haven't found anything to complain about yet.I had to wait for it but I think it was time well spent.I ordered it directly from D&S because I needed it for a trip, which it didn't come for.. :((sorry B&H... I cheated on you..)

[Carbon Fiber] I was a little skeptical at first. I wanted to keep the size and weight to a minimum without giving up quality and this tripod has proven to be an effective tool in the field after testing. It allows for a trinity lens system, one Sony camera, tripod, plus accessories in a small backpack (see photo), all coming in under 12 lb. (a little over 5 kilos). The tripod can be extended to nearly 60, but I use that level only to stabilize my 70-180 lens. The three foot level and below gives you maximum self-stability, which works fine for me. I can put a 10 lb. ballast bag under with 3-5 pounds of camera on top with confidence. Kudos to K&F, I think the overall design was pretty well thought out. Thanks B&H!

[Carbon Fiber] I purchased this tripod because I am sucker for a good deal on a great tripod. It was on sale for $80.00. This is designated as a travel tripod because it folds up to a small size. However, with the legs fully extended it is six feet tall. And, it come with a carrying case.

[3 Positions] Light, good quality, collapses to a pretty small size, and extends to a very tall size. Keep in mind that it is pretty wobbly when it's fully extended, but it shouldn't be an issue if you're shooting with a remote trigger.

[4] Great tripod for the cost. It is much lighter weight than metal frame tripods. The functionality is good and is easy to adjust. The fold up size is very convenient for storage and/or travel.
