The Gra-Vue XIO 9040XC-4AUD-3U SDI Cross Converterfrom Gra-Vue XIO 9040XC-4AUD-3U SDI Cross Converteris an cross converter for broadcast applications that installs in the XIO series rackmount frames. It features and SDI input with loop out and two mirrored SDI outputs for the converted signal. It also features four channels (two stereo pairs) of balanced audio output. These channels are de-embedded from the SDI input, and are using selectable via DIP switches on the board.

Note: This version is configured for the 3RU frame. There is another model available if you use the 3RU frame.

A: The test pattern generator is available in the converter and supplies over 100 test signals. There are HD back s, smtpe bars, gray scale, grid and a huge variety of other useful signals. The same gnal is available on either hd-sdi out or HDMI out or both.. The test out is very valuable.Overall this is one of the most valuable adaptors I have ever used . I have three of them, and I use them almost every day. A great purchase and I highly recommend any product from this manufacturer.. I am on a project right now where I am using 2 MX cross and 1 DMON-4S. Excellent.products, totally reliable.. I will buy more.

A: That is correct, the DECIMATOR MD-Cross V2 Miniature HDMI/SDI Cross Converter does not scale to a 1920 x 1200 resolution. A: Yes -- just tested it with 720p from my laptop, converting to 1080i on an HD monitor. This uses the scaler function.

Q: 9. Can this take 3 sdi inputs and put hdmi 1 as multiview and hdmi 2-4 as crossover?

A: The Decimator MD-Cross V2 only has one 3G-SDI and one HDMI input. For outputs, the MD-Cross V2 has one HDMI, and three 3G-SDI outputs with one of the three being an Active-loop through.

Q: 10. will it do 1600 by 1200 25p HD-SDI?

A: I'm afraid this does not support 1600x1200 at 25p. It does support 720p at 50/60 along with 1080p at 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60.

Great little tool that can save the show in this transitional SDI/HDMI world. Lots of capability, but you need to pay attention to the settings on the output, as some things are not intuitive. MOST counter-intuitive things are that SDI 1 default setting is LOOP, not SOURCE, and that the default is NOT scaling the output, though that is what would seem to be going on from the display. FUN moving test patterns could be used for '70s band background. Download the updates online & the onscreen menus will make more sense if you plug into a computer with the USB cable the first time you use it. Wish they still had the red/orange power supply like the earlier versions - made it easier to keep everything together. 5

I bought this little box to solve a down-conversion problem on a recent shoot. I figured it would be handy to have in any number of situations but i had no idea how many. For the price of a single converter, you get HDMI to SDI, SDI to HDMI, format conversion on one side or the other, dozens of test signals, dozens of formats, safe area graticules and text overlays. You can do a simple conversion in one direction and any function in the second direction, or you can use the whole box to convert and/or overlay from a single source (SDI or HDMI), and it has two (identical) SDI outputs. For example, you could convert an HDMI camera signal to SDI to send it to a switcher and also overlay a safe area graticule back to an HDMI camera monitor. It takes a little planning because you have to route signals inside the converter in the correct order, but it is really powerful. I received no compensation from Decimator for this review. I just like the new tool in my digital kit. 5

Was tasked with getting various HD signals from a TV truck to the court side monitors for college basketball broadcasts. Initially had a budget throw down HD-DA's, but the cable length could be over 300 feet and the signal was intermittently dropping out. Installed the SC2030 and watched the signal clean up. Apparently, it is a reclocker, although not advertised as one. I have to deal with 720p59.94, 1080i59.94 and 1080p59.94 broadcasts. This UDC easily accepted these signals and I have set the Dips to 1080i59.94 to feed the Time Out Coordinator's monitors. The Eye Pattern of the signals is excellent with very little jitter detected. Normally, I would have purchased Decimater UDC's, but they are back ordered. I took a chance, since this is just monitor feeds and I am thrilled. I will buy more, if I need to feed monitors. They accept SDI and HDMI and output 2 x SDI and 1 HDMI. It's a budget swiss army knife converter. Good to have in your kit...because you never know when you'll have a flaky signal to clean up! 5

The DIP switches and reference chart make this unit a breeze to use at a competitive price point when compared to similar scaling converters manufactured by competitors. Although every unit at varying price points have their advantages, if you're in the need for a device with these capabilities, give it a shot--it may save you some money and perform great! It also includes helpful mounting hardware for anyone installing this in a rack. 5

At the Bristol Village retirement community in southern Ohio, we have an auditorium with a group of volunteers providing A/V services. We currently use AVMATRIX SC2030 converters to feed a Blackmagic ATEM TV Studio HD. Trying to control the wiring mess was a challenge. In order to organize wiring, we created a mounting board.
