Q: 1. I have the Mvh500ah head with its Long plate. If i buy the Mvh502HD, I know the plates are different, but can they fit tightly on the other? In other words, are the 2 different plates interchangeable and a solid fit for the other head?

A: The answer is kind of . The 500PLONG plate used on the MVH500AH head has an extra lip on one of the long edges because that plate snaps into the top of the head and is held down by a latch. It will however also work if you use that plate as a sliding plate on the 502 head. Even though its shorter, the width is the same and lip now serves no purpose with that head. The plate from the 502 head on the other hand does not have that lip, so is not a secure plate to use with the 500 heads. So if you want to use both heads but one plate, choose the plate from the 500 head.

Q: 2. Will this fit on a 3 Legged Thing Alan 2.0? Also, do I need any more hardware to attach a DSLR to it?

A: Our understanding is the lock is solid and does not drift. This video head uses a 500PLONG Quick Release Plate that accommodates 3/8 thread camera lock down screws. The plate is 4.72 inches long. We are unable to measure the slot hole but guesstimate it to be approximately 3.5 long.

A: The useable pocket space is about 5 3/8 (zipper down to pocket bottom) x 8 3/4 (across inner side seams) - the pocket itself being bit larger. My tripod fits well into the bag but does not allow much give to the pocket depth. Hope this helps. Pleased with quality of the bag.
