A: I haven't tried this but I imagine you can take the mixed signal output from one unit and run it to one of the channels of a second mixer. You could still adjust the 4 channels of the first mixer but the levels would be limited by the level of the mixed signal output of that first mixer. That make sense?

A: There is a button in the back that will let you change line/mic.

Q: 5. Has anyone received one of these with the black button for phantom / line / mic not there? Mine has a hole where you insert a pointy object to press to engage. Is this a QC issue or did shure remove to insure it’s not pressed by accident? Thx for your time in advance.

A: This unit has recessed switches for line/mic level and also for phantom power on/off. Perhaps the rubber covers for those switches are missing on your mixer.

A: Garageband does include a noise gate setting. There are various tutorials available online that can help you find where the control is within the app and activate it, based on your current version. In addition, the Shure VP83 does also feature a low-cut filter to help eliminate unwanted background noise and room ambience. You can turn this on/off using the lower of the two switches on the back of the device.

A: The Shure VP88 can be used with a portable recorder such as the D-100 when set to stereo mode and using the internal battery power. To connect to the 3.5mm input on the recorder would require the included Y cable and additional adapter cable. There would be no disadvantage, however the PCM-D100 is designed primarily for use with the internal mics, and a mic such as the Shure would benefit from a unit with XLR inputs and higher quality preamps.

Q: 10. Will this work with four Shure CVB-B/O Boundary Condenser Microphones?

A: The CVB/O operating voltage is 11V - 52V of phantom power. The SCM268 will give you 12V of phantom power so this will work with 4 - CVB/O microphones.
