[60 W] Works very well, makes it so I can record my laptop on the go without a performance hit. Eventually I may use on a camera, but for my needs currently, works well.

[75 Ω] This unit has just the right amount of features at a great price. Love having both HDMI (2) and SDI (4) inputs. Love having the built in screen plus outputs for multi, pgrm, and aux! Having one down and one up stream key plus the extra logo/bug key creates flexibility. Two audio inputs plus the one main output make it easy to integrate equipment or with other audio systems; would have preferred XLR connections, but good 1/8 TRS adapters work just fine. Unit can stream by USB-C tethering or RJ45 direct to host. The unit easily mixed inputs of differing resolutions, and broadcasting or recording at 1080p60 is more than adequate. If you don't need 4K, this is a great piece of gear to have. The only con I found was when streaming by USB-C tethering, you cannot record to the CF on the unit. You have to record on the device you are tethered to. Very happy with this purchase.

[110 to 240 VDC] I LOVE the screen. It's fantastic and it makes me wish I had one this good for watching college football. It is super clear, great color, very bright. The touch interface works very well and is super intuitive. I'm pretty sure anyone who has used a phone from this century could find exactly what they need. Histogram is nice, audio meters are nice, simple battery meter. There is only one SD card slot so that may be a problem for some, also the card capacity is not on the 'home' screen. It is a single swipe away but may annoy some. You will need fast cards to record on. As a non-scientific example I recorded onto SanDisk Extreme (45MB/s) at 1080p 59.94 in ProRes just fine but dropped frames with ProResHQ. I feel a little anxious about having a fan on the back. I'm worried about how it will do if dirt or water gets in; the noise is minimal. So if you're looking for a magic wonder box that can scale, focus assist, make you a latte and generally hold your hand then this probably isn't for you. If you're looking for a inexpensive way to record high bit-rate video then it's hard to beat. I own quite a few BMD products and it is my experience that they keep getting better over time. Firmware updates add features and suddenly my investment has become more valuable. I expect that from this product but I guess only Grant Petty knows for sure. I don't usually like to review products that I've only had for a few days but since there are so few of these in the world I'm hoping to be of some help to those of you considering a purchase. *I have been testing with an FS100

[110 to 240 VDC] Excellent features for the price. I never know how much difference a field monitor would make in our production quality. This unit has false color which aids focussing; wave form and histogram views to aid the lighting set-up up front so less effort is needed in post. Unit comes with a sun shield for outdoor use and has a variety of mounting options. It can be mounted on top of a DSLR with the hot shoe mount or on a stand or tripod. Multiple inputs formats can be used although I only use the HDMI input. I use a separate HDMI selector switch to enable multiple cameras to use the same monitor which facilitates camera matching.

[110 to 240 VDC] We needed to produce a last minute Facebook livestream. Trusting Blackmagic brand from previous experience, we ordered both the ATEM Mini Pro and this 5 Video Assist. Short learning curve, easy setup, and the show went off without a hitch. Both recommend and endorse.

[60 W] This monitor is feature packed for the price. We are using it for an on set production monitor which works very well. It has everything you would want including audio monitoring at the monitor. Focus peaking is very nice and the wave form is handy too. We use the NP-F970 batteries and we yet have to change batteries during a shoot. I was also very pleasantly surprised when the monitor arrived in a very nice metal case. The only negative is the menu navigation is a bit clunky but is alright once you get used to it. Bottom line... You'll have to pay more than twice the money for a monitor with the same features and quality. Highly recommended for low budget and student film programs.

[> 328' (100 m)] I've had this monitor now for 2 weeks, and I've used it on one shoot. The cameras I've used it with are a Nikon D810 and a Blackmagic Pocket Camera. As with the BMPCC and other Blackmagic products, it's already an excellent product, but I expect that it will improve further with firmware updates. And also as with the BMPCC, I don't know of anything else that can compete for quality at the price. So far: * The image quality on the monitor is excellent in terms of sharpness. I bought this primarily to judge focus, and it delivers even without a peaking feature (which I expect is coming). Color is not accurate, but that's true of most other products at this price level. I hope that color improves with software. * Solid build quality. The only monitor of comparable build in this price range that I know is the slightly pricier SmallHD DP4. * The SDI and HDMI inputs. While I wish it had the more robust locking full-sized SDI, there are very few monitors with SDI capability AT ALL at this price level, and the only option I tried had a very poor image. * The built-in ProRes recorder is great. It allows me to get longer record times out of my D810 (it may improve image quality as well, but I hadn't noticed). I already had invested in the appropriate cards for my BMPCC. It also was a life-saver for the BMPCC when I unexpectedly ran out of room on the card I had in the camera-- I just started the recorder just before the card ran out, seamlessly joined the clips into one long clip in my editing software. So I'll look forward to updates that enable additional features (peaking, perhaps more exposure tools) and hope that one also improve color accuracy. But I can already recommend this device wholeheartedly at this price level. Your choice is really probably just about whether or not you need to step up to a unit that can record 4k.
