Enterprise drives? Is that why the speeds are faster on the more expensive model?

A: Hi, the first one you mention has Thunderbolt 1 ports, and is configured as a software RAID.The link to the removable unit, this is a newer product with Thunderbolt 2 ports, utilizes a hardware RAID, and the drives are actually removeable.

Q: 2. warrentee?

A: This comes with a manufacturers limited 3-Year Warranty.

Q: 3. I would like to daisy chain this device with a G-RAID 4TB drive. If I plan to configure in RAID 0, what will the setup look like? Will it be one big speed drive or two separate RAID 0 drives?

A: Daisy chaining allows you to connect multiple drives through a single port on your system, but it does not combine the drives. They will each show up as individual devices still.

Q: 4. what is the data transfer speed of this drive?

A: Hi Lucas, that version of the G-RAID would have speeds up to 250MB/s.

Q: 5. Can you daisy chain two of these drives and configure in a RAID 5?

A: Hi Caitlin, the version you are looking at there is configured with a soft RAID, and is designed for RAID 1 or 0.You used to be able to configure the RAID in Apple Disk Utility, but the feature was removed in El Capitan. Even if you were to connect to a machine running Yosemite, you still would not be able to reconfigure two units daisy chained as a RAID 5.With a 3rd party software it maybe possible, but by now price wise you would be better going with the sensible solution, and buying a 4 bay unit.https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1048664-REG/g_technology_0g03298_g_speed_studio_r_thunderbolt.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1048664-REG/g_technology_0g03298_g_speed_studio_r_thunderbolt.html/aThe G-SPEED Studio uses a hardware RAID, making it more stable, and is designed for RAID 0,1,5 and 10.

Q: 6. Does this need to be plugged into a computer at all times? I want to use it with my laptop and still be able to take my laptop wherever I want.

A: I am traveling for work as we speak, and brought my GRAID and my MacBook Pro with me. Very portable.

Q: 7. There is no description of the size of the space inside the case. There are clearly notches for two small drives as shown in the pictures but im trying to understand if the larger horizontal slot will fit the 6tb hdd gdrive. What are the dimensions of the inside of the case?

A: The overall interior dimensions of the Turtle SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE SSD Waterproof Case are 7.4 x 4.9 x 3.1". There is not a spec available for the dimensions of the foam indentation, but it is designed to fit drives with dimensions of 5.2 x 3.5 x 1.2".

Q: 8. What is the warranty period for this drive?

A: This will come with a 3-Year Limited Warranty from the manufacturer.

Q: 9. What is the limitation in the hardware that prohibits RAID 1 configurations in Disk Utility on the Mac?

A: The RAID hardware only allows for RAID 0 configuration. You do have the option to Erase the contents of the G-RAID partition in disk utility and reformat the drive to be used as a regular drive without any RAID.

Q: 10. can you reformat from raid 0 to raid 1?

A: This G-RAID can not be configured to RAID 1.

[Black] I don't have a 2-Bay G-RAID drive, but I do have (2)
SanDisk Professional 22TB G-DRIVE's. And both of them fit perfectly! I did put a small piece of bubble wrap between the (2) drive to prevent scratches. Both power supplies and both USB-C cables also fit perfectly. Very study professional waterproof case. Can't think of how it could be better. Very happy with it!

[Black] Needed a case to store several Lacie Rugged hard drives, and this fits the bill very nicely. I love that the foam is antistatic, which is too important for HD's - specifically SSD types.

[Black] The Turtle Waterproof 3.5 HD Case is very well built and has high quality, anti-static, padding. I have complete confidence that my hard disks are safe from damage while being carried from place to place in any kind of weather. Also good for simple storage.

[Black] This case works great. Plenty of cushion and room to solidly store a large amount of hard drives. You can keep the caddies on them if you prefer as well. Cushions fit snugly around drives.

[5.575 lb] I have had this case for a couple years now. As someone who runs a project studio and it's a media junkie, I was looking for storage abd backup options outside of my NAS unit. So I bought a dual slot HDD docking station that connects to my computer via USB and started buying high capacity internal drives.

I wrote the drives in this case, and when I need data off any of the drives, I pull the case out, find the drive I need, and drop it into the docking station.

Worship the wise, the case is identical to all the other hard shell cases I have for other studio gear. It's rugged and the foam inside is cut perfectly for the drives. The foam isalso made of anti static material, so you're drives are safe from static electricity shocks. Well worth the price. As my drive count grows, I'll be grabbing another one of these.

[Black] I ordered this case after many years of neglectful storage of our radio show recording archives. It's exactly what we needed at a fair price.

[Black] This is a really well built case, I remember using other Turtle cases years ago for tapes, and this is just as good for hard disks.

[Black] I got this since I was upgrading hard drives in my NAS and needed a place to store the old hard drives. I can keep them all in one place and have peace of mind around how protected they are. The padding is great and I am able to have my drives with cradles as well. When this thing is fully loaded, it's super heavy though.. I haven't used this to travel/transport drives but am sure it's up for the task.
