Q: 1. Can I use this MIDI hub in a live show? And would each MIDI controller work individually in Ableton Live (using different VSTs on each MIDI controller of course)?

A: Yes, the ESI M4U eX could be used for a live performance. Each MIDI input will be recognized as a separate channel by your DAW.

Q: 2. Does this need to be connected to a powered Clearcom line to work?

A: Yes it must be powered.

Q: 3. Can I use this as a triple midi usb to din converter? I mean, using three usb midi controllers at same time sending to different midi din outs

A: Unfortunately not.

A: No, it can not be used as a passive volume knob for your computer.

Q: 5. Will this work with 2 Wire and 4 Wire Clearcom systems?

Q: 6. Is this compatible with iOS devices like iPad Pro? Provide you use the included power adapter?

A: The M-Audio AIR | Hub Desktop USB Monitoring Interface with Built-In USB Hub does not specify compatibility between its host USB Type-C connection and mobile devices such as the iPad Pro. In theory, the iPad could interface with one of the onboard USB Type-A hub connections on the front of the unit.

Q: 7. I have the 4 pack eartec headsets, that work with master headset and 3 slaves. For the hub interface to clearcom, will I also need to buy the Hub? So will I need both the hub and hub interface?

A: Yes, you will need to use the HUB (B&H # EAHUB) and the HUB interface together. The HUB works in the same manner as the master headset you already have, so it replaces the master headset. The HUB can be used with eight wireless UltraLite remote headsets and one wired headset.

Q: 8. Can this be used to connect a computer(running ProPresenter) to a lighting controller(separate hardware)?

A: Yes, the ESI M4U eX 8-Port USB 3.1 Gen 1 MIDI Interface with USB Hub could be used to connect a lighting controller operating over standard 5-Pin MIDI protocol to a computer running a specific, correlating software.

A: The Eartec Hub systems are not designed to be adapted into the the Whirlwind THS-4 system.

Q: 10. We currently have a wired Clearcom system. We’d like to add some wireless headsets to that existing system. If we purchase this and the Eartec 4 pack headset this should add that functionality?

A: Yes, you can use this HUB Interface for Clearcom with up to 8 of their ULTRAlite headsets, to add wireless stations to your existing Clearcom hard-wired system.

[12 VDC] I am not sure i needed another hub but the one i had was a bit cheap looking and feeling. This is solid, sleek and performs well.

[12 VDC] I bought this for my house and am blown away with its performance. I have very high expectations, but this just took it to another level, in fact I see myself purchasing a 2nd one. I don't like my neighbors so with a 2nd one I should see for sale signs going up soon.

One note for any of you that are installing this in your home, you will run into a problem if your trying to run it out of the back of your AVR, the signal to the sub will not work as it is not strong enough. I had to purchase a small mixer, ran the sub ouput from my AVR to the mixer, and a 1/4" jack from the mixer to the Sub. Dont use a XLR connector is it is a balanced cable and does not work as well as a 1/4" unbalanced as I had to plug it into a RCA jack in my wall which is unbalanced as well.

With the mixer this sub just flat kills it. It is amazing and I highly recommend it. 5 Stars.

[12 VDC] The interface worked great, I have it connected to two Yamaha hs5's using TS cables and it's fantastic. There is noise but it's only when it's out at full volume. The dial is clean and looks great on my desk. Fantastic interface! Definitely interested in looking into new ones my m audio.

[12 VDC] For probably a couple years now I've used this device to control a bunch of home and studio lighting. I have bespoke lighting control software that talks to it over ArtNet, and I use it to control a bunch of pavotubes and nanlite spots and so on. Zero issues.

[12 VDC] This little Midi Box is a welcome addition to my Midi Configuration Studio needs. At first I was reluctant to purchase it because I felt it was a bit expensive for a Midi Interface... but it is worth it. Here's why

Pros
Excellent Build Quality, solid top grade materials and it looks good
Works without the need for driver installation, so easy plug and play
8 Standard 5 Pin Midi Ports Plus 3 USB 3.0 Ports and a USB Host Port which gives me lots of options for all of my gear
Automatic signal detection is great. Allows each MIDI port to work as an input or output
LED Indicator Lights let you know what's going on
In Standalone (without a computer) there are 3 modes with a dedicated Mode Selector, 1 Midi In to 7 Outs, MIDI thru and MIDI merge configurations
You can use it as a Stand Alone or USB Host mode
Ships with USB Cable and 5V Power Supply, yes they include a power supply!

Cons
Price but NOT really this is one well built, powerful Midi Interface that is loaded with Connection and Interface Options. I think it is worth the money for what it offers.

[12 VDC] This thing is a game-changer. I've been doing live sports productions for almost 10 years and never knew about this but it solves a MAJOR problem in that wireless (clear com/telex) headsets are EXPENSIVE! You can get an eartec set and this interface and then use your WIRED clear com and suddenly expand your capabilities heavily. This thing is incredible and I will be ordering more of them to use with other comm systems that we use doing sports productions around our state.
