Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens come with a hard case in the box?

A: Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster S35 20mm T1 Cine Lens (Nikon Z) comes on a hard leather case with internal customized hard foam.

Q: 2. The manufacturer website says the 3 lens kit comes with a hard case, yet I don't see this on the description here. Does it come with a hard case when purchased here?

A: Yes it includes a case.

Q: 3. Does it work with the metering of the gfx?

A: If is a manual aperture lens so you set your ISO, shutter speed and then turn the aperture until the exposure meter needle matches the exposure you want. The aperture size is not controlled by the camera. That is your job.

Q: 4. Is this lens manual focus only? If it has AF will it work with contrast, phase, or both?

A: The Speedmaster 85mm f/1.2 Lens for Sony E is a manual focus lens. Autofocus would not be supported with this lens.

Q: 5. Can filters be attached in front of the lens?

A: Yes, the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm T1.0 Cine Lens (Sony E, V2) has a 77mm front filter thread.

Q: 6. IS doesn't work with GFX 50S II. Any Idea how to enable it?

A: The Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 65mm f/1.4 Lens for Fujifilm G is a manual lens with no contacts to communicate with the GFX 50S II camera. So the camera does not know that a lens is attached. You need to go to the the set-up menu and choose BUTTON/DIAL SETTING. Here you will find the SHOOT WITHOUT LENS option. This will allow the camera to operate with manual lenses.

Q: 7. Is it possible to buy these cine lenses with focusing distances marked in meters rather than feet?

A: At this time we only offer these lenses with distances measurements in feet.

Q: 8. Is the focus and aperture ring geared or fly-by-wire?

A: The focus and aperture are mechanical.

Q: 9. This confuses me. Does this mean the 17 is really a 35, the 25 a 50 and the 35 a 70 like other M43 lenses?

A: Yes, that is correct, the Mitakon Zhongyi 17, 25 & 35mm T1 Speedmaster 3-Lens Bundle (MFT) are going to have the 2x crop factor when mounted to a MFT camera.

Q: 10. How sharp is this lens full opened?

A: When you have it wide open (T1-1.4) it will feel more like a vintage lens. It will be ok in terms of sharpness and have low contrast. Around T2 you will notice that it will get more contrast and get sharper. The lens performs its best in regards to sharpness and contrast between T4 and T5.6.

[T1] I did some research and while most of the reviews lauded this lens on the Fujifilm GFX 50S, some said it was hard to focus and the results were too soft at f/1.8, most said it was good.Well, maybe I got a good copy, but this is easy to focus with a quite long throw and the way it paints colors is exceptional. Mine is a little soft at 1.8 but that is perfect for a portrait lens - the bokeh is so creamy, and the depth of field is just what I wanted. I love this lens - beware, it is one beast weight wise, but so good when you dial it in.

[Super35/APS-C] Lens build is solid and works well. Some focus breathing, but everything else is rad

[T1] I bought the first Mitakon RF 35mm and I loved the look with soft, warm, quasi-vintage vibe and delightful bokeh. When the V2 came out with the 20mm and 50mm, I've decided to get them all for a complete set. The breathing is not prominent and the look is truly remarkable. I'd love to see a wider and a longer lens added to the set.

[77 mm] I studied about this lens for quite some time before finally pulling the trigger.

My gut once again proved me right and I definitely made the right decision. I dont pixel peep and I appreciate character and this lens has tons of it.

The manual focus on the Fuji 50R with peak highlights has proven that this lens is sharp. It is the only lens I use on the 50R and pretty much all I need as an enthusiast photographer.

If your looking for a setup that will give you a unique look with sharpness and character then dont second guess it.

[ 0.8 MOD] I bought this lens for my Blackmagic 4K, and I love the quality footage it produces. You can't beat the price for such a fast cine lens! It's well-built, too.

[T1] I read a lot of bad reviews. My experience is that this lens is great!! Yes, the T.1 is soft, but I always use a Tiffen Black Pro-Mist 1 Filter for my films. So, to me, I enjoy that characteristic of a softer look at T.1. I have also seen reviews saying that chromatic aberration is too much. To me, people in post-production that I work with, spend tons of money on plugins to emulate that characteristic alone. So, to have it in lens already is pretty dope. ALso, this lens comes with a awesome hard case!

The manual focus is no problem for me personally. I have honestly never truly used autofocus much at all in my career. The lens is on the heavier side. Personally, I am very active (I work out, play basketball, and golf) so holding this 4Ib lens vs a 2.5Ib lens from Sigma is virtually the same for me.

The focus without a focus puller is very smooth. If you use manual focus already and don't use / own a focus puller, then you won't need one with this lens in my opinion. My hands are small, and I can still focus relatively easily with my hands alone. Now, I did buy this lens new and not used. So that may be why there are bad reviews regarding the focus.

Overall to have a T.1 is unbeatable to me. Yes, the image is softer but that's why we have post-production (color grading in Davinci). This lens has a character that is hard to reproduce in post-production. I look at the cons as a win as a creator!

[Super35/APS-C] I use this with my 50S and I love it. Long throw but gives me precise control of focus. With the AF assist I’m able to nail focus wide open when I slow down. I’m use to shooting film and manual focus lenses so there wasn’t much adjustment for me. It’s perfect for portraits as it i don’t mind being a little softer on the skin anyway.
