The robust Sunwayfoto T3240 Carbon Fiber Tripod XB-44 Ball Headfrom Sunwayfoto T3240 Carbon Fiber Tripod XB-44 Ball Headis a versatile, feature-rich carbon fiber tripod with a load capacity of 55.1 lb and a maximum height of 55". It folds to a compact 20.5" for storage or travel, and weighs only 3.42 lb.

The carbon fiber legs have water-, dust-, and sand-resistant sealed twist-lock joints for reliable use in harsh environments with a minimum of maintenance. Q: 1. Would you recommend this tripod for long-exposure photography using a Nikon D500 with either a 70-200mm Nikkor or a 150-600mm Tamron?

A: Max load is one thing and resistance to vibration and torsion caused by wind and other factors is another. High end tripod manufacturers like Gitzo will tell you that their series 1 traveler tripod is recommended for up to 100mm, max 200mm focal lengths... I think you need something heftier for long exposures in the focal ranges you are mentioning.

Q: 2. What is the weight of the ball head and tripod legs separately?

      A: Legs 28oz/ 1.77 LBS Head 7.2oz total

Q: 3. Differences between the T-025SK and the T-024SK? It seems the T-025SK has a lower working position and the T-024SK has higher. The 025SK can also take 2lbs more weight and folds down lower. Am i missing anything else? Is the t-025sk worth getting over the later?

A: Hi, unless you need the extra 5" in height that the T-024SK has, the T-25SK has a greater load capacity, a much lower minimum working height, and a much shorter folded length, so it depends on how you will be using the tripod.

Q: 4. Can I remove the ballhead to install my Manfrotto gearhead? Is the mounting screw 3/8" and metal?

A: Yes, the ball head included with the GEEKOTO CT32X Gravity 85 Carbon Fiber Tripod can be removed.

Q: 5. Can the center column be removed and the head attached directly to the apex of the legs? This tripod has a 2-section center column. Can the top section of the center column be removed and the head attached to the bottom section of the center column?

A: Unfortunately not. This is not a systematic tripod and will not allow for the head to mount directly to the legs.

Q: 6. Is the a light weight gimbal head that I can use with this tripod? I use a micro four thirds set up.

A: The Benro TSL08CN00 Slim Carbon-Fiber Tripod with Ball Head only supports 8.8 pounds so it would not be recommended for use with a gimbal head.

Q: 7. Is the flip lock metal or plastic?

A: The flip lock is plastic and the hardware surrounding it is metal.

Q: 8. Is the included ball head the same as the Benro IN00 ball head?

A: It has the N00 ball head, which is similar but not exactly the same as the IN00. Works just fine on mine.

      Q: 9. Will this be a good tripod for a Nikon D750 + Tamron 15-30mm G2? Approx 1960g. I do mainly (like 99.99%) vertical shots.

A: Yes and No. Tripod legs will hold fine, but not the head. Get a better tripod head like the K-20 II or K-30 II, and pair it with a L Bracket for vertical shots.

Q: 10. if legs = 28 oz and head = 7.2 oz where is weight of the center column? Does the 28 oz value include center column?

A: The center column is a part of the tripod, so its weight is included in the tripod weight.

[Carbon Fiber] A sturdy, lightweight tripod that's tall enough for astrophotography and can be configured to get the camera down low, too. Easily converts to a monopod that's long enough to keep me from straining my back. Nice case, too.

[3/8"-16 Male] I needed a low profile ball head to handle a Sony FS7 on a Cinetics Axis Motion Control System and this one has proven very reliable.

[5.49 lb] I wanted a compact ballhead to use with a Platypod Ultra and this meets my needs completely. Unless you use an L bracket portrait orientation would be an issue but as I have L brackets on both of my OMD EM-1s I don’t have that problem. I like the spring loaded mechanism that enables the repositioning of the ball release/lock lever to what best suits you.

[5.49 lb] Some very nice things about the Sunway: 1) The panning base doesn't slip, even with my 1Ds2 body and 300/4 lens. That's a pleasant surprise, and my biggest pet peeve about some other high-end heads, i.e. the Markins (I use a Q3 on my smaller tripod). The panning lock knob is larger than any other I've seen, all metal with large teeth to grip, and very smooth in its action. 2) The friction/lock knob also works like a charm. As with the panning knob, it's very large and easy to grip, and very smooth to operate. Most often I'll set the friction knob (on any head) to allow the camera and lens to sit still when untouched, but allow movement when I apply some force. This friction level is easy to set on the Sunway, and another big surprise, when I position the camera, let go, and then fully lock the knob, the ball position doesn't shift. This is a nice improvement from the previous Sunway DB-44 I tested last year, which allowed a long lens to pitch slightly forward. 3) This ballhead was delivered with a basic screw-type clamp, with index marks and an easy to see bubble level, but Sunway also makes a very nice lever clamp (which I've used with their DB-44), and a panning clamp I've read good reviews about. I'll guess one can order the XB-44 in any of those configurations.

[5.49 lb] This is my first carbon fiber tripod and it's working fine so far, I bought it for my trip to Mexico, and so far is working as it should, light, sturdy and good looking.

[Yes] I found this to be just the right size for a Gorillapod tripod and a perfect compliment for micro-4/3rds gear. Add to it ARCA compatibility and a low price and it is a definite winner.

[Carbon Fiber] Perfect

[Carbon Fiber] Light, good quality, collapses to a pretty small size, and extends to a very tall size. Keep in mind that it is pretty wobbly when it's fully extended, but it shouldn't be an issue if you're shooting with a remote trigger.

[Yes] I have an A7Rv with some chunky lenses. This tripod handles everything like a champ! I have absolutely no hesitation loading this down with gear.

The Good:
Height!!! This thing goes WAY higher than I need. It's truly laughable; but is still solid.

The Meh:
The ball head works. The is slight sag when you're locking down the angle. But it's no worse (and likely better) than any other tripod with sag issues. I guess if you want to avoid clamping sag, you'll need to spring for a high-end ball head. But the tripod itself is a very decent performer.

The Conclusion:
I think I got this on sale for close to $100 (Maybe $110??). It seems like is constantly on sale.
Around $100, this is a no-brainer. At the listed price of $139, there are a few others that I would consider (3 Legged Things, SmallRig, Benro). I like this Neewer much better than the similar K&F.

It's a good studio-style tripod that's good for anything except long distance hiking. I'm loving it so far.

[4] This seems to be a very good copy of RRS small bullhead. I use it on on Gitzo 0 series tripod as well as Sunwayfoto own table tripod also a RRS clone. It is a perfect setup for some occasions.
