A: Hi Colin The locking mechanism on these Orca pouches are quite sturdy. The pouch has a protruding cross, that marry with a sunken negative of the same shape on the bag when tilted 90 degrees. In other words, it keys into the bag at 90 degrees and locks by turning it up right. I'm not shure how this pouch or the Petrol pouch would key into a cheese plate unless you mounted the receiving key to it first. A: I have found that my boom pole will sometimes swing around in the socket from the weight of the boom mic. I certainly would not trust this setup to an expensive camera. you might want to try something with mafer clamps for more security. don't forget sandbags!
