Build a versatile, lightweight matte box around the Bright Tangerine Misfit Kick 360 MK II 2-Stage Kitfrom Bright Tangerine. This two-stage core can be mounted using optional clip-on, rod-based, or swing-away adapters. It features one 360° rotating stage and one fixed stage, each of which accepts 4 x 5.65", 5.65 x 5.65", and 5 x 5" filters and filter trays. The core comes ready to support two 4 x 5.65" filters.

You can use the core with a variety of lenses, including cine servo zooms, due to its wide frame of view and compatibility with optional mattes and frame-safe clamp adapters in 80 to 143mm sizes. It is also compatible with optional top and side flags, and it can support an additional rotating stage with an expansion pack.

A: I would make sure to use a clamp on adapter so that your lens and Polar Pro Variable ND does not interfere with the Misfit Atom.

A: This matte box should be fine with a 24mm on a full frame camera such as the a7S II. To adapt this matte box from its 114mm to the 105mm of the lens, you need an adapter. This is the one adapter of those dimensions that we have. We have not tested it but it should work. Vocas 114mm to 105mm Adapter Ring for MB-255 B&H # VOSDR255105.

A: The Bright Tangerine 143mm Black Hole Donut for Viv, Viv 5", Misfit, and Strummer DNA needs a matte box that has a 143mm back. The Tilta MB-T12 Matte Box's largest back is 134mm so no, it will not fit.

[Frame: Aluminum] Hands down the Misfit Kick is the only matte box you will probably ever need. It is super versatile and extremely light in the clamp on version. BT has really nailed it with the One Tray options and the unique reveal feature to turn a 2 stage MB into a 3 stage without any tools and additional items. Well except for the third filter tray. I love this thing. I got it a couple weeks ago and can't wait to take it wherever needed. It's built like a tank. I expect it to last lifetime. Highly recommended. Frame safe adapters, add a swing away arm later on if needed, the flexibility of this system. Highly recommended. Well done BT!! 5

[Frame: Aluminum] It's a small piece that has really taken my workflow from good to great. Removing a clamp on matte box to swap lenses doesn't seem like much but it's a hassle and often times take more hands leaving things vulnerable to drops and damage. This piece has been perfectly designed and works smoothly and quickly. I love this added piece of kit. Only thing I realize is with my Sigma Cine Primes, the 15mm rail clams line up perfectly with the focus ring which is where I need my focus motor to go haha so I have to figure that out, but otherwise it's great! 5

[360°] Using this with my ARRI LMB 4x5. This is a must have tray if you're using diopters and 4x5.65 filters. One recent project was shot on 2x anamorphic lenses and we needed diopters for the closeup shots the director wanted. This worked like a charm as I was using 3 stages of the matte box for ND, diffusion, and diopter when necessary. Worked great for what we needed it for. 5

[360°] Surprised by how light weight it is. Really good build quality and clever tray design. The thumb screws to extend the unit for additional filters gets loose sometimes so just have to tighten it every now and then. 5

[Frame: Aluminum] Bought this to compliment my Leica R 35mm summicron in my Red Scarlet-W. This thing couldn’t be built or designed any better. The rubber “black hole” is a perfect choice if you’re going to be using vintage lenses. Make sure you have some sort of step up ring if your lens has a diameter smaller than 60mm or light will leak. I probably wouldn’t use it with lenses with a diameter larger than 82mm since it’s made of a thin rubber material and it might rip or stretch out too much. Looks miles better than baggy cloth though... The reason I went with the misfit is because I know that if I change lenses or if a client wants to work with other lenses, I can easily buy the other configurations to accommodate whatever I end up using. I know this is more expensive than most matte boxes but it’s worth it since this is the only matte box you will ever need. 5
