Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How long is this cable?

A: Crackling with mini plugs is usually an issue of having Plug-In Power turned on in the recorder. The NT4 mike does not run on Plug-In Power...when you want to connect it with a mini cable you need to power the mike with an internal nine-volt battery. So turn off Plug-In Power on the recorder. You'll get better battery life on your recorder as well! (An alkaline nine volt battery will run the NT4 for about 400 hours according to the Rode site.)

Q: 2. I have recently received a Audio tech AT2020 and plugged it in via USB to my windows 8 computer. I have noticed on a YouTube video it should have a light turn on. There is no light and it is not picking up any audio how ever my computer has recognized its plugged in and believes it to be both a mic and a speaker. any help please?

A: This mic does not feature a USB connection. If you are using a USB audio interface, be sure to check if it is providing phantom power to this microphone.

Q: 3. Some of the original mini cables that came from Rode with their NT4 mikes had 12 dB pads built into the XLR5 connector. Does this cable have such pads in it? Or is it just straight wire from XLR to mini? I'm looking for one that doesn't have the resistive pads.

A: I bought this cable as a back-up for the one provided with my Audio-Technica stereo mic, and it's much less efficient, so I suspect that there is an unseen pad in the XLR, or the cable is simply more resistive. I'm returning it -- the signal into my Marantz digital recorder is too low.

Q: 4. Can I use a lightning to 30 pin adapter for use on an older iPad?

A: The AT2020USBi can be adapted to 30 pin using the Apple Camera Connection Kit which will connect to the included USB output cable.

Q: 5. Does this record soundfiles in mp3? Wav? Or Aiiff?

A: The format the microphone records in depends on which recording/editing software you are using. Say for example, you are using Audacity. When you are finished recording, you can export in a number of formats including but not limited to .mp3 and .wav

Q: 6. Does the spotmeter function show values in RGB255 and as a Y%.

A: At the moment, the spot meter function on the OVIDE Koko 10" HDR Touchscreen Recording Monitor (Gold Mount) only displays values in RGB255.

Q: 7. Do you plug it into your MAC for recording?

A: You are able to connect the Audio Technica 2020USB+ microphone into a Mac or PC in order to record. It will function with most available recording software.

Q: 8. can anyone tell me how to attach the pop filter to this mic stand in a way that the whole thing doesn't tip over AND the filter is in the appropriate place in front of the mic? I can't seem to figure out it. Thanks.

A: Yes, it's a bit of a struggle with lightweight boom stands. What I did was attach the pop filter to the mic stand and then shorten the boom enough to be able to place the pop filter in front (All I needed was to have the mic off the table). If that's not possible, I suggest sandbagging the mic stand so that you can safely extend the boom with the pop filter attached to it.

Q: 9. Does the mixer have a USB out?

A: Yes, it's in the back

Q: 10. Is this a shielded cable?

A: Yes it is shielded.

[Black] They're very flexible and slippery, so they don't tangle. Shielding seems fine and the connectors are sturdy. What more would you want in a cable?
