[IEC 320 C13] So worth the price and lightweight

[6' (1.8 m)] I have use this the Westcott FJ400 system now for several weddings, on location portraits and events. Absolutely a GAME CHANGER! I have been in photography, full time, for over 25 years and in that time, I have used just about every strobe system made. All of them were good BUT fell short in some important ways.

The FJ400 strobe is light and small for a strobe of this power. Using Westcott's Rapid Box and trigger, I am up and running in minutes (i.e., making money in minutes)!

The FJ400 has NO SHORTCOMINGS that I can find. The color and exposure consistency is perfect. I literally turned this strobe and starting making money!

One last word on the company: Westcott. I have never ever had the kind of customer service anywhere. A person actually answers the phone AND answers any questions that I have had!

[EU] Since these are the first strobes I've owned I can't really compare to how others are. My pocket book really isn't at profoto level, and I was hesitant on getting one of the cheaper strobes; I didn't want to buy something that I then would feel I had to replace quickly.

Let's just say I am not disappointed!! I'm still learning to use them and test my limits with them; as well as finding how best to incorporate my style into how I light with them. I have so far used them twice on a paid shoots and found them way easier than setting up my speedlights.

I'm very pleased that I splurged on the location kit as the majority of my shoots are at clients' businesses. While the kit is a bit heavy (to be expected) I can still load and unload out of my jeep by myself, and once on the ground easily wheel inside. I did wish I purchased sandbags when I ordered these (I have since rectified that). I do think the stands aren't the best but will work for me, for awhile at least until I purchase c-stands or something a bit more sturdy feeling. Granted that could hinder the ease of travel so will be something to mull over.

[1.5 lb] Finally a monolight that you could take just about anywhere there is no AC power and a glaring high noon sun on top of you. Battery wise, I did about 120 plus shots and still had all 4 bars left (same with trigger). It didn't come with a manual but it took me only a few minutes to get it up and running.

[6' (1.8 m)] Got this the other day for an outdoor shoot with the 16.5 beauty dish. The COVID pandemic has now forced me to do corporate portraiture outdoors for everyone's safety.


It took me only a few minutes to familiarize myself with the FJ400 and the transmitter since there was no operating manual. While it's my first time to do high speed sync, the ideal aperture range is anywhere from f1.4 to a max of f5.6 and a distance of about 6 feet to the subject.


I'm completely satisfied with this light. I just wish Wescott would come out with a more powerful 600w/s.

[EU] Great product at such a lower price point. It’s easy to spend big dollars and nice that there is a less expensive route before investing thousands more. This setup has a nice case for easy transport and the lighting delivers wonderful results. Easy to setup and get started with minimal experience. I’m excited to see how far I can push this system

[6' (1.8 m)] I was a long time Profoto user and made the switch to these last year. I’m really happy with the quality of light, recycle time, battery life and the versatile trigger. With tons of accessory options this is a great system.

[90 - 250 VAC] The FJ400 definitely exceeded my expectations. Reliable color output and consistency of flash at an excellent price. The fact that is also comes with the plug-in to allow for using in studio while still charging versus competitors that charge for that option makes it an even bigger plus. Can't recommend this enough at this price point.

[50/60 Hz] This strobe lights are very nice and easy to used, they’re perfect for outdoor and indoor photography, the trigger is very nice is rechargeable and fit to different brands. 400 watts of power for outdoor and make photos look amazing, also you can used higher speed sync to shoot up to 8500 speed,
I will recommend them instead the godox I think this is better option. You won’t regret the upgrade to this lights.

[EU] Why spend more money on godox when this light is out. Sure godox has more variety but this light is more easy to use, cheaper than the godox 400w and you have support for it in the UNITED STATES.
