Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this protect the lens?

A: Yes, the Sigma Lens Hood for 24-70mm f/2.8 Art DG DN II Lens protects the lens if you hit it against something. It also shades the lens from flare and ghosting while taking pictures.

Q: 2. Does this have the locking mechanism so the hood doesn't turn?

A: Yes, the Sigma LH878-03 Lens Hood for 24-70mm f/2.8 Art DG DN does lock in place when installed on the lens. The hood features a release button on the side of the hood allowing you to remove it.

Q: 3. Hi the SPECS says that the minimum focus distance is 7.09" / 18 cm. But does this change when the lens is zoomed out to 70mm? If so what is the minimum focus distance at 70mm?

A: Once you zoom to 70mm, minimum focusing distance becomes roughly 1.25ft.

Q: 4. Would this be a good match for the Lumix S9?

A: The Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 DG DN lens is a perfect match for the Lumix S9 if you're looking for an all-around professional lens that works for various photography genres.

Q: 5. Does this fix the autofocus issues of the previous version? Mainly for Lumix users considering this vs. the Panasonic.

A: The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art Lens (Leica L), BH #SI247028LM will auto focus better. The introduction of a linear motor high-response linear actuator (HLA) to drive the autofocus yields focusing speeds more than three times faster than its predecessor. Additions like accelerated autofocus will help the auto focus.

Q: 6. Is this lens weather sealed?

A: Yes, the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art Lens (Leica L) has a rubber seal at the base where it marries to the camera body as well as having dust & splash resistance.

Q: 7. Is the focus motor really quiet? With the Sigma ART line I have had the problem that the sound of the focus motor is noticeable.

A: The reviews we have seen does list the sound of the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art Lens (Sony E) focus motor as very quiet.

Q: 8. Is it compatible with Sony A7 IV?

A: Yes. The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art Lens (Sony E) is fully compatible with the Sony A74 camera.

Q: 9. Does this lens have the linear manual focus control ring setting like the previous version of this lens?

A: Yes, the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art Lens does have linear manual focus.

Q: 10. In panasonic cameras using this lens, is it possible to change to linear focusing? As well as the rotational degree?

A: Unfortunately, the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens for Sony E, B&H # SI247028E, is only compatible for use with Sony E-mount cameras, and is not compatible for use with Panasonic cameras. That being said, while the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens for Leica L, B&H # SI247028L, is compatible for use with Panasonic cameras that use the Leica L-mount, this lens uses a stepping focusing motor, not a linear focusing motor.

[0.15 lb] this my second Sigma Art Lens and the 24-70mm is my favorite focal length . I have had this length in Nikon lens for years, This new version from Sigma has been heavily compared to Sony'S G Master version and found to be equal to the G Master which is twice the price, The Sigma is sharp and extremely well built as is all Sigma lenses. The build and feel of the lens gives me feeling of confidence and compliments the outstanding performance. if you are considering a 24-70mm lens for your Sony check the reviews.

[Bayonet] This lens is fantastic! I had the first version and now the second and I love using it. It’s slightly smaller and lighter than the first, but it’s worth the heft.

[Bayonet] Sigma 24-70 II incredibly sharp, autofocus works super fast, light weight use it with my Sony fx3 perfect combo! Definitely recommend. Half the price of the Sony one.

[0.15 lb] This lens is freakishly sharp.
I run my RAW files through DxO PureRAW 4 (using the DeepPRIME processing module, which does a perfectly fine job and is super fast), and the results are stunning, even compared to the first version of this lens (which I have been using regularly since it was introduced).
Get this lens. I, at least, am very impressed! (And, if you're not using PureRAW, give it a try. Combined with a stellar lens like this, it's a hard to beat combo.)
I've posted a photo of Mt. Rainier and a close up of a small selection of the image, an upper part of the mountain showing the extreme detail even with some detail attenuation due to aerial perspective.

[Bayonet] This is an incredible mid-zoom lens that outputs nearly prime-level quality photos! AF is basically native performance (given that you're not shooting on the a1). Lens flare and chromatic aberration are well controlled. It has a solid metal build while still being relatively compact and lightweight. Highly recommend!

[0.15 lb] Great lense overall. Takes a crisp and nice picture too. The versatility of the 24-70mm is great without the compromise of the quality in pictures. The lens is a little heavy but not too much to where it gets uncomfortable. Picture quality is great with little to no vignetting. Definitely recommend this lens to keep in your arsenal
