Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Am thinking of getting hold of this lens but one question. For example, from your experience, when shooting interiors, how do you minimize glare when you can't put a CPL on the lens? Appreciate you thoughts on this. And thanks in advance.

A: You can use a circular polarizer on the Nikon 19mm PC-E lens. I would recommend this Fotodiox kit: https://bhpho.to/396YnLo

Q: 2. No hood available from Nikon, is one not needed? How bad is glare and reduced contrast when key light is in front/side of camera? Note front glass bulbs out. Nano coating can only do so much, no? Any success in using flags in lieu of a hood? Or is lack of a hood not a concern with this lens?

A: There is a good reason why there are no hoods for very wide lenses; to wit, a hood that actually protects the lens from flare is also visible in the frame. My rule of thumb to make sure no light is flaring or causing ghosts on my lens is this: From moderately wide to tele lens length, I use lens hoods, or matte boxes or adjustable sunshades on the camera to block the spurious light. However, on very wide lenses, the flare has to be flagged at the light source that is causing the problem. Even outside and it is the sun hitting the lens, use a grip flag on a stand to stop the direct light of the sun. Do not have such equipment? Then have a friend hold any rectangular object so the the flare from the sun is blocked. How to know it is working? Make sure the shadow of the flag covers the front element of the lens. Nikkor lenses are among the finest in the world. The lens coatings on this lens are no less than that. You can be sure that for all but the most direct specular light rays, light hitting this lens will be flare and ghost free.

Q: 3. My microphone, Sony ECM-MS2 has a 24mm diameter. Does this windcover which is for 23mm stretch to fit or will it be necessary to get the 25mm version, which will probably be a loose fit?

A: The Cavision SWJ223 should be fine for the Sony ECM-MS2; a tight fit most likely given the 1mm difference. FYI, this is a special order item however, and is non-cancelable and non-returnable.

Q: 4. Is this an autofocus lens?

A: No, the Venus Optics Laowa 19mm f/2.8 Zero-D Lens for FUJIFILM GFX is a manual focus lens only. Aperture control is manual as well.

Q: 5. When not being used in either tilt / shift mode (and settings for both zeroed out ), I assume that this lens can essentially be used as a prime manual-focus rectilinear 19mm F4.0 lens with fantastic optics, correct?

A: Absolutely outstanding results

Q: 6. Are there any limitations in using the lens on the Nikon d850?

A: I asked Nikon technical support the same question. Their reply: there are no horizontal or vertical shift limitations when using the Nikkor 19mm PCE lens on a D850.

Q: 7. when this lens will be available to buy?

A: Unfortunately, we do not have an estimated arrival date for the Nikon PC NIKKOR 19mm f/4E ED Tilt-Shift Lens at this time. If you havent already, you could choose the Request Stock Alert option on the lenss page on our site. We would then send you an email when the lens came into stock. That being said, we are accepting preorders on the lens at this time.

Q: 8. Is it possible to purchase Finger-tightened rod mounting screw from this handgrip separately?

A: The thumbscrew for the Tilta Quick Release Handgrip Bridge is not available separately. Tilta may be able to provide a replacement if you contact them directly.

Q: 9. What are the limitations of the lens using the D750?

A: The limitations with the D750 would be that some combinations of shift and rotation may not be available due to the lens contacting the camera body.

Q: 10. Mounted on the d850, can you use the focusing zebra stripes in live view mode with this lens and if so is it accurate?

A: When in Movie mode on the Nikon D850, one can enable zebra stripes while this lens is in use. The accuracy will not differ as compared to the accuracy when using other lenses.

[Stainless Steel] Stupid pricy but I can't say it's not good. I only needed a cheap and crappy one, but those don't seem to exist.

[2] I liked this 19-15 adaptor. Im steadicam operator and all my brackets are Jerry Hill. sometimes is difficult fit the motor on the lens and when I saw this, I realiza you can change the measure of the rods. I used twice since I bought and it works.

[2] We recently bought these extension rods to add on to our 8 15mm rods, especially after we bought a gold mount battery adapter for our Red Komodo. These 6 extension rods allow us to attach the adapter while still having room for a matte box, a follow focus or whatever else we may need to rig on the rods. Highly recommend this product.

[2] I used to use 15mm carbon fiber and aluminum rods. After you've tried steel or titanium rods, you'll never go back. They're more expensive and probably overkill for the majority of prosumer videographers with small mirrorless cameras, but if you're using a fully decked out Arri or RED cinema camera for film or TV projects, I recommend steel or titanium, and Tilta has a good track record with quality camera accessories.

[Stainless Steel] I'm running a Panasonic AG HMC40 and using the Shape friction follow focus. I recently added a matte box with required a counterweight. I needed these to extend the length of the rods to accommodate both. Shape makes some great products at affordable prices that work in a system of interchangeability that keeps your purchases from becoming redundant.
