Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this a 26 or 30-lb load capacity? because the description says 30 lb, but the specs say 26. Thanks!

A: The load capacity is 0-30.9 lbs / 0-14.0 kg.

Q: 2. Can this Miller Air Fluid Head 1042 be mounted on a Gitzo GT2531LVL Series 2 or a GT2542 Series 2 tripod?

A: Yes you can. The Miller Air Fluid Head 1042 has a removable ball level stud for flat base mounting with 3/8 screw hole. Both Gitzo tripods have a 3/8 screw available.

Q: 3. Is the sliding plate interchangeable with the AirAV model?

A: No, the AirV fluid head (#1044) uses the “Versa” camera plate (#1201) The AIR fluid head (#1042) uses the standard camera plate(#1205) However, you could add a receiver onto the AIR that would allow you to use the AirV Versa plate on the AIR Head. Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adapter with Sliding Mounting Plate (501PL) BH #MA577

Q: 4. Are the levels of drag adequate, or do you find yourself constantly wishing for more drag?

A: Those of us at B&H who have used it, like the overall feel of this head and its operation with a variety of cameras. We have had no complaints regarding any lack of drag.

Q: 5. I will be upgrading from a Benro H8. I know this head is WAY better. My main complaint with the Benro is, the maximum drag is really weak. I want heavy drag that you really have to push on so slow movements are highly controlled. Is the heaviest drag on this head really stiff?

A: Yes not only is the Miller more stiff at its maximum setting it also offers more steps in between the lightest and toughest setting.

Q: 6. Are there any compatible pan handles with clamps included? I'm looking to add an extra pan handle.

A: The correct handle for the Miller CX8 would be Miller Telescopic Pan Handle for ArrowX Heads BH #MI696 • MFR #696 https://bhpho.to/3DcqxEf ( A clamp is included)

Q: 7. Would this work on a Gitzo 75mm bowl on Gitzo series 5 tripod?

A: Yes, it will work.

Q: 8. does the side mount system in these heads work directly with arri style long dove plates? or will I have to screw it onto the head's proprietary plate?

A: Miller has their own proprietary quick release plate system. You will need to add a dovetail if you intend to use this tripod with Arri standard dovetail mounts.

Q: 9. Will the Miler CX6 fit on Sachtler Flowtech MS 75?

A: Yes, Miller CX series 75mm tripod heads, such as the Miller CX6 Fluid Head are compatible with Sachtler Flowtech MS 75 legs.

Q: 10. Is the 75mm bowl proprietary to Miller tripods? Will this head fit any brand of tripod with a 75mm bowl? For example, experience taught me Sachtler bowls are proprietary to the tripods.

A: Yes.

[75 mm Bowl] Use mostly when doing 5D video. Great movement on the head, only thing is a little more weight would make it a little better, probably would be best in the 8-16lb range.

[Aluminum] I use this for documentary filmmaking. The head is completely smooth and well built. The legs are very stable and easy to use.

[3] great tripod and head for light to hefty dslr frankenrigs and very smooth and adjustable pan and tilt drag. pretty good counterbalance.
specially if you get the long slide plate and use a long dove plate on it when using long and heavy lenses with matte boxes, etc.
wish there was hook under the head to stabilize with weight!!

[Twist Lock] This thing is a beast. I can't get over how well it's designed. I have Bogen tripods that are twice the weight and seem flimsy. This thing is light and solid as a rock. The head is smooth as silk. I originally ordered this tripod because of it's ability to set low to the ground (so I could use it with my Indislider), but now I am replacing all my Bogen tripods with this beast. Bogen = a piece of junk compared to this rig. Worth every penny, trust me.

[Aluminum] I bought this a few years back to use with my Panasonic HVX200a. Works like a dream. I do a lot of short form documentary production, and this Miller is perfect. The carbon fiber construction indeed makes the unit very light. I carried it while backpacking around Western Europe for a month, and it was fantastic. Very quick to setup and breakdown. I also like how low to the ground I can get with the concentric leg angle locks. The bag is very high quality as well. All around it is a very rugid product, which is perfect for my documentary productions. Those Australians can sure make a tripod. At this price point, this Miller is your best choice.

[75 mm Bowl] There are many reviews on this tripod, but bottom line: it is excellent! It's reasonably priced and can accommodate a pretty heavy rig. I'm impressed. I love the next to nothing weight as well!

[10 lb] This I'm thing is truly a beast of a fluid head for the price. As a wildlife filmmaker I am generally using huge O'Connor heads with massive lenses. This little rig gives those beasts a run for their money. In a pinch I have used this as a replacement head with a Gemini and a 150-600 lens and it was stable and smooth as could be. It also works great for my timelapse and slider setups. The three stops of resistance was scary at first but I honestly rarely use anything other than the second level of resistance. Absolutely recommend!

[Yes] I use this tripod with my Canon 60D and camera accessories. The head can comfortably deal with a little weight over 10lbs, but not a ton more. Personally, I like the aluminum legs better than the carbon fiber. In a short time, the tripod has been in mud, rain, and it has worked great. Used the Scarlett on it a week ago and the weight was not an issue. Totally smooth pan and tilt. Great locks. Do yourself a favor and get more than one camera plate. This way you won't have to keep swapping it from one camera to another.
