Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Where is the whole system getting power from? Are you able to add v-mount batteries to the bottom of it instead of the counterweights?

A: While users may be able to come up with a way to creatively mount v-mount batteries to the bottom, the Steadicam Steadimate-RS Aero 15 Arm and Aero Vest Kit does not appear to have any mounting points for external batteries, and would be dependant on the Gimbal's own battery for power.

Q: 2. Does the AERO 15 come with all the cables needed to send a feed to the monitor?

A: Product lists coming with a BNC cable for connection between the post and monitor.

Q: 3. What would be the approximate time frame for learning to use this very expensive tool to justify the expenditure?

A: Michael, it depends upon a number of factors including your current camera & Steadicam experience. Steadicam offers a number of workshops to get you up to speed:https://a href= http://tiffen.com/flysteadicam/ target= _blank tiffen.com/flysteadicam//aFor more information, I would suggest that you contact us directly at 800 593-3331 or steadicamsupport@tiffen.com

Q: 4. The part of the vest that the arm attaches to, appears to be on the right side of the vest. Can that part be flipped to the left side of the vest so the arm extends to the left of the vest? Thanks ?

A: Yes, the bridge plate and socket block of the Steadicam Steadimate-RS Aero 15 Arm and Aero Vest Kit can be flipped to operate from the left side.

Q: 5. Is this also compatible with the new DJI RS4 or RS4 Pro?

A: Yes, the Steadicam Steadimate-RS Aero 15 Arm and Aero Vest Kit is compatible with both the DJI RS4 and DJI RS4 PRO Gimbal Stabilizers.

Q: 6. Is there any back pack can fit the system when not using it

A: There was a three bag system available. At this time we suggest this all in one bag. Porta Brace RIG-4SRKOR Wheeled Rig and Camera Case with Interior Kit B&H # PORIG4SRKOR.

Q: 7. Can I use a Canon C300 Markii on this rig?

A: This supports up to 10 lb Payload. Just as long as you keep the build of your C300 Mark II to under 10 pounds, it will work.

Q: 8. I have a JVC 790. My camera weighs 11lbs with the battery mounted. Can I power the camera with the lower battery? Can I balance an 11lb camera on this?

A: It is possible to power the JVC GY-HM790 ProHD ENG / Studio Camera on the Steadicam AERO 15 Stabilizer System with Gold Mount Battery Plate and 7" Monitor using a D-Tap to 4-pin XLR cable that is regulated to the 12v power 4-pin port on the camera. Regarding the balancing, the arm with sled supports up to 10lbs. If the payload exceeds 10lbs, it is recommended to use a stronger arm. The Steadicam AERO 30 Stabilizer System with A-30 Arm & Gold Mount Battery Plate is an example that supports up to 20lb payload on the sled. See the link below: https://bhpho.to/2GKAaNJ

Q: 9. If I use my Sony A7SII, what cable do I need to use to be able to connect through the sled to send the signal to the on board monitor? or if it's included already?

A: You would need a DC powered converter box that converts HDMI to HD/SDI BNC. Operators will usually Velcro a converter box underneath the top stage and power it with the Steadicam D-Tap to 2.1mm DC power cable item # 815-0104. The Aero has 1x BNC video input connector and 1x D-Tap power output on the top stage.

Q: 10. Does it flip to low mode?

A: If it's balanced so that it's top heavy you can fly it upside down and then horizonally flip the image in post production.

[2x D-Tap Output] Use a Panasonic VariCam LT on it and it works great.

[50 lb] I didn't expect this to work as good as I read about in the other reviews, but for the price, I figured it would be a good investment for an entry level investment. I literally tried to find something wrong with the flycam that would keep me from giving it a 5 star rating, but couldn't find anything. After setting it up and trying it out, it worked as advertised. It kept the camera real steady.
The only suggestion I would make, and I hope the company that made the flycam is listening, would also make a tripod head as an accessory so that it can be used back and forth as needed on a tripod with the quick release plate. Even though the flycam quick release plate is compatible with the Manfrotto 501 tripod head, I just don't happen to have a 501 tripod head. That being said, if you have a heavy camera attached to it, your arm will tire out quickly. I overcame that problem by purchasing a flycam vest support and that solved that problem. The flycam appears to be well built and is relatively easy to set up. The many videos on how to set it up on YouTube is a big help also in setting up. For the price, it is well worth it. I recommend it highly.

[Vest System] We were in a toss up for a while whether to get the Zephyr for almost double the cost of this, and so glad we went with the AERO. For what were doing: flying the Alexa Mini with CN-E primes and flying Canon C300s most of the time, its perfect. Our Alexa Mini with 24mm Canon CN-E lens, Anton Bauer Cine 150 battery, Teradek 100, and Nucleus M follow focus is right at 18 pounds and feels great. Its got the same vest as the Steadicam Zephyr, which is nice too. If you want to see some sample footage check our Youtube Channel: Film Jams

[50 lb] I got this to extend my use of my Flycam Redking, and it's done exactly that! After making the adjustments this vest is surprisingly comfortable to wear. I was able to use it for 6 hrs, and kinda didn't want to take it off after the shoot. The tension system on the arms is easy to use and fine tune. Haven't had to swap the springs, but that seems easy enough. Overall this vest is great for stabilizers and makes the process simple, no more cranked wrists! This rig also seems capable of supporting the listed weights with no issue. The heaviest ive gone so far has been 14 lbs 10 oz/ ~6.6 kg , and it worked well with the standard springs. There is no box/bag for the vest, so its a tad annoying until you can find a spot for it. For the price point this rig is an effective tool that might lack some features, but will still perform the job well!

[2] excellent quality vest and arm. It is heavy but very safe to use. I already used the kit with the Flycam 300 camera stabilizer, my blackmagic pocket 4k and my sigma 50-100mm, that is, a kit of about 5 or 6 kilos and it feels smooth and manageable. I am very happy with the purchase

[50 lb] The product works great. Very satisfied with what I paid for it. The two screws make micro adjustments a breeze.

I weight 175 pounds and lift weights to stay in shape. If you get this for long term use do not skimp out on the arm brace. Buy the arm brace. It will fit inside the bag with everything else and let you shoot using the stabilizer much longer. Your wrist will thank you.
