The Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f/1.5 Aspherical Lens Canon RFfrom Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f/1.5 Aspherical Lens Canon RFis a large aperture, manual focus lens for Canon RF-mount cameras. This lens is optimized to cover a full-frame image circle, and it is equipped with electronic contacts, which provide Exif data to the camera body. In-body image stabilization, focus magnification, focus peaking, and focus guide functions are all supported.

The aspherical design provides excellent image performance throughout the entire aperture range, and the fast maximum aperture combined with the 12-blade circular diaphragm provides beautiful bokeh. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens couple with the rangefinder on the Voigtlander Bessa R3A?

A: Yes, this lens is an M-Mount and the Voigtlander Bessa R3A is an M-Mount camera.

Q: 2. What adaptor will I need to make this fit on a LUMIX S1H?

A: You can use the Leica M-Adapter L (Silver), B&H # LEMATS for the S1H. https://bhpho.to/2Tr9yqX

Q: 3. this lens cover the full frame sensor on the sony a7s2?

A: The Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.2 Aspherical Lens is a full frame sensor or film camera lens. It will cover the sensor of a a7S II.

Q: 4. Can a lens like this be adapted to be used on a canon eos 5d M3?

A: Unfortunately, no. Due to the differences in focal flange distance, there are no lens adapters designed to connect a Leica M-mount lens to the Canon EF lens mount which is used on the Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR camera. The focal flange distance of the Leica M-mount is 27.8 mm, which is smaller than the 44 mm focal flange distance of the Canon EF lens mount. A Leica M-mount lens would not fit and would not have the ability to focus to infinity on the Canon EF lens mount.

Q: 5. Sony E vs M mount version: There's two versions and I want to mount to new fujifilm xt4 with adapter. Sony E mount costs more, but I don't know if M mount will perform differently? Please help! I'm new to photography, as of last week.

A: Unfortunately, the Sony E-Mount version of this lens cannot be adapted to the Fujfilm X-T4. That being said, your best bet is to utilize the Leica M mount version with the Metabones Leica M Lens to FUJIFILM X-Mount Camera T Adapter (Black), MEMBLMXBT1. https://bhpho.to/2BMHY17

Q: 6. The Leica mount Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 has red aspherical lettering while none of the others do. Is there a difference?

A: I am fairly certain this is a design element borrowed from some Leica lenses which have some lettering in an orange color.

Q: 7. Will this fit on a Bessa R?

A: No, the Voigtlander Nokton 75mm f/1.5 Aspherical Lens will not fit on the original Voigtlander Bessa R. The Bessa R had the Leica Thread-Mount (LTM) and cannot use Leica M-mount lenses.

Q: 8. Most Leica brand M-mount lenses at best have a minimum focus distance (MFD) of 0.7m. This Nokton's MFD is 0.5m. With a digital M body is the rangefinder coupled to support focusing through the optical viewfinder at focus distances between 0.5m and 0.7m?

A: According to our Voigtlander contact, they state on most Leica M-mount cameras, you will need to use the LCD screen to obtain absolute closest focus. While a few cameras such as the Leica MP may allow you to focus a bit closer due to its redesigned finder, it is still recommended to use the LCD screen for the most accurate focus when focusing at the lens' minimum focus distance.

Q: 9. How is the finder blockage?

A: It brings up the 50mm frame lines and with the hood it will have some blockage and obviously its wider than that. If thats a deal breaker let me tell you my experience. I own the Leica 35mm Lux and the Zeiss 50mm f1.5. 35mm tad wide at times and the 50mm is too tight. Zone focusing is more difficult with the Zeiss the Leica is easy. The Voigtlander is perfect in that regard. 40mm is my perfect length and Ive waited a long time for a quality lens and its here. Its more like a cinema lens as far as focal length. Its sharpness and color rendering cannot be beat by any lens in its class and $800 pfffft no brainer. I paid $5k for the summilux. If you shoot digital scrap the frame lines and use peaking. Dont get me wrong the Zeiss and Leica are excellent for other reasons. Buy the Voigtlander.

Q: 10. Does it produce color shift on digital M?

A: There is no apparent color shift when used on the digital M.

[Full-Frame] This is one amazing portrait lens for Leica M. At high aperture the background blurs out beautifully. It's very sharp once you stop down a little bit.

[Full-Frame] I have been shooting since about six months ago with this lens on a Leica M10.

This is a great lens. It was smaller than I expected, handles nicely, operates smoothly and balances well on the M10 body. It's very sharp at all apertures, at least to my not-so-young eyes. Minimal viewfinder blockage without the lens hood, which I haven't found necessary to use.

As you would expect, the depth-of-field is extremely shallow when the lens is wide open. For a head and shoulders portrait at f/1.5, it's difficult to keep both eyes in focus if the subject's head is turned even slightly. And of course for daylight work wide open you'll want a variable ND filter.

I love the perspective of a 75 mm lens. Does nice portraits and good landscapes and cityscapes as well.

I highly recommend this lens.

[f/32] I am using the Nokton 75 on a Leica CL (APS-C), which means that the effective focal length is 113mm. The results from this camera/lens combination are superb with excellent sharpness and color and a nice touch of glow at f1.5-2.0. Mechanically, the lens is nearly up to Leica standards. I have a decent collection of Leica R and M lenses, that I have used both on an SL and a CL. As far as I am concerned, the Nokton 75 is as good as any of them for a fraction of the price.

[Canon RF] This lens is wonderful! It has rich color without seeming too much like an imposed look, great subject separation at low apertures with smooth bokeh, ability to handle highlights and sharp wide open even in backlit situations. Build quality is superb - light and small for such a long lens with such wide aperture. A great addition to anyones kit bag.

[12] This lens is a relative bargain for use on a Leica SL2 or M11. It is very sharp with stunning bokeh. I have had it a short time, but have been impressed with the separation from the background. The only negative, so far, is that the infinity stop on the focus ring is not accurate for distant subjects. You have to check focus (preferably through an EVF) rather than trusting the stop on the ring.

[Canon RF] One of the finest lenses I've ever used. Mainly this is my go-to lens for portraiture on the S1H with the L-M adapter. Like the 35mm, there's a noticeable vignetting at the widest apertures, but you can correct that in Lightroom, and sometimes the vignette looks really good and organic.

[f/1.5] Been using it a lot for landscape shots. Great Bokeh, sharpness and contrast, wide open. Much lighter than my autofocus lenses. Plan to try their 40 some time.

[1.715 lb] I’ve never owned a 75mm lens for Leica before, but can’t imagine any being much better than this.

Yes, the new 75mm Noctilux and the vintage 75mm Summilux have serious magic, but so does this Voigtlander. Creamy bokeh, beautiful transitions, gorgeous color and more than adequate sharpness, even wide-open. I really can’t imagine a better portrait lens.

[62 mm (Front)] I use this on my Leica M3. I am a black and white shooter since 1970. Always had my own darkroom and my workflow has never changed, Tri X, d76, Bessler 23c with Dichro S head, Ilford developers, Ilford Pearl RC 11X14, wash, dry, and store. Having owned Leica glass (Summicron, Summilux, etc I can honestly say this lens is their equal for 1/6th of the price. I currently only use Voigtlander lenses now and have never looked back. Micro contrast on this lens is truly magic. For a portrait lens, astonishing.

[Manual Focus] I bought a GFX50 not fully thinking about how expensive Fuji lenses are. (I'm a full time pro and it's tough). I bought this for a video prime on my XT4, and saw someone saying it works/covers on the GFX so I bought a second adapter. Wow it's great, I'm shooting it wide open or one stop down on the GFX50 and the results are stunning, better than my old days of using the Hasselblad 500cm and an 80mm. I like using this more than the 50mm pancake on the GFX... that autofocus is worthless so why not focus manual.

Eventually I'll use it on the XT4 for cinema projects, but it's living on the GFX50.
