The Miller Versa CXV8 Head, Solo-Q 75 Tripod & Case Kitfrom Miller Versa CXV8 Head, Solo-Q 75 Tripod & Case Kitis designed to accommodate a wide payload range with 16 steps of counterbalance using CB Plus for fine adjustments as well as five selectable pan/drag settings. Pan, tilt, and counterbalance can all be set to zero, enabling even the lightest of cameras to be supported. Maxed out, this head is rated to support camera setups up to 26.4 pounds, adequate for a DSLR or mirrorless camera, a smaller cinema camera, or a small ENG camcorder. Securing your camera or rig is easy. The sideload quick release plate design enables you to simply drop in your camera without the alignment issues posed by rear-loading variations. The plate offers 3.9" of sliding range to balance your rig.

To survive fast-paced shooting environments, the CXV8 is die-cast from a lightweight, yet durable metal alloy with composite polymers and precision ball bearings for smooth mechanical operation. Even in harsh conditions, the CXV8 will perform reliably. The base of the CXV8 is a 75mm ball for mounting to compatible tripods and grip equipment. An illuminated bubble level makes it easy to level the CXV8 in dark environments. A fixed-length pan handle is included, and a second rosette is available for attaching an optional second pan handle.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it include the case for transportation?

A: No, a case would not be included, but it would come with a carrying strap.

Q: 2. Is this the same head that comes with the Miller Air Carbon Fiber Tripod System?

A: Yes, the Miller Air Fluid Head B&H # MI1042 MFR # 1042 comes with the Miller Air Carbon Fiber Tripod System B&H # MI3005.

Q: 3. Does the head come with a Pan Handle stick?

A: The Tripod head does come with a pan handle.

Q: 4. What is the height of the head to the flat mount (without the ball)? I'm looking to place this on a slider and travel jib.

A: The non-removable ball integrates a flat base. The dimension from the top to bottom is 6.0" / 153mm. https://www.millertripods.com/us/mwdownloads/download/link/id/6/

Q: 5. There are keyrings on the top and on the bottom of one of the tripod's legs. What are they for?

A: This listing is for a Video Head only, there is no tripod with this product. Feel free to email us directly at ask@bandh.com for additional assistance.

Q: 6. Does the head come with the quick release plate?

A: The quick release plate would be included.

Q: 7. I have some old Bogen/Manffroto telescopic pan arms with rosette clamps. will these fit on the CX series head rosettes? they look similar but my CX6 tripod system hasn't arrived yet so I can't try it...

A: We cant know for certain without knowing the exact model tripod arm however it is usually safe to assume that it will not work. There is no universal standard rosette size/pattern for tripod arms and even Manfrotto/Bogen have a few variations of their rosette arm.

Q: 8. Do sachtler/manfrotto QR plates work with this head?

A: We're afraid not. This is compatible with Miller plates like BH #MI24CP. https://bhpho.to/2LTojyE

Q: 9. Do the legs slide out on their own or do you have to pull them out?

A: How many turns does it take to go from tight to loose enough for leg slide? Thanx!

Q: 10. Are the levels of drag adequate, or do you find yourself constantly wishing for more drag?

A: Those of us at B&H who have used it, like the overall feel of this head and its operation with a variety of cameras. We have had no complaints regarding any lack of drag.

[Yes] I use this tripod with my Canon 60D and camera accessories. The head can comfortably deal with a little weight over 10lbs, but not a ton more. Personally, I like the aluminum legs better than the carbon fiber. In a short time, the tripod has been in mud, rain, and it has worked great. Used the Scarlett on it a week ago and the weight was not an issue. Totally smooth pan and tilt. Great locks. Do yourself a favor and get more than one camera plate. This way you won't have to keep swapping it from one camera to another.

[Yes] This thing is a beast. I can't get over how well it's designed. I have Bogen tripods that are twice the weight and seem flimsy. This thing is light and solid as a rock. The head is smooth as silk. I originally ordered this tripod because of it's ability to set low to the ground (so I could use it with my Indislider), but now I am replacing all my Bogen tripods with this beast. Bogen = a piece of junk compared to this rig. Worth every penny, trust me.

[8.6 lb] Have been a long time Bogen user looking for a good lightweight versatile tripod system. After seeing the DV20 in action at a videographers convention i was sold. Its rock solid even though I was used to a mid-level spreader. My first assignment was shooting a modeling segment and I loved the fact that I could get so low to the ground with this tripod.

[Yes] This I'm thing is truly a beast of a fluid head for the price. As a wildlife filmmaker I am generally using huge O'Connor heads with massive lenses. This little rig gives those beasts a run for their money. In a pinch I have used this as a replacement head with a Gemini and a 150-600 lens and it was stable and smooth as could be. It also works great for my timelapse and slider setups. The three stops of resistance was scary at first but I honestly rarely use anything other than the second level of resistance. Absolutely recommend!

[8.6 lb] This tripod system is excellent. I mainly shoot with a 5dmkII with rails, audio gear, follow focus, etc that totals to at least 20lbs and this tripod handles it all with ease. This is lightyears better than my previous Manfrotto tripods (which were also good...this is just much better). The head is solidly constructed and the fluid head is buttery. It extends as high as I will ever need (camera is well over my head, and I'm 6 foot), and the leg locking system is easy to use, even with a loaded tripod. Suprisingly solid for having no spreaders.

[75 mm Half Ball] There are many reviews on this tripod, but bottom line: it is excellent! It's reasonably priced and can accommodate a pretty heavy rig. I'm impressed. I love the next to nothing weight as well!

[Fluid Head] great tripod and head for light to hefty dslr frankenrigs and very smooth and adjustable pan and tilt drag. pretty good counterbalance.
specially if you get the long slide plate and use a long dove plate on it when using long and heavy lenses with matte boxes, etc.
wish there was hook under the head to stabilize with weight!!

[Yes] Great tripod. Light. Secure lock. Could not ask for better. Like it better than Sachlers since I hate the spreader. Used big Manfrotto's in the past. No comparison. Own a Gitzo as well, which is close to Miller but still like Miller. Will buy Miller again if I need another one.
